  1. yeah, not understand me wrong, i still use my 8570P with 3840HQ for photoshop n sometimes sm0l video editing so i know why saying "its slow" 😄 n thx, lets make this old machine to a AI PC 😄
  2. sure is nice to see whats possible, but the CPU is pain in the a.... for video/photo editing bcs not enough threads, for gaming still an option, bcs most games not use more then 8 threads(some does n u will see at the min fps, but for mobile still ok). n maybe u should try 1333MHz mem, maybe the IMC will run with 64GB then. btw. someone tried a NPU in the m6800 yet? seen some modules with mPCIe standard, n some xtra TOPs can be useful in some cases.
  3. nah n no need for, 16GB is more then enough for everything except vid/photo editing... even when u put a RTX5000 in it n a 4k display n playing maxed out + RT in games, never 16GB will be the limiting part in it(but the CPU will be). more important is mem speed n timing, 1866 should be the minimum, 2133 the optimum... atm i searching for 2133 modules n will give thaiphoon burner a try to set 2400MHz...
  4. just found this, even stock a 4980HQ is faster then a OCed 4770K @ 4.5GHz(which is the same CPU like a 4930MX/4940MX just massive higher TDP / Boost clocks)... so maybe will even order a 4980HQ to get those extra fps. n found a 5200P for "cheap" maybe will take it... then would be no GPU bottleneck with the 4980HQ 🤩
  5. bcs here is more action then in the m6800 thread 😄 someone tried a P4200 in a m6700(will work in m6800 then too i think)? more power then the P5000 but only 8GB, but its ok bcs no RT anyway n at 1080p will be not be limiting any game(except FFXV with high res pack 😄 ) , they r really cheap to get, but only with clevo/msi bios, think wont work in a dell then with eDP?
  6. not seen an answer, yes is a AW 330W charger, have the same for my eGPU for my old HP 8570P...
  7. just measured some things... i can solder some passive heatsinks on the GPU n CPU cooler plate, height between 2-5mm, n in the secondary HDD bay will fit a 70*15mm blower fan, good on this is, no mods on the cassis itself needed, just couple hole on the bottom cover for the fan to get fresh intake n done, another really great thing is, bcs the bay is open straight to the direction of the cooler plates, they will get the whole fresh air, with some passive heatsinks on it, should be easy to cool down a 120W card + 57W CPU. will post any updates when done 🙂
  8. just took a look, the 4000 card seems impossible without modding chassis from the m6800 bcs mounting holes on different places, the 5000 seems to have everything on the right place, but need soldering some copper plates on the heatsink for proper cooling(but nothing serious) but price of the 5000 card is 🤐
  9. the wifi 6/ax card i got near by for 5 bucks, n 1500 down n 1400 up(tested) more then enough... n 2 mem slots more then enough, dont know who set the "32GB needed" thing into the world when not doin video/photo editing, im gamer n even in 4k not one single game i know which need 32GB, n photoshop i only do on the PC, more threads, more mem etc. so 16GB is fine for 99.9% of users. ordered a 4930MX anyway, goal is 4.5GHz, lets see its possible(with optimized cooling, maybe LM instead of grease)... yeah, the 880M already here, but want more power 😄 i have the eDP display, so pascal cards should run flawless anyway when seen it right? n the advantage of the RTX3000 is DLSS, at quality mode will already outperform a P5200, big red flag is only 6GB of vmem, will limit even in 1080p in a lot of games. so RTX 4000 or even better 5000 would be the better option(when possible?).
  10. so when eDP display is in the M6800 P5000M/P5200M will work flawless? plug n play(+ .inf mod)
  11. hey peeps, got an M6800 for 100 bucks n now just want upgrade... some stuff already clear n ordered / installed, but need to know a couple of things(mainly about GPU options). Service Tag is: 9F9PZ52 (so u guys can take a look of original config) original configuration --> whats ordered/already installed: i7-4710MQ --> i7-4930MX 2x 4GB DDR3L 1600 --> 2x 8GB DDR3L 1866 AMD FirePro M6100 --> NV GTX 880M 8GB(just waiting for the NV heatsink, 880M i already had bcs was planned for a imac upgrade) 2x SATA 500GB HDD --> mPCIe/mSATA 1TB SSD no WIFI --> WIFI 6/AX Maxwell upgrades? without any Bios mods works? just mod the .inf? someone tried the big maxwell(GTX 980 Mobile not 980M) with N16E-GXX-A1? i seen they r as normal MXM-B 3.0 form factor ava so would fit without modding the heatsink(except the lil cut where all maxwell cards need) etc.. speed would be like an GTX 1060 desktop. pascal(P5000 / P5200) seems doesnt work well? when checked the service tag, show me eDP display, when seen right will cause trouble with pascal GPUs on windows? RTX 3000 seen something? or same issues like pascal? seen on ebay a flat-cable which bridge the pins on RTX cards so they work with eDP displays?
  12. ordered a 4930MX, 20 bucks cheaper then the 4940MX(or the 4980HQ) n the OC results for both r the same, so no need to waste money on that 😄 n found another 2x 4GB 1866 mem in a old 2570P here, so could go for 24GB... but will short the battery life, the reson i only will install the 1TB mPCIe SATA SSD, less power using stuff in the system as possible... now will think about to optimize the heatsinks... sadly is not from the bottom like HP where u can use the bottom plate as huuuuuge heatsink 😄
  13. and where is the problem? 16GB is more then enough for everything except big photoshop / video files, n for this the supported CPUs r way to slow atm(except i like to wait for hours 😄 )
  14. first parts arrived, ordered a wifi 6/AX BT 5.2 card with native mPCIe so no adapter needed, works pretty well, installed win11 as clean install on a 256GB samsung 850pro which i found in the corner, but a 1TB mPCIe SATA is on da way n will do a fresh install there(since i know is bootable) then n the HDD bays possible will mod to fan-slots for better air flow(like i did with my former elitebooks) when possible. putted my gskill 1866MHz mem in n installed XTU to undervolt the CPU, -0.070V n all core boost on max ended up in 5% singlecore n 6% multicore performance(just quick test with cinebench) im getting really excited that the NV cooler arrive soon, want try the GTX 880M n still not sure which CPU 4930/4940MX or 4980HQ(yeah u can order socket version for G3 socket = will fit n work in M6800)... in games the 128MB L4 cache from the HQ gives a huge burst(10-40% when no GPU bottleneck), but the open multiplicator from the MX on the other side will give more performance everywhere. next upgrade would be then a P5200, more then enough power for 1080p n mid settings + max details bcs 16GB of vram will be more then enough 😄
  15. btw. any bios suggestions? the newer ones fixing those spectre n meltdown stuff but will cost massive performance, so when possible will avoid, which is the last recommended one?
  16. yeah then will order the NV cooler, is only 20 bucks incl. pads on aliexpress... thats poop bios cant boot from it 😞 n btw. found a bridge cable to use RTX cards in the 6800M, someone tried yet? a 2070 is cheap to get n would be nice to have DLSS, bcs the 880M only has the raw power of a 1050Ti desktop, n thats not really a banger so would be nice to upgrade later. n those mPCIe adapter i already have in the basket at aliexpress, bcs have a wifi 6/AX card here which i will put in.
  17. hey peeps, i got a 6800M for only 100 bucks(perfect condition), but want to replace GPU, atm the fire pro 6100m is installed,(so the most worse of those options for the 6800M), have already a GTX 880M 8GB from a Alienware here(was for a imac upgrade but i never did it 😄 ) n 2x 8GB gksill 1866 C10 mem from my old HP 2570p, CPU maybe will upgrade later to a XM one. main questions: - the AMD cooler works with the kepler cards, or better order a kepler cooler for it? - someone has the thermal pad sizes(when use AMD cooler -when possible-) for AMD cooler with kepler card n for kepler + kepler? - anyone use SSDs in the mini PCIe slots? thx
