  1. @seanweethanks for speaking with me last week about the shunt mod for my Legion Pro 7i with 4090. I am probably going to be out of town for the next couple of months and won't be able to do anything until I get home. That is unless I do it in my hotel room!
  2. I have an M17x R4 which I had previously an M4000M and 120Hz display and it worked really well. The laptop has been idle for about 2 years, so I was going to reinstall Win10 and give it to my son so he would have something to game on when out of town on business trips. Well, I got 5 beeps when tried to start it up. Honestly, I don't recall all of what I have done, but I know I replaced the CMOS battery and... I am starting to get the feeling that my BOIS is not configured for the dedicated GPU anymore. I have tried cards that are known to work and I still get 5 beeps. I even tried a GT 240M from an eBay M15x I got a few years ago. Still no love. I have considered trying the M15x display to see if I can get into the BIOS. An external monitor has not helped so far. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Does anyone know where to find M15x drivers for Windows 10?
  4. Did you figure this out? I have nothing to add other than I think all of these cards should work.
  5. This appears to be limited to around 80w. It's running very cool at about 78c for GPU Hot Spot. I had read on the old site that the GTX 980m was a no go due to heat. I am guessing that the issue was an unlocked card? Even with the TDP limit, it's a significantly faster than the M4000M. The hardware ID is different from the Dell card so the inf mod required a bit more work. Modified inf file for driver version 511.65: nvdmig.inf 13D8 = Dell GTX 970m 13D7 = Dell GTX 980m 1617 = Clevo GTX 980m Firestrike graphics score is about 21% higher than my Quadro M4000M Quadro M4000M https://www.3dmark.com/fs/11965759 Clevo GTX 980m https://www.3dmark.com/fs/27146752
  6. I love seeing these AW laptops being brought back to working status. Good work!
  7. I like this mod. Are you concerned at all about the exposed metal contacting something on the board/casing? I don't own an M18x R2 anymore, but I think the M15x and M17x R4 have the same setup?
