I upgraded my p775dm3 to a 2080 super, and it all works OK; however the modifications I had to do to the cooler and unholy stacks of thermal pads I had to make to get contact with the VRM makes me weary of the 200w power limit of the card, I also notice that the system does experience a hard shutoff if I run a GPU stress test for an extended period of time. (I assume the VRM is having a thermal limit trip). MSI afterburner and similar linux utilities do not seem to know much about the card, and I am not able to lower the power limit in them. (I did have to do the inf mod for Windows drivers and I am on Wayland in Linux, so perhaps it is just a coincidence and both of those two are actually causing the issue).
I know it may sound stupid, but I am pretty worried about the VRMs overheating and/or the card drawing too much power from the laptop not desiged for it, so I would like to find a way to lower the power limit maybe to 180w or 150w. Anybody have a VBIOS for the clevo 2080 super with a reduced power limit?
Secondly, I am a bit confused about BIOSs for this laptop, as I understand there are some BIOSs that change the ID such that the inf mod is not needed on Windows. Currently, the laptop has an older version of Dsanke bios (had it when I got it), probably pre-rtx. For a daily-driver, would it be better to update to the latest dsanke version (maybe one with rtx support) or to go with a Prema bios? What is considered to be the 'best' bios for performance option unlocking as well as daily stability and full functionality?
