Sadly no, that is an avenue I really want to pursue at some point though. Its just the plan we selected from the provider, 12 hours free usage and 12 hours at some higher rate. No one really at the house during the day so things are lean during the day and ramped up over night, I have my systems on timers/schedules so that they are all off an on when appropriate. For the purposes of the winter though, My GPU mining setup heats the house pretty well when I distribute it in key areas and still costs less than half as much as it does to cool the place with 0 mining during the summer. I realize that my scenario is probably not standard. If seeking immediate profits there are basically no great options at the moment, sadly, this predicament isnt exclusive to mining as stocks and currency have been much more volatile as well. Thanks for sharing, I hadnt considered the service-ability standpoint with sourcing parts. I do have a collection of modded BIOSes, I tend to collect them as I see them for such scenarios but most of it comes from Dsanke (as I understand it) for pretty much all of the DTR Clevo laptops. Without the modded sBIOS I probably wouldnt even entertain picking one up. Its a bummer B0B never made an account here, hopefully at some point that can change :) If I were to pick this up I would definitely look for spare parts in advance as this would be the prime time to start looking into that to prevent from future potential down time. An issue that I have recently learned from fixing my car, some parts for the RSX were surprisingly difficult to find particularly through COVID since everyone was fixing their buckets instead of buying new.

Ethereum is dead since having switched over to Proof of Stake, there are plenty of other coins to mine. The cost/benefit isnt there for general public but my power is free 12 hours a day and it will heat my house during the winter. I already have all the infrastructure in place so no reason to not run it.

Good Morning everyone! So I recently came across this listing here on ebay. Its a P870DM3 for 550 OBO from eluktronics I was thinking of transplanting what I have in the P750FM (15.6 Frankentop) to the P870DM3, are there any huge design flaws of the DM3 I should be aware of? My current system already has a 9th gen 9700F, and I have half a dozen 6th gen 6500T chips laying about for bios-mods, RAM and SSD's so really most of the cost would be a new video card at some point as my current 1080 has an off center die (custom heatsink) I figure if I sell my P157SM-A, T440p, 5820x Precision (all of which I dont use at all for varying reasons) and some spare parts I have laying around I should at the very least break even in terms of fiscal burden over time. Especially if I pitch for 450-475 @electrosoft @Papusan @Ashtrix @Mr. Fox @Etern4l @cylix @Meaker I have been using my AM4 system to float me for a bit now but its about time for mining season again so the AM4 ITX box will go back to running 5x GPU's to heat up the house

Not that it would help you save any money but isnt Intel HEDT still in the rumor mill? -

It would if those monitors werent riddled with issues and compromises The Aorus one is the only one that came close last I saw and its using compression because it cant actually hit 4k120hz Honestly though I was just looking for a 40ish" panel with 4k and freesync My 42" TV still works but just looking ahead to see what I would get as I dont want the hassle of the newer SmartTV's and setting it up on its own VLAN to prevent it from scanning my network. -
We disabled those before opening the forum. While my cohost Hiew simply didnt want negative bandwagons (which is fair), I had similar reasoning in that, anything critical should be handled constructively in each members respective posts via dialogue. I am of the opinion that if you cant be bothered to defend your position via dialogue its a position not worth defending, by extension if you cant be bothered to construct your own criticism towards a particular idea then people probably dont want to hear it anyways. Anything that cant be resolved or degenerates into a "shouting match" can be resolved with a report. I just made it home and will look at the what the limitations are set at for "reactions" though to be completely transparent I personally wanted to reinstitute a "REP" system but as far as I can tell there is no means currently built into the forum software to easily allow that, which is a huge bummer personally. "Reactions" are the best we can do without hiring someone to facilitate that for us and right now with no ads and paying out of pocket we have to keep the "Scope of the Project" limited to what we can do ourselves. A bit off topic for this thread but it should serve as context. If no posts are made I will edit this post with the limit setting. EDIT: Have bumped up to 75 for now. Will likely increase again in the near future just need to get a changelog going for the next announcement. The setting has been mostly fine but it has bumped heads with some of our more frequent users so its been on my mind, mostly because what I stated above. Which is why I liked the NBR system of "like" and separate "value" for "rep".

I think the limit is either 50 or 75 at the moment

Its mostly nostalgia purchase but also buying in advance of the coming winter for some hwbot submissions. Slows down considerably at work usually as well so I'll be remoting home running benchmarks and putting in more work into the forum :) The only bummer is they arent EVGA branded (not that it really matters functionally), they are PNY XLR8 cards. -
I could see it make sense in counties like South Korea that has pretty good internet service. I think I tried looking into at one point and just decided that I didnt like the input lag

Yep! I intend to pick 2 up for such a purpose. Used to have one a long time ago, it is sadly where I learned of the 1GB vram marketing vs reality trope lol it was good fun at the time. Now I want a couple for nostalgia but also for benching. -
It is our pleasure :) I used to have a k53, sandy laptop with 540m right? Put a lot of miles on mine when I had it. Welcome to the forums! Be sure to check out some of the how-to's for how to work with some of the finer aspects of the forum software :)

Hey guys so I have a local listing for 9800GX2's only reason I am bringing it to the forums attention and specifically here is because he has around 20 in inventory. Anyone want in? -

I focus more so on Forum cohesiveness, where to cut the fat and where to expand. The backend is largely handled by my co-(re?)founder @Hiew . He is good at what he does, and that aspect of the forum has largely been running like a well oiled machine. We have had a cooling off period for a bit now, with the world seemingly falling to pieces we have been working as much as possible in our respective lives. I still have some projects in regards to the forums, one of which I have been working on here and there to which some here are privy, I still plan to make it a reality here when the time is right. -
Best possible mobile server is likely to be the Ranger with the modification I ran on it. I had around 12TB at the time, but with your 3x 8TB drives the Ranger could easily handle that and more tbph

Switch to Dark Theme, I may just make that the default going forward. The IC forums are not letting me post there for some reason, so getting answers is difficult. -

Thanks for the link, sent an inquiry to see about diagnosing my msi branded 1080 from my p750FM. Locks up under GPU load and kind of miss using it as my daily. -

Tech Cemetery do laptops too? -
It could also just be a current setting that doesn't jive with the cpu. For example I believe the medium is Optimus only to the panel but if there is a peg setting and it's enabled, perhaps it's changing the behavior of the post. Since previously mDP is not functional, headless variants won't fool the system into posting. I'll probably need to swap the 4810mq back in and review the sbios settings.

Mostly only my t440p and a couple of other Dell systems like the m6800 and e5540. Recently nothing though, might put it into the t440p to verify function.

Got my eye on an HD 5970 Quadfire listing while everyone is looking at RTX 4090's lol -
Sadly the 4980hq did not post in the P157SM-A laptop. Turns on for about a minute, then back off, reboots and repeats. :(
