You might find them in kits of 8gb single's, it's how I found them a couple years ago on Amazon.

I never had any luck with with SODIMM overclocking in any platform that used DDR3. Even with unlocked BIOS none seemed to be able to manipulate the settings in place on XMP or JEDEC, iirc there was limited success with Thaiphoon Burner but I dont recall how much success there was. I think @Mr. Fox did try it at one point though under similar circumstances (M18xR2)

Got both gtx 690's and now both have an accelero twin turbo heatsink. Tested the first one and looks to be operating as it should, gpu 2 will be tomorrow. I don't want to get ahead of myself but I do see some benchmarks that look like they could be in reach. I'll upload some pc porn with this post. Basically replaces the single 92mm fan with 2x 120mm fans, though they do appear to be low profile. Going to have to swap a lot of hardware around this week. Looks like the eah4890's are a scam. Guy never sent them, if they exist and created the same listing a day after I made the purchase. Ebay is now making me wait 5 additional days before they are willing to step in, guess I'm going to have to call them tomorrow. I did see an accelero III for 15, probably going to snap that up. -
@Ishayin I know this response is a bit delayed. I had seen this post while at work and lost track of this as I continued searching. It looks like what I had been looking for has been long desired by many in the peripheral space. One such solution is "QMK" or Quantum Mechanical Keyboard, which is an open source firmware/software that loads into a compatible controller board which then allows you to pretty much what ever you would like to do with a keyboard. The next trick is to figure out if your board is compatible, and if so, what steps you have to take in order to make it so. If not, if there is someone else out there in the ether who had enough interest to make a replacement PCB with the controller that you want so that you can have the keyboard you want while using QMK. My original solution to attempt was a macropad, but this used a driver called (recalling from memory here) PS2VRGB and as such wouldnt work with my synchronizers that I use to interface with 32x systems at a time. Luckily I was able to find an open box (actually 2) Code v3 TKL keyboards that more or less resolved this issue, for me anyways. I also picked up a Pok3r keyboard but the Pok3r doesnt seem to retain the settings I implement once it loses power. I personally have a Durgod Full-size keyboard and was surprised to learn that it has macro functions as well but I have no idea how to set it up and the software seems impossible to download from their website.

Its currently what I am debating. If there is something you wish to post about now that doesnt fit squarely, we can always move it after certain remedies are made to the forum :)

Its also possible that your motherboard's default option is different from what you had set when you first set up the system. For Dell (I know this isnt a dell system) as an example, Most people tend to set AHCI as a default SATA operation, but Dell's default option is Raid On, which would cause issues after a BIOS update on laptops for example. -
I have actually been pondering the idea of expanding on the Desktop sub-forum. I have been split though as keyboards aren't inherent to desktops either so that might fall in line somewhere else

Yeah I am generally not happy about the current paradigm. Basically the reason we stopped getting interesting one off's, especially in the western world is specifically due to Nvidia. AMD tried to keep it running a bit longer but sadly both products were priced high and didnt really attempt to hit the mainstream market anymore. With DX12 and pushing mGPU back into the developers which was odd but also foreseeable. Nvidia after all only really put any effort into games that were attempting to implement proprietary functions they themselves were trying to push. Actually I remember there some buzz about the 460 2WIN because it had the SLI finger still present so there was some excitement about running Quad SLI/Tri SLI just for fun. Dont know if anyone tried this though... -

I still have one from the p750fm, but alas the p157sm-a uses a different style. The guy got back to me he just realized he forgot it so I asked him to send it Monday. No rush for this system -

I have purchased 1 4980hq but tested in multiple laptops. Im not quite sure if it works anymore as the last time I removed it the M6800 refused to let it go and I bent some pins. I was able to straighten them out but one pin is unable to stand on its own but isnt quite broken yet. There was another user that bought the 4980hq or 4870hq but it failed to post. I installed it into the Ranger where it didnt post, later injected Crystalwell microcode but no dice. The seller seems to have not shipped the AC adapter for the P157SM-A so just pinged them about it a moment ago. -

Yes, it's currently purring at 5Ghz, I should be able to hit 5.2Ghz after I do some homework on the platform. -

Oh the 690's will be here tomorrow, a pleasant surprise. Still no word on the eah4890's yet. Really want to run it back and see if amd improved things and/or if I was a bumbling idiot or probably both lol. -

The last graphic is what truly seemed baffling to me. Though with my family and its orbit around Auto dealerships it makes 0 sense to accept losses at all for your luxury product. Though admittedly my understanding of the GPU business is nil. So perhaps you guys can correct me if this metaphor is flat wrong. Typically for Automotive, the Camry sells itself, what you want is people buying Suburban's. The CEO of EVGA seems to be of an older mentality. So while he's miffed at Nvidia for pursuing profits over partnerships I can see how that doesnt automatically mean he's running towards AMD or Intel. Overall however, especially in these trying times (and speculatively looking worse) people should be hoping that they can recover that relationship and/or find another vendor to be partner to, not because EVGA needs them but because we do. EVGA is one of the few corporate entities that has the best warranties and generally from my limited perspective has a positive relationship with their customers. -

Honestly I think this will also hit Nvidia quite a bit. I didnt like any other vendor and to be honest they were the primary factor to me, nvidia being secondary when I looked at their products. Its been a while now that we have known Nvidia has been a terrible partner to all, you can only run that way for so long before people arent willing to deal with it anymore. In other news, I picked up 2x GTX 690's for 60/each to pair with the accelero coolers, only gone as far as tri-sli in the past so this will be a first for Quad-SLI, luckily due to mining I have 4x 1200w PSU's plus the 1300w EVGA PSU. Its going to be a fun Winter combing through 2010-2012 GPU's on @Mr. Fox's old 10850K platform. Probably closer to how he would like for me to use it anyways eh? -

Going to watch this as soon as I can, they've been solo Nvidia for quite some time. -

Hey have you guys ever thought to try faster memory mods on older GPU's for benchmarking? I know that Khenglish had attempted something similar when he transplanted the 980 DT die to the 980m but I can't recall if that exercise was fruitful. I sae some on YouTube claim to double the vram, personally more interested in faster ram aspect, for now just as a interesting thought experiment. With my pursuit of qmk keyboard capability it seems all roads are leading to a soldering iron :D Anyways got my toys today, sadly the eah4890's don't have tracking or have been delivered Ill be able to test if the 4980hq posts in the p157sm-a, hopefully Prema's magic will grant me a little breathing room in that regard. -
I am not well versed in reddit, but I believe they use the upvote/downvote system with an up arrow or down arrow.

@Rengsey R. H. Jr. Have you made any progress with this project? Very curious how it turns out. Either pursuing this or the recently uncovered RX 6600 MXM card for my P157SM-A (new to me)
