  1. You would have to modify the spd of the ram itself for the system to read from, but I never attempted it myself.
  2. If those boxes are indeed checked, the next big one obviously is price.
  3. I can't recall which version but I think it's the 3090 ftw3? OK yeah ftw3, had to review my pictures. It's going back to the plex miner server
  4. Yeah I believe that is accurate as well. I knew going in that I would make modifications to the GPU as I bought it for mining and later to be re-used for gaming or other such purposes so its a long term investment kind of thing.
  5. There were some AIB's that used glorified plastic (MSI) on their backplate, then others that had a backplate but no pads. it was a crapshoot imho.
  6. Mine stayed around 56c or so but as you mentioned ambients play a role, I also have 2x twin window fans so I my room is negative pressure with the occasional AC from the vent and the system itself is near the window. For the context of mining the GPU die (well for ethereum at least) was that memory was far and away more important to pay attention to. The not very long term minded just ran it as is and killed their cards in 6 months running 110c on the memory. I kept mine around 85-90c when it was in full time use. Tuned to 300w, for gaming I tuned it to 350w as a quick fix because my laptop started giving me issues
  7. I think mine ran around 54c but I just have memory clocked up everything else is stock. 2700x bottlenecked it I think so probably more apt to have it on the 10850k
  8. system RAM? never had any luck with running anything other than 1600Mhz even with 1866 or 2133Mhz kits. DDR3 overclocking was fairly uncommon in laptops during this era. The BIOS for the m4600/m6600 wasnt very good according to @valuxin when he was looking through years ago.
  9. I believe GamersNexus did report that EVGA did have 4090's but they were in development for such purposes. I would imagine they would be akin to ES samples from Intel unless KingPin is moving to another AIB?
  10. I had fun with it at the time, iirc I made 2 SFF watercooling systems based around water. I had also intended to do the same for the Rampage III Extreme but a number a circumstances in my life led me to sell it all off and move to laptops. Using non conductive water for my first time trying watercooling definitely took the obvious risk off the table though I treated it as more of an insurance policy, which worked in my favor. its worth considering that it does become conductive over time.
  11. Oh that was immediate, too much tension on the CPU block for how I made the initial route, complete impatience mistake. The little bit of foresight I had though was I ran it with the PSU out of the case so cleaning it up was not as much of a chore as one would think in a traditional scenario. After correcting with zip ties as insurance (lol) I let it run like for a few days with towels underneath. I would love to watercool again, the main issue is really, how I know I would approach the situation. Perhaps one degree removed from @Mr. Fox save for the chiller. Perhaps after my student loans are paid off I will reconsider, but thats some time away :)
  12. I had a leak my first time, but I also went out of my way to use color dyed non conductive water for my first go as I expected as I often do tend to get excited about these sorts of expenditures.
  13. They will use the price tag and lack of sales as a means to justify re-cancelling the game altogether. best scenario is someone(s) can use the assets and port it over to DS2
  14. Wouldnt mind EVGA shoving Corsair out of the spaces they current inhabit, seems like that is the direction they might be headed.
  15. Fully expect this title to be pirated to a higher degree, or purchased via g2a or other such sites
  16. Very nicely done man, wish I had the skillset/means to make these things. I've been flip flopping between upgrading my current P750FM or taking the plunge on this P870DM3
  17. Better enjoy it while it lasts lol Cross compatibility is not what Intel is known for in any space. First time since when? Sandy to Ivy?
  18. The PC space as a whole is taking one on the chin right now, we all knew this was coming, more accurately we already knew this was happening. Shame AMD couldnt capitalize on a lower price point but I have no idea what prompted the current pricing.
  19. Just scored 2x 5970's for 70 :) Most of the weekend went towards repasting/padding the GTX 295 and HD 4870x2
  20. Fairly certain nothing special, just Afterburner. You will need to flash custom vbios, with it I was able to hit 1Ghz core and 6000 memory with 1.1v, though keep in mind my card wouldnt hit that without some additional attention from the vBIOS modder @valuxin so I couldnt say if it would work for yours, YMMV and anything you do is at your own risk. https://www.nbrchive.net/forum.notebookreview.com/threads/possible-gpu-upgrade-for-precision-m4600.772547/page-21.html
  21. Not quite right, I overclocked this card quite a bit alongside @valuxin which is documented in the GPU upgrade thread archived and linked here.
  22. Welcome to forum! Look forward to seeing you around NBT :)
  23. dB snobs tend to do their research even further than Watercooling types and often run in similar circles. The main problem here is not that those chips run 95c, the actual main problem is the ignorance behind what to do with it. There is nothing that says you cant adjust fan curve is there?
  24. Still driving my RSX, had to take it back to the shop for 0505 CEL code but should be good to go tomorrow hopefully. 190k miles and when the engine dies ill probably just get a k24a
  25. I use my stationary bike with a desktop surface instead of handle bars and stream to the laptop from my main pc. Perfect for ace combat or really any offline title. Ups the ante for the last mission when you have to fly underground while pedaling. Obviously fps is out but there are many genres.
