  1. Ugh, now I have the opportunity to pick up a 4090FE for $1400. I'm bummed I already paid for the 3080ti, the 4090 is hard to pass up at that price.
  2. Lol my work laptop didn't show the emoticon so I was a little confused. I thought maybe you knew something I didn't, lol.
  3. Well I guess I'm going a slightly different direction for the GPU. I just picked up an EVGA 3080ti FTW3 for $500. A pretty reasonable price, not as good as a 3090/3090ti for sure but I think it will tied me over since I also picked up a OLED AW3423DWF with a lower resolution than my 38. I figure the extra money is something I can pocket for a 4090 in the future.
  4. Sadly I may only be able to get some 25mm 120s in under the GPU...
  5. Ugh I guess I'm not excited about this part, what is the "best" 280mm AIO cooler? That's going to be the hard pill to swallow coming from a custom loop... Also any recommendations on 120 and 140mm fans? I would love to buy a bunch of noctuas but my wallet doesn't want to do so...
  6. You're right about the price, it's not bad at all. I'll probably pick one up until the Dan case is more readily available in the states. I just picked up a Silverstone SX1000 Platinum for $160 shipped too. Now I just need ram, a case, and a GPU. Well and to sell my old stuff so the wife doesn't /me.
  7. Curious what your thought is about the NR200P? I want the Dan Case but it's availability is a little tough. I had no clue you were thinking about a SFF case, lol. I did pick up a 13700k for $300 and a Asus ROG Strix Z690-I Gaming for $220. I guess I'm on my way...
  8. I mean you can easily spend 20k on it without too much difficulty. I'm all for spending money for fun but I think you should come up with a good game plan. You can play around with supermicro's config: https://store.supermicro.com/us_en/supermicro-superworksation-full-tower-sys-551a-t.html?utm=smcpp&_gl=1*1e2viij*_ga*MTU5NDU4MTA0Ni4xNjcyMTEwOTAw*_ga_K1TNNPLV4M*MTY4NTEyNDk5NS4yNS4xLjE2ODUxMjUwNzEuNTIuMC4w
  9. Hah what's your budget? Lots of different ranges when going with the WS W690... What is your workload like? May be worth investing in GPU vs CPU power... The motherboard alone costs more than my Epyc motherboard/cpu/256GB of ram, lol.
  10. Think it's worth the extra $100 for a 3090 over the 3080ti? Also does the 3080ti use the stupid nvidiot connector? Ram wise, I'd love to keep it to a reasonable price, unfortunately the reason I can't swing a 13900k either. I feel like I'd rather stay with the upper end but upgrade every new gen.
  11. Wondering what everyone's opinion would be here. I currently have my desktop and I've been thinking about selling it as a whole built thing (because of the water cooling and what not) just so I can try something new. I'd been thinking about building a mini-itx system mainly because I want a new smaller standing desk. If I go this route I'd love to pick up a 4090 but that's not in the cards until I graduate from residency in a year. I can get a 3080ti for ~600 or a 3090 for ~700 and those sound like attractive routes to go. Anyone have any thoughts about a "temporary" video card for my 3840x1600 resolution gaming monitor? Thoughts for the build: Dan Case C4-SFX Z790 itx motherboard 13700k Ram (will need help selecting some reasonable sticks, or may keep my OLOY since I know they are decent) 3090/3080ti/???
  12. Just to bump this up, I was looking for one of these for a friend but I just cannot find one. It would be a great little device for his use case...
  13. I found a good deal on an Intel X550-t2 card so I can do 10Gb and 2.5Gb to my cable modem.
  14. Just checked my PfSense box and I currently have 63 active IP addresses, the majority being wireless. It adds up when you have tablets and fire sticks and wireless cameras, etc...
  15. The new Passmark memtest is what I use now: https://www.memtest86.com/downloads/memtest86-usb.zip
  16. Yeah I kind of wished I had offered lower but I'm ok with it. I also just sold my 3060ti to a 15 year old kid for cheap because he's been working his butt off saving funds to buy a card and someone sold him a dead card on craigslist.
  17. Bought a Nvidia Tesla P40 GPU for $170. Basically a Titan Xp with more ram and no display outputs. Should be fun to mess around with in the Unraid Server. I wanted more ram to allow for increased transcoding sessions and perhaps run a 2-gamer one system type setup in the future. Really just something to mess around with.
  18. Some googling shows that maybe holding the fn + d keys during boot may reset the bios. Which laptop is this on btw?
  19. I would only add that after you disconnect the cmos battery try pushing the power button for like 10 seconds before plugging it back in. Try to discharge any additional capacitance in the system. Also if you have different ram sticks to try, I would because maybe it will try to get the new SPD values off of them.
  20. It's not my money, but I'd love to see you and @Papusanbenching 4090s...
