  1. I've been preaching PTM 7950 for quite some time. The stuff is nothing short of incredible compared to traditional pastes, and best of all, no pump out. I have both the pad/sheet form and paste 7958. The sheet/pad will not work on a desktop CPU IHS, it will never melt from my experience. The paste though, that stuff is awesome and works like it should. It won't match a delidded LM setup, but it will get great temps and keep a warranty intact with none of the risk.
  2. I'm on vacation from Oct 3 - 23, yissss I will be grabbing one or 2 for testing. Y not lol.
  3. Now to get these stable. They game for hours in BF2042 without issue, pass Geekbench, and haven't had any issues using them this way, but will eventually error out TM5. Hard to keep these dual ranks cool even with air. If I push the cache to 50x gets the latency down to 52ns. Not too shabby for 2x32gb kit. Took that picture hiking with the wife in Yosemite earlier this year. Gotta touch grass every now and then. 😁
  4. https://www.microcenter.com/product/651260/gskill-trident-z5-rgb-series-64gb-(2-x-32gb)-ddr5-6000-pc5-48000-cl30-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-f5-6000j3040g32gx2-tz5rk-black This kit as long as 820A (a-dies) are excellent overclockers. They’ve also got the 6400 CL34 kit for same $219 new sale price. Had I aimed for new instead of the $153 open box deal, I would have tried them. But I have a feeling these will OC the exact same as the 6000 CL30 kit.
  5. Starfield seems to absolutely love dual ranked ram. I am seeing about 10fps higher than my single rank ram that is running at higher speed. Microcenter had some of the 2x32gb stuff in stock and open box for $153 this morning, insane deal. I reserved some and ran over and unfortunately when I arrived and checked the package, it was M-Die. They had more open box kits in the back for the same price so I decided to go check those. Sure enough they had some A-Die kits for $153. I grabbed them and swapped them into my Dark Z690 with my crappy 13900K (crap IMC). Running 7400 CL34 dual ranked 64gb for $153. The package had 3x returned stickers all over it, and even a RTV (return to vendor) and RRTV (tested by GSkill and Refused Return To Vendor). They looked sus lol. Sure enough they are rockstars like my other kit I got earlier this year for $270?. https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-14th-gen-core-i9-14900k-i7-14700k-and-i5-14600k-reportedly-launches-october-17th Hoping the IMC is god like. Apparently Asus has stopped production of OG Z790 Apex and a refresh is coming with even higher memory tuning. I saw a product listing for the new Gigabyte boards claiming 8800+ memory OCs.
  6. It actually blows my mind that people are still using those adapters. Seriously, how much more proof do you need they're defective and ticking time bombs. The only cards I see having melting or burning issues today are the ones using those 90 degree adapters. Just use the stock Nvidia crazy fingers or get a custom cable and be done with it. I've been using my CableMod cables in 3x systems since launch, no issues. But @Papusancould write a book on the amount of these adapters that have burned up.
  7. After they've cancelled the 4090 Ti, or at least it's definitely looking this way. I gave up and am swapping the 4080 to a 4090 again lol. My local BB had a couple in stock this morning. I had a $50 coupon from them. Of course it's a 1070mV limited chip. No worries, a quick vBIOS flashed fixed that and now I have a full 1100mV OG version. Boosts to 2715Mhz out of box completely stock. Temps are cold on this beast too, the coolers on the FE are insanely good this gen. That vapor chamber and PTM doing work. With OC at stock 1050mV voltage I can hit 2955mhz. VRAM seems decent but not amazing. Unfortunately it seems it's going to top out around +1600. Have not tried to punch the voltage up though. Will see how far it will go, but honestly even at stock settings these cards are insane enough.
  8. They're busy selling GPUs to AI and letting modders take care of their performance issues in the form of Frame Gen.
  9. I’m loving just landing on random planets and exploring a bit. Taking over random ships that land nearby and killing everyone onboard. Space pirate stuff. The AutoHDR mod/hack looks incredible on OLED. Def have to try that out. DLSS and Frame Gen are a must as well. I don’t usually love this type of game but I’ve def gotten into it. I can see this game lasting a long time and being heavily modded over the years. Worth a look on Gamepass for $5 tomorrow when it drops for those that haven’t tried it out yet.
  10. https://www.maxon.net/en/downloads/cinebench-2024-downloads Get benching yall. edit: Seems very demanding compared to R23.
  11. For me it really depends on screen size and viewing distance. But for a normal computer desk viewing distance, 27" screen I can easily spot the difference between a 1080p, 1440p, and 4K screen. 1440p is a tad more difficult, but individual pixels are still viewable, 1080p is disgusting on a screen that size, and 4K is finally at a high enough DPI that individual pixels are no longer distinguishable. In game, it's no contest, a 4K screens clarity and detail really stands out. Textures look incredible and games have never looked so crisp and beautiful. I've been gaming at 4K 144Hz since 2019, and the road only points forward. Although I do wonder if were going to reach a point in the near future where it won't matter anymore. Like the next horizon is 8K screens, but will that matter if we can't see individual pixels anymore? My gut tells me we're close to the end on resolution, or need for a new monitor technology to make a real difference in visual fidelity and the drive towards life like graphics.
  12. LOL I totally forgot I renamed them to that one day when I was screwing around. Now it's staying haha. And yes, I've had quite a few comments about that on YouTube over the years. It's so weird hearing your own voice recorded, like wtf I don't sound like that..
  13. Been testing Frame Generation all day for PureDark.. I had no issues with stability or otherwise after about 6 hours of testing. It's now been greenlit and is released to his patreon supporters/discord if interested. It's an amazing mod that will give you HUGE FPS gains. BIG MIDDLE FINGER TO AMD and their attempts to block frame gen and DLSS.
  14. Wow that is an absolutely crazy good price.
  15. Which one did you go with? I was supposed to have a water block yesterday from ModMyMods.com. I reached out to them and they were very nice and apologized for the delay in shipment and said it would ship yesterday. They made a shipping label.. They emailed them this morning after no change on FedEx website and was told he personally shipped it for me yesterday and that it should arrive? I am giving them to the end of the day and then requesting my $$ back for their expedited shipment. First time ordering from them and I am less than impressed so far. They do reply pretty quick and are professional, but something just feels off.
  16. That is the basic problem with FSR2, it has a lack of temporal stability. As soon as you move the object fizzles, shimmers and grains. It looks like absolute garbage and reminds me of using a high level of motion blur. In static images it looks half way decent against DLSS2+. But as soon as you move, it's game over lol. Also it's useless outside of Quality preset. Meanwhile recent versions of DLSS, like 3.5.0 look completely serviceable even at the Ultra Preset with a 4K resolution "start point". I use DLSS2 in every single game that I play because I'm on 4K. When you start at 4K and then use a quality or balanced, it's near impossible to tell the difference. I highly doubt anyone would be able to identify it in a side by side blind comparison. So when I see companies going out of their way to pay off a dev to force use of their shitty tech, claiming to care about gamers, it truly pisses me off. Include all 3 techs and let the market decide.
  17. Yes and I'm playing it at 4K Ultra, DLAA (native super AA) with around 60-80fps. DLSS mod was released for free within 2 hours of launch lol. I played about 15 minutes of FSR2, enough time to realize that FSR still sucks. This company has probably sold millions of copies of this game and can't spend a half days work to properly implement DLSS? "It's too time consuming and difficult for devs!!" That is a pathetic excuse that is parroted around the internet. Thank god for PureDark and his amazing abilities. It took the guy 2 hours to implement DLSS support. I also get an extra 11fps just by forcing on ReBar with inspector. Remember AMD by default has SAM turned on for all games. Nvidia in their infinite wisdom only greenlights some games in their drivers. Stupid.
  18. Wait.. Wait!! hmscott was Scott Herkelman?! I would totally believe that! That guy was the biggest AMD/Radeon Fanboy I've ever met.
  19. These are exactly my findings. The 40 series seem to hit a voltage wall around 1.13-1.15v. Even though my XOC 4080 vBIOS can push 1.195v, there is absolutely no use for it unless doing LN2 or similar. You can't cool it and the chip does not seem to scale with it unless using crazy exotic cooling. I've actually just been using the regular Asus 420w vBIOS on this 4080 as 1.11v seems to be plenty until I decide if I really want to tinker with water on an 80 series card. Had to go back and beat my old score and show them it wasn't a once off. #1 and #2 are mine. They can have bronze.
  20. It's possible he blew a fuse on the card? Hopefully he updates us when he pulls the block.
  21. The guy that unlocked nvflash for 40 series flash, full sent his 4090 with 1.3v (using external elmor labs) LOL. 1175w and it now rests in Valhalla. But he took the world record for Solar Bay just previous to this run lol. https://www.3dmark.com/search#advanced?test=sb P&cpuId=&gpuId=1509&gpuCount=0&gpuType=ALL&deviceType=ALL&storageModel=ALL&memoryChannels=0&country=&scoreType=overallScore&hofMode=false&showInvalidResults=false&freeParams=&minGpuCoreClock=&maxGpuCoreClock=&minGpuMemClock=&maxGpuMemClock=&minCpuClock=&maxCpuClock=
  22. Yes unfortunately this is a Galax XOC vBIOS for the 4080. 1000w and temp limits removed, true XOC. I have no idea why this is only available for the 4080 and not the true KING 4090. Makes absolutely no sense. My guess is that this was never intended to leak. After Nvflash was patched I've finally been able to flash it and use it. Works perfectly on my TUF 4080 model. It allows me to set 1195mV which is incredible, but impossible for me to cool that much voltage unfortunately. I am looking into grabbing a block for the card to let it fly a bit. It's a 4080, but at least now I have some real voltage to do some tuning with. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/255340/255340
  23. LOL that burned TUF 4090 is my wife’s cousin. He sent me that image the other day. Apparently Asus is taking care of him and doing expedited shipment.
  24. Interesting, that's very interesting.. Grabbed 4th on Speedway https://www.3dmark.com/search#advanced?test=sw P&cpuId=&gpuId=1520&gpuCount=0&gpuType=ALL&deviceType=ALL&storageModel=ALL&memoryChannels=0&country=&scoreType=overallScore&hofMode=false&showInvalidResults=false&freeParams=&minGpuCoreClock=&maxGpuCoreClock=&minGpuMemClock=&maxGpuMemClock=&minCpuClock=&maxCpuClock= https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/98720862 Got some major testing to do tonight. I need a waterblock and chiller now. I can't cool 1195mV. The temps go wild way too fast. So now it's a delicate balance between voltage and clocks and temps to not throttle below what 1110mV would have given me.
