I literally made a YouTube video saying exactly this. If you are crashing during shader compilations or the game, then guess what, YOU AREN'T STABLE lol. But a lot of "tuners" set undervolts or XMP/Memory OC and get away with it until they don't. I had 0 crashes during initial launch, game ran actually pretty good, with some new scene 5 second fps drops. But overall very smooth and beautiful fun game. But what do you expect, PC gaming has had a huge explosion of normies over the last 5 years. More and more iBUYPOWER GAMERZZZ that don't truly understand what they're doing. I'm happy they're here, but the collective knowledge pool has definitely taken a hit.

Did you download the right year version? Did you follow the Github instructions? You have to right click on the "Raw" area on github and click "save link as" and name it how it says in the instructions. Otherwise it won't boot the file. It took me awhile to figure this out as well, super annoying. The instructions aren't clear for a reason. They don't want people easily bricking their laptops. Also I tested 3000%+ coverage, over an hour of 6000 CL36 stable. Been having absolutely no errors or issues. Rock solid. Pretty good uplift over stock 5600 CL46. We paid for HX CPUs with unlock multis and memory OC. May as well use out laptops to full performance.

Head over to the Lenovo discord channel. There are a bunch of pretty good owners in there. In there you will find the instructions on how to create a USB thumbdrive that a modder/bios guy created that allows you to access the hidden menus. When you use the USB you can get into the menus, and then when you reboot without it the menus are normal. This is good because you don't have to flash a custom BIOS and no worry about warranty. But like I said, you can tweak something you shouldn't and could end up with a brick or soft brick. Look at the memory die on the DIMM. You likely also have SK Hynix, looking at the part number that starts with "H" if you have an "A" in the middle of that sequence you have "A-Die". If you have an "M" you have "M-Die". Most A-Dies have AGBD as the model, regardless of brands. I've seen 4x different brands all use this version of A-Die so far.

I've had the 4080 model about 1.5 months. My first unit was sent back to Lenovo due to a huge dent in my Vapor Chamber. It looked like a tiny hammer was dropped right on the vapor chamber and left a large impression teh size of a quarter. After some back and forth with Lenovo they sent me a brand new unit. My original unit had SK Hynix "M-Dies" 5600 CL46. My new unit has SK Hynix "A-Dies" 5600 CL46. They actually overclock easily to 5600 CL36, but never tested upping the ratio to test higher speeds. I installed my 990 Pro 2TB this afternoon, as well as some Kingston Fury 5600 CL40 A-Dies 2x16gb. These originally did not work above 4800 until a fix was discovered by the discord group. I am now running them at 6000 CL36 seen here. I have yet to have any crashes, BSOD, etc. Tested some memory tests, games and what not and all seems good to go. Although I can't really say I recommend this for novice users since it does involve using a way into the hidden BIOS and could potentially brick the unit if you mess something up or tune something you shouldn't.

Battlefield 2042 is a great memory stability test TBH. After I've done initial testing, stability, it's actually one of my go to games to test for stability. If it can pass a few evenings of BF2042, it's generally stable for daily.

@tps3443 Sounds like you got a good MC! There are tons of people that are struggling to get a proper 13900K/KS MC to get 8000+. It's a real lottery, just like Gear 1 3866+ was for 11th gen. Just re-ran the SP and it shows SP71 lol. I think it has to be stock to get an accurate reading, but it previously showed 76 I believe. Either way I don't put much stock in the MC SP, it's just not accurate IMO. I had a 13900KS with SP80 MC and it also had trouble with 8000 at same volts. So MC SP is a joke IMO. You gotta test each chip. I've stopped chasing or changing my Asus BIOS/ME. I had an ME/BIOS revision jack up my stability previously. I've been rock stable for over a month at my current 7466 CL34 Dual Rank setup and I'm super happy. Newer BIOS and ME is out, but I'm not upgrading until I see a reason. Especially since Asus bundles BIOS with ME and you CANNOT roll back. That is total BS.

My best IMC is my SP106 13900K. My KS could not run 8000 without pumping the IMC voltage. My 13900K is godlike and easily does 8200 SR and I'm using 64gb in Dual Rank 7466 CL34 1.35v IMC and 1.455 VDD/VDDQ. I also have another K that could not run 8000 easily. So the IMC lottery to get 8000+ with 13900K is real. You could get a banger core/cache and shit IMC or opposite. Which is why I main my 13900K and the 13900KS in my rig that isn't even in use right now lol (no GPU). Sold my 4090 FE hoping Nvidia would drop the Ti or Titan soon and didn't want to have to take such a loss on it. Figure I'll use my laptop when I'm in the mood to living room game or when were using it to stream to the TV, and my second rig goes back to it's intended purpose, a hand me down rig.

With enough cooling, even a lowly binned SP104 is good. I have you beat though. I have an SP103 13900KS lol. I believe it's the lowest possible score that meets the Intel cutoff for KS. Talk about hitting the lottery!

Honestly I went with the quick, spread and cure with heat while using it. I've used this company quite a few times and they are great. Even allow returns within 30 days if not happy for any reason. I recently returned some laptop DDR5 and it was no questions asked easy RMA. You will wait about 2 weeks to get your $$$ back, but they've always accepted returns. I've also returned a CPU in the past. Their prices are usually great, beating almost all competitors. The ram I mentioned was also special order for me, and it shipped same day lol! The product wasn't in their warehouse, so they order direct from manufacturer and it shipped same day. Not saying that will happen, but usually their special orders move quickly. It's sorta like cutting out the middle-middle man.

Anyone else excited for this game? I need to live out my inner childhood Starship Trooper memories. Really looking forward to this one. Hoping they don't mess it up, but this early gameplay looks great.

Honestly I'd try and find a good AMD U series laptop. The newer iGPUs are pretty decent and performance should be higher with better battery life.

Stock firmware, using a bypass method created by someone else (usb stick) to enter advanced/hidden BIOS menus. It isn't a flash, just unlocks in real-time to enter advanced menu. If you reboot without usb stick, default menus back. So no worry about brick or warranty. This is also with stock 32gb DDR5s which are SK Hynix M-Dies. Far better than the shitty 5600 CL46 profile.

Were in. BIOS memory tuning on the Lenovo. Also got real-time memory tuning via XTU.

💯💯 I have 3x on the way. Should be here this week, just waiting for the USPS to deliver them. I got myself one, one for my second rig which actually no longer has a 4090, and one for my brothers rig. They definitely have function and look aesthetically clean.

I have the have the 5600 CL40 kit for my Legion 13900HX.. Sitting in the closet. I purchased both the 2x16gb kit and 2x32gb kit. Both are A-Dies, both will not run above 4800 CL40 because reasons? They're Plug and Play, no XMP required and yet Lenovo still blocks them on an "UNLOCKED" CPU. It's shit like this that pisses me off. They also only require 1.1v which is stock JEDEC stuff. The stock Legion ram is 5600 CL46, and still these won't even run at that speed. Alienware may work flawlessly with them, Razer Blade works fine with them. But both Asus and Lenovo are no go for now. I even have unlocked BIOS and they have no XMP or way to make them work. It's like they have a whitelist for memory. GSkill has some 4800 CL34 that will work but those are Samsung and I'm not gonna bother going down to 4800 from 5600. I sent the 64gb kit back to Provantage after I discovered they were a no go. I got an great price on them too which is a shame. Dual Rank A-Dies in a laptop at 5600 would have been great, but maybe down the line we can get it sorted.

This I agree with. The 7800X3D will be a great fire and forget CPU like the 5800X3D. The "16" core part is trying to do too much and ends up sorta being a jack of no trades. But price wise I don't totally agree. A $449 8 core part that will have margin of error gaming performance benefit over a tuned 13900K isn't exactly a slam dunk. You can grab a 13900K for $560 right now. While it is certainly more expensive, the 13900K comes with almost double the multicore performance. So $110 difference for almost identical gaming perf and DOUBLE multicore. Still if all you want to do is game, you can grab the 7800X3D, pair it with some 6000 CL30 XMP DDR5, set it and forget it. That on the cheapest B series board you can get lol. For some this is all that will matter and it will sell like crazy IMO.

This chip is terrible. Frame Chasers was right. As much as the guy can be abrasive, many times he is right. Nobody is paying him off, he buys his own hardware (mostly funded by his "consults").

I would keep the vBIOS and attempt a clean Nvidia driver install. I've seen it where a new vBIOS will cause that black screen issue until a clean driver install. After a couple failed attempts to use PTM 7950 thermal pads on my desktop rig, I gave up on it until the new 7958 came to market in paste form. I ordered a few tubes from Ebuy7 and they arrived this morning from FedEx. Stock clocks, undervolted, and running quiet fans on the 420m AIO. The core to core deltas are the best I've ever had. Initial results were about half as good. But after an afternoon of curing and results are amazing. Far better than my previous Gelid Extreme stuff. Best of all this stuff just paints on, easiest paste I've ever applied.

Wasn't that long ago that getting 7000 CL32 Single Rank was a challenge. 7466 CL34 DUAL RANK no big deal. They get pretty warm fast, the dual ranks are pretty difficult to keep cool. I need water lol. Edit: Those temp readings are in error on the RAM. Temps were 49-50c during entire stability test after heatsoaked. It's a temp reading bug that has persisted across numerous D5 dimms, various brands, no idea where it comes from.

Thought I would add a stock CB23 run. This is out of box "Performance" mode, with fans on AUTO, flat on kitchen island temps.

So far I am loving the new Legion 7i 23'. There are a few quirks here and there and I'm still learning how to tame the bast, but so far this thing check plenty of boxes for me. I really love that Lenovo included options in the BIOS to enable overclocking support and ability to disable Realtime undervolt protection. Something a few other brands are completely neglecting! Looking at you ASUS! Because these options are available, you can undervolt, overvolt, tune and tweak to your liking! No need for a custom BIOS, or "hack" of the bios to enable said features. I love it! Thankfully the cooling system they provide in this 16" beast is actually very good. Not even close to my max, just a relatively tuned for low voltage/power run. For 159w I am blown away by this perf. This was run with in regular priority, not real time run lol. I just got the laptop this afternoon and have been getting things setup and trying to learn the laptop. I'll update if I find some glaring flaw in my testing.
