  1. Still going through old installs to update them and see if they're worth to stay installed and do some simple mods if feasible. RDR2 last night and I was nervous since I put in about 7-8 new mods and it's been a while. I had 2-3 simple ones in there already worked fine, like call horse from any distance etc It fired up and worked fine and I noticed my/my horses cores don't drain now so those mods are working, turn off the c(h)ores drain HUD part. Also no hair/beard growth works, it's visual only but fine. No weapon degradation seemed to work didn't get into combat yet though, cleaned them all to see. Dynamic Seasons couldn't tell I didn't have much time to play, did seem to change more I guess.
  2. Moved this install to my second nvme definitely smoother, most of the startup stutters were probably just hdd slowness. Still get some slowdown though, the fpp nature and the smashing into things etc is just that way, definitely prefer TPP for open world and jumping climbing games so the whole screen isn't taken up by shaking/smashing etc seems like smoother fps etc that way. -I think only around 5 or so of those mods work, since this isn't a mod friendly game, if you have a mod changing something down the load order it won't take effect if an earlier mod has the same parameter in it, hence you need to unpack/open with notepad++, merge if necessary, then repack etc What a pain. Still I'm fine w how it is now at least the AIO really cleans up the smudgy view that jerkland thought was so clever and immersive.
  3. Just wanted to update this with my experience in ACody which I fired up after 2 years. I just copied the dxvk files into the exe folder. For me the lows came way up from 30s to 50s and I have it locked to 60 max via NCP, do that for all my games. I also cranked up almost all settings to max and it looks great. Game is too much of a todo list type of thing though and it's too big or feels that way, traversal time is a big issue in the world and the various enemies all over are too cookie cutter stuff, copypaste. You have the cave ones, the fort ones, the camping ones etc After a few dozen it's not that interesting anymore. And the cultist aspect is even more chores. I never made it to Atlantis too much work for a game, maybe dl a 100% save to get there. I had 136hrs on my last save, it's enough already lol They really need to remove denuvo as well, after 5 years is piracy really an issue? How many pirates would bother to buy this anyways? They lost nothing but instead still pay denuvo fees and the effect it has on the game afa stutters etc And this was cracked pretty soon after coming out, no pirate is going to buy it but whatever. Still 60$ for the basic version too, 110$ for both dlcs I mean come on. I'm not aware that this benefits ACor but put the dxvk files in there anyway, probably fire it up soon but I don't recall the same stutters and drops in that one, it's the better game, smaller, focused, more interesting visually and better main quest. World is more varied and interesting etc
  4. I finally fired this up and the various patches have made it playable now, there's also an awesome trainer on gamecopyworld that has tons of options including 3rd person view at the touch of a button, free fly, no clip, etc it's the +21 one there really cool way to sort of mod it. I'm just past the alien ship segment and it's nostalgic but definitely old even with it all cranked up but it does look great in places. I got FC2 vibes for sure. The controls are ok but take some practice and the tank entering/exiting controls are not even in the settings section so I had to hoof it after accidentally hitting the exit button whatever it was, as per usual I use an xbone pad for comfort. Analog is way better imo. Playing at the hard setting and taking out the NK elite suited guys takes either a missile launcher or tons of bullets, easier to take out tanks lol Eh it's just a quick run through for me, I didn't bother with 2/3 remasters I think 3 didn't really need it for those of us who are not going to do RT etc and don't have 4k screens. Was never a huge crysis guy. I can definitely feel the Predator theme etc
  5. Fired up GTAV after a couple of years and it's still a masterpiece, obviously with modern equipment you can crank this up and it's even more alive world that looks great. Of course the random npcs look just ok, nothing close to cp77 but that's really all that's needed and then you can have tons of them with little perf impact. I have tons of mods too. Looks great locked to 60 for convenience. I didn't have time to delve more than an hour or so though may get back into it. Thinking of dl a 100% save and then starting a new game, I'm not sure if it has NG+ or not. I'm sure at some distant point it will get a remaster w all the effects and dlss etc The delay to 6 was because of RDR2 which is also an open world masterpiece, and I'm gearing up to fire that up again after a year or so. I moved it to an SSD and dled a lot of mods, mostly QOL stuff. One of the best ones I found was turning off the chore housekeeping garbage of horse feeding, player feeding core stuff, hair not growing etc It's not one mod but a few of them. I've been going through a few old non-uninstall games like ACody, I have dxvk in there and it really helped with the lows, now it doesn't go down to 30s anymore stays 50s and it's locked to 60 max like all my games via NCP. Average FPS is 60 and it's stable now. I had problems with terrible flicker and narrowed it down to making sure Vsyc was turned on, I've come to the conclusion that turning it off in most games results in higher fps and much zippier but in this one, which after 6 years still has denuvo, it's a must for me to not have screen flickering.
  6. I played it a ton when it first came out on pc, it was pretty big still have it installed somewhere I think. It is a really good looking game and fun to play.
  7. Fired up theHunter COW since it has an new to me map, new england and it's a mix of the PNW map and Hirschfelden imo, beautiful. No new animals here though. Has an annoying bug that a modder already fixed, when looking through binocs the bottom of the screen isn't black but a thin strip of the normal world around, pretty amateur stuff from a dev, they don't seem to do much play testing. I enabled FSR but it's still just V1, since this is a slow game it's not too bad an issue but I think back in Dec when the new update/map came out FSR 2.1 was out for a month or two, why devs are so lazy to update that is indicative of gaming. I read that even RDR2 still has FSR v1! sheesh. And obviously DLSS would be best, not available so far though. It does not have a sharpness slider either so it's def over sharpened still gorgeous though. For such a huge open map game it really only uses 50% of cpu/gpu at 1080p, lots of trees foliage and such, animal here and there. Each map of 15 at this point is as large as the GTAV map so it's gigantic but you have to load only one map at a time. Smooth as butter locked to 60fps, may go DSR 2k and see how it goes.
  8. I think the saves are in the mydocuments folder not in the game install folder, cpdr has a crappy save system, way too big a file for one save means huge sizes for a whole folder of saves. Yeah I'm guessing it would be like 50gb if I added the next gen onto it, may be worth it I got the idea that it would be like 70gb somewhere.
  9. Someone on reddit says gog final installed size is only about 47gb, my original complete is 36gb so it's not that much more. Can anyone lookup their TW3NG actual installed final size and reply back? DLSS would be nice probably not much difference from original for me with that option going.
  10. Was watching this to see if the extra 50gb or so of install space is worth it, not convinced atm though, have to find ssd space for it and it's at a premium for me with all the older non-uninstall games like gta4-5, acod/aco, rdr2, arkham knight collection, thCOW, cp77 etc already taking up a ton of ssd/nvme space. Have to research how much NEW game content was added besides graphics and other tweaks to the original though, could make a difference. Since I'm already at 2k/60 on the original probably not worth it though.
  11. Here's an article at dsog, john's usually pretty good at giving links and he's included a couple there for both FSR and DLSS updates that are github, however the dlss link has a bunch of dev stuff it's not just the dlss update dll like techpowerup has, some tech documentation by nvidia for devs using dlss etc 127mb file. Not sure about the FSR update will give it a try. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nvidia-dlss-2-v3-1-1-amd-fsr-2-v2-2-0-have-been-released/
  12. Curious if anyone has tried Returnal seems to be the latest big release I guess a port or something from sony. Next up are COH3 and Atomic Heart but I really want Resident Evil 4 Remake, love the series and played the RE4 HD edition a couple times through but man those controls are awful and the camera is atrocious. Kinda like Silent Hill 2 one of my favs but I don't want to go back to that camera and those controls, I think they are remaking that thankfully.
  13. Yeah if you move or don't have the room for storage or shelf space books can be a pain, I have half a dozen or so and a few in my storage unit, rare books, but I mainly use an old android tablet and a microsd card, thousands of books and archive.org and guttenberg etc have millions of free ones, epubs also way smaller so tons of books on the microsd card. Had a kobo a few years ago e-ink but it was junk.
  14. Nah not interested dude, 4k was called 4k for whatever reason and it IS 4X the pixels of [(your version here-K)] ---aka 1080p---,shown clearly above, despite what others imagine. Not going to go deeper into this as it's trivial/pointless. If you don't like me calling it 1k fine, but that's what I refer to it here as in some places, have fun.
  15. 1k=1080p, 2k=1440p, 4k=2160p, 4k has 4x the pixels of 1080p so nope that's accurate. You multiply the full screen spec and 4k is 4x that of 1k's. 1080x1920=2,073,600, 2160x3840= 8,294,400=4x2073600
  16. COH1 still one of my favorites, not that great graphically but still fun, I use an old Cheat Happens trainer to make it not too much work for a game lol COH2 was too online focused and complicated imo never got into it. The offline skirmishes in COH1 have hundreds of free maps by modders so it's endless really.
  17. http://www.uderzo.it/main_products/space_sniffer/ Spacesniffer is a nice graphical way to see the relative sizes of what's on your disk, usually only takes a few seconds to build the image too, since folder sizes aren't given in the "details" mode it's useful for a folder of folders. Used it for years works fine since w7 up to w10 not sure about 11 but probably works fine there too.
  18. Didn't notice much difference other than the sharpening in 2413 works better than any version I've tried including 3.1.1. It's too bad they called it DLSS3 because people are going to get confused now that DLSS2 has v3.1.1 and the difference between the two technologies isn't known by most people. Someone on Nexus has a way to replace DLSS2 with DLAA which is just better TAA without the downscale/upscale of DLSS2, so no perf benefit but if you have the extra power probably look better idk haven't tried it yet. And most people don't realize that DLSS2 and DLSS3 can both run concurrently and in fact will need to for 2k+/4k to get the very high FPS that FG/DLSS3 needs so you don't notice the fugly fake frames. Someone mentioned going from 70fps w the DLAA replacement and NO FG and then getting 120FPS with FG enabled at the same time. Would get even higher fps if they just used regular DLSS2 and DLSS3 together. This is all in cp77 btw
  19. https://www.pcgamer.com/2023-games-new-upcoming/ Looks like a couple of interesting games in feb to me. COH3, and Yakuza spinoff Ishin.
  20. Looks kinda hard to use though, they should have had two half screens that folded to the sides imo stick a spreadsheet on one and a browser on the other main screen free for other stuff.

  22. IF it's bona fide full fat bitrate 4k not streaming 4k, the bitrates don't lie. I've been to bb and other places seen supposedly 4k stuff, didn't wow me and I have no 4k anything at home. Of course I'm not sitting there for 20mins either. Eh at least 4k tvs are pretty much the same nominal cost range as 1080 ones were, pc/laptop screens another story though. Just glad there are plenty of 1k tvs out there at appropriately lower prices, probably on the extinction list though. 8k like new OS, just only thing available for buyers of new equipment down the road, nothing magic about it.
  23. yeah it's the trick of side by side comparison, if you don't upgrade and don't have a quick switch ability it's not really an issue and depends on what you watch too, classics not that much difference, is an old bw film going to be that much better upscaled? probably not. I think gaming is probably the best way to see the quality upgrade. Of course modern film/tv made with 4k equipment is going to look a lot better but as I said very little out there that is good.
  24. Bitrate via netflix for 4k is like 15Mbps, a full 1080p blu ray bitrate is 40Mbps, saw that myself when re encoding a couple years ago down to like 20MBps for a digital copy. I realize that they probably used a different compression algo though always improving no doubt, more from less don't change pixels that don't change results in lower bitrate etc 4k blu ray is about 90Mbps-128. For me it's the motion that was most noticeable much more fluid w the 1k bd. And 4x the pixels at a lower bitrate is going to be better/comparable but calling it 4k is a stretch imo always put that streaming on the end there.
  25. Was a little annoyed at the edgerunners ending. Whole show was fairly psychotic not into the hyper violence and gore stuff but the ending fits in. I'm assuming there's some source material somewhere which explains "atom" smasher and his deal, just call him "nuke" for short lol The episodes were about 20mins of real story, lots of credits before and after. Eh can't see where they'd go from there since in CP77 the events were shortly before that from the small blurb "mission" in there, come on CPDR lazy much?
