Agreed! I'm still unsure why they chose this path? It makes zero sense to me as to why they'd disable HT. Is their silicon unable to withstand the higher demand or are they punting like AMD has in the gpu market? Maybe for 1 year? -

I checked Default memory settings at 8000mhz before I walked out of the room, and they are some unholy large numbers. I just glanced real quick, and it said something like 63-68-68.... blah blah. 🤣 Definitely not tuned yet! -

Installed the 9950X this morning, quick CB23 run, (not optimized). I'd say that's a pretty big uplift from the 39,700 score I had with the 7950X. Latest MSI bios. -

I've never been a Powercolor fan, but I've heard good things about their red devil line. 🤷♂️ -

Hi gang, I've missed this place, but have been super busy. I've managed to snag a 9950X, and will be looking for some time to test it. Hope everyone is well. -

I just don't have that sort of patience. You doing a raffle, or just giving it to someone you know? $499 msrp is reasonable for a 9950x https://www.tweaktown.com/news/99439/amd-ryzen-9-9950x-pricing-leaked-499-9900x-for-399-9700x-299-and-9600x-229/index.html -

The 7950x will run circles around the 7800X3D for encoding. Ido not have the experience with WoW that @electrosoft has, but the 7950x is no slouch for gaming. -

Microsoft entertainment keyboard back in the day was the most I ever spent. I think it was around $250, but that was 20 years ago money. -

Have you had a chance to try the new bios for the Carbon yet? I have had zero time in the office except to print some documents. -

So, I just read this at Tom's hardware. I couldn't care less about single core performance, it just shows how wanky everything is until release day. AMD's Ryzen 9000 single-core performance again impresses in early Geekbench results — 9700X, 9600X dominate previous-gen AMD and Intel CPUs https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amds-ryzen-9000-single-core-performance-again-impresses-in-early-geekbench-results-9700x-9600x-dominate-previous-gen-amd-and-intel-cpus -

I agree wholeheartedly on single thread scores. It doesn't interest me in the least. I'd rather kiss my sister than to sit and endure a single threaded benchmark. On another note, besides my hardware addiction, I've just purchased another money sucking hobby. -

@electrosoft @jaybee83 this is good news, and somewhat surprising. Zen 5 launch prices expected to be lower than zen 4 launch prices! https://www.bundle.app/en/technology/amd-may-be-doing-something-unprecedented-with-ryzen-9000-C6626952-2124-40D2-8623-0ABF6F065C95 -

On another note, I just saw this story. Overclocking fully supported? https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-9000x3d-series-rumored-to-fully-support-overclocking-zen5-gets-improved-ddr5-memory-support It's only mentioned for the X3D chips. If that's the case, I'll wait for them instead of getting the standard X. -

Hopefully 8000 ram as well. I am still two versions below this one. Which is v1F. I would love to see post times improved also. Once I am to the boot menu it's fairly fast. Changing ram settings makes it horribly and painfully slow. It's like it's checking to make sure the settings you changed will work or fail, but it hangs on code 15 for like 30 seconds. -

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement, and that's why I stick with the standard Ryzen. On that note, there's this also. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amds-ryzen-9000-wont-beat-the-previous-gen-x3d-models-in-gaming-but-theyll-be-close-improved-3d-v-cache-coming-too -

I agree on the motherboard aspect. I'm hoping there isn't too much difference between the 600, and 800 series, because I finally have many of the bugs ironed out with my X670. It's been quirky, to say the least, and as much as I'd love to have a shiny new taichi x870, I'd prefer to hang with this gen for maybe another year.
