  1. Well, well, well. A new software package for the programs I need for work are now available on iPadOS. Hmmmmmm. That’s interesting for sure. I may try doing all my work on the iPad first and see how the work flow is. I would like to get a Pro so I can use an ultrawide monitor for when I am at my desk however. I will keep my windows desktop for when I need to use my flatbed scanner and large format photography printer. Let’s see how this works! I guess to replace my dying pc I will get an iPad Pro and all the fixin’s. If not I am going to a MacBook Air as I cannot find a windows pc that appeals to me.
  2. I got W11 installed on my wife's system without issue using FlyOOBE. worked great. Just pushed the install through without losing software or files on her pc. Took about 30 mins on a 4405u cpu.
  3. Because of software constraints (needing windows to run certain software I need for work) I have to stick with windows, and therefore I will be replacing my dell notebook with something new. What that is I don't know. I have to look at efficiency of a portable eGPU unit plugged into the laptop for video/photo editing work. I have been looking at a new one with a 7600XT in it. If, when it is plugged into the TB4 port of a laptop it gives the power of a 2070 super to a 2080 super, I will just get a new laptop, plug that in and be done. I could not do the iPad. The software was not able to work on it.
  4. When mine can't run the software I want to run anymore, its time to upgrade. This time however, the reason is for slow hardware failure. It works 90% of the time, but the other 10 it craps the bed.
  5. Yea. Working on my personal server today actually. Need to get it fired up and working as we are pulling completely from MS and their bull.
  6. Yeah I know. I am going to wait for the release version and update my little linux box to see how it works. I am going to give it, the new version of elementary OS, and Mint a go to see which one wins for our primary OS. I know garuda etc are out. Just too much screwing around. The main players for us will offer ease of use and lightweight. Who am I kidding, all linux distros are lightweight compared to the elephant that is win11.
  7. Please cool it with the R word. I am sure you can find another one to use.
  8. I am finalizing my off line data setup here now and getting it fired up. Once that happens I will be removing all our stuff from OneDrive/OneNote. Next will be going to LINUX ASAP. Even the wife says it's time. I have to keep my son on Windows where he has autism and change is very hard for him, but he does not have any real stuff on his pc only gaming. Keep him on a basic MS account with no extras, besides maybe game pass PC edition. For us however, we will be running linux for all our stuff. I will use my iPad for work software for our inspection business.
  9. I was just reading through the zorin os 18 build is shaping up to be awesome. Lots of new visuals and some great new features. Moving to it as soon as it comes out. I have a good grasp on how zorin works and it is a great replacement for windoze
  10. I noticed when I went in to look at how much game pass increased for us here in Canada that the PC only plan only jumped by 3 dollars, not 50% more. We get all the benefits of new games on release day, 400 titles available just like the Ultimate tier just not the Xbox usage. I am ok with that. ha ha.
  11. I noticed the other day when I went to the task mangler the other day that my graphics ram is now showing 32gb. It used to show 8gb as max allocated. Did intel update drivers and software to make use of more ram in the system for graphics use if you have it?
  12. I write scripts, blog posts, books and other articles. keyboard is extremely important for me.
  13. Since this is talking about chargers for dell systems, Is there anyone out there that makes a USB C on one end and Dell Barrel on the other? So we can use smaller charging blocks? I travel alot and have a travel charger I bought off Amazon some years ago, but its starting to show it's age and I cannot find a replacement.
  14. Got my linux dell back running as well. i think it's a sleep function issue. Either way, I am so happy not to be typing on the logitech iPad keyboard. That's the worst. No way I could do that full time. My Linux box is an 11 inch dell 2 in 1 and the keyboard is way roomier than the keyboard for the iPad. I am happy for now that I have something other than the ipad. I could not see me using that full time for anything other than reading magazines. I will be moving it to my son and selling his 9th gen to fund an acer iconia X12 tablet bundle. I am an android user so might as well steer into that skid.
  15. I got my laptop back up and running. I did a "repair" on the system when it came up on the screen. Most time it's just a black screen but this time it booted to support assist repair. Dunno. Got me baffled. Seems software related as once it's up and running it works fine.
  16. The iPad for what I have been doing is decent. There are a few things I cannot do or, don’t know how to do. But they are minor in nature. I am going to download lumafusion for video editing to see how it goes.
  17. And it’s down again. Garbage. Thankfully, I got my iPad back working correctly after a borked beta update. I am back on release updates now and It’s going to be my main pc moving forward. See how it goes.
  18. 2.5. Got my linux machine back up and running again. Dunno what happened there.
  19. Well well well. It seems as if we are going to find out if my iPad can be used as a daily driver notebook. My dell laptop crapped the bed yesterday morning. That’s 3 in the past month. Note to everyone, DON’T BUY DELL. My main laptop died, my linux system died and my wife’s dell laptop died. Just waiting for my desktop to croak now. Thank dog I never bought a g series for my son. My new system will be arm based for sure. Not sure if I am going to the dark side with a new MacBook Air or a surface laptop. I will have to wait until the new year either way so The iPad 10th gen will be getting a work out. I will be replacing my current Logitech keyboard with the new zagg version for better keyboard work.
  20. Thats the fun with android. Choice. Check out vivo, red magic and their parent company, as well as nothing. I am taken by the nothing lineup lately just for their quirky style and minimal and futuristic OS. Very cool.
  21. There are always flaws with the flawless devices. ha ha.

    DELL Warranties?

I am going to say yes. They "dell" have gotten worse in the past few years for support. I was a dell fan, now, not so much. 3 of my Dell laptops have wake issues where they don't turn on or just fire up with black screen. It's a known problem via many people on their support site and Dell are offering no fix or remedy. I am figuring you will have to contact them and do a transfer to keep said warranty intact.
  23. I have both the P8P and the s25 Ultra, I prefer the 8 pro in every single way. I hate all the garbage in the OneUI Skin. We both (my wife and I) use Microsoft launcher to get rid of the google search bar, and add icon packs. Other than that all that whizbang'ery of OneUi is added bloat. We get through a day of heavy use without issue and I have never had a slow down because of a "slow" processor. Benchmarks don't me a fiddlers fart in real world use. As proven by my laptop benching better on affinity photo with my Xe Graphics from 2020 vs a radeon 890m from 2025.
  24. It is but we keep our systems for a long time. My current dell is from 2020 and in all honesty, I do love the system. The issue is I have to fight some times to turn it on. Meaning there is a software issue dell refuses to fix on their laptops. You press the power button and it either does not produce graphics display or it does for a second and goes black or distorted. I have to boot my system 3 or 4 times to get it to work. It's a known dell laptop issue, and 3 of ours are affected. No bios updates etc fix it. There are many many reports of this issue on the Dell forums and there are no fixes. Then, I am looking at the current state of windows as well. The software I will be using is available on Mac for the most part with one program available on windows, Mac OS and android. Supposedly there is a web based version as well. So that would be my only stumbling point. I only have 2 laptops on the windows side that would work for me which is the Razer 14 and the Asus proart/G 16. I am missing items with both. Plus with the price of both of them I could get 2 macbook air's configured the way I want for both of us. The iPad I have now is working fine and doing the things I need. Would more power be better for my creative work? sure, but if I got the macbook it would be a great companion device.
