  1. Or uninstall windows. Linux is where it's at. And, with the US governments 10 percent buy in into intel. I would NEVER purchase an intel product again. It's the american version of Huawei at this point. I am removing all INTEL cpus from my household moving forward. NO THANKS. Just not sure if they can push a software update to install spyware on my older cpus or not.
  2. I tried elementary os before. Seems alot of the software is not available on their app store. Can you just laod via terminal? Also. What are your thoughts on Linux on arm?
  3. We are almost a year in, How's the chair holding up?
  4. I don't know. Every chair I have ever owned with that mesh style back has not lasted more than 2 years of heavy use. I don't think I would buy another one to be honest. I love fractal, but that choice of backrest is not a great one.
  5. So they have Ai 'training' at work now. We have to sit in front of a computer and try to sell ai a phone. Meanwhile, our frontline software which we use to actually sell products and make money are borked constantly. I can't wait for my year end "anonymous" review of the company. I don't care. I voice my opinion. Can't wait! I just realized how slow stuff is on my pc compared to my little linux box. Everything is clutter free and fast! SOOOO nice. Once my son is back in school and I can use his monitor I am getting my server setup and working with TrueNAS and some sort of software to remote access it while on the road and MS is gone from our computers!
  6. Moved my CSV file to brave. It's all use now. EFF MS. I am back to work after taking a mountain bike vacation with my fam. Once my next round of days off come in 6 days, I will move all my onedrive files to a HDD and get my wife's and son's off their onedrive as well. Adios MS.
  7. New background for my linux system.
  8. Is it that bad? I am using Zorin on my little Dell and I love it. I am "THIS CLOSE" to getting new drives for my laptop and desktop and installing Linux on both of them now. I am just done with everything. Clean and mean is linux and I love it. It makes old systems that are bogged down by the sewage Microsoft has pumped into windows, feel light and swift. I would save thousands on new hardware by putting free software on the older systems and mosey on and do my work. The system I am using right now is a dell inspiron 3169 with a pentium M3 chip, 4gb of ram and 1tb of sata ssd. and it's just as snappy as my current dell laptop with a 1165g7 chip 64gb of ram and a fast NVME ssd because windows is so bloated and "ai'ed". Windows 12 is going to be a massive dumpster fire too. Done with that.
  9. Aweseome hardware internals let down by trying to be the iPad. OS looks like iPadOS, the exterior, camera, keyboard, pen, etc all are direct copies of the iPad. Shame.
  10. I am back on my main dell notebook now and running win 11 again. I actually find it fine. I am sick of MS pushing co-pilot into everything, and more sick of hearing about recall and copilot vision. That's to far. My wife and I use the basic copilot app for certain things we want but I have it turned off for most all of my software. I was using the linux box for a bit and while, decent, I really don't think it's the right decision for us to use.
  11. My heritage and musical soul!
  12. That was way back when the first and second versions of the phones were released. However, It stuck with me as a consumer and tech fan.
  13. That is a cool tablet for sure, One+ have left a sour taste in my mouth since they were caught ripping people off making fraudulent charges on customers credit cards. I have sworn them off since then.
  14. Does the playstation have these two things?
  15. Between Mint and Zorin, which one would you choose and why? I am looking at moving the rest of the systems to linux here and I am deciding between these two. I know I am going to put my son's gaming laptop on Garuda gaming dragonized. Lots of emulation and games baked in for him.
  16. Just an update for people wanting to run Steam Games. When installing Linux, format your ssd / hdd to EXT4 instead of NFTS . This makes proton work properly with all steam OS games from what I have been told. I will be trying it for sure. It will be a slow process as I am going to upgrade Colin's system while doing the switch to Linux. I am going to put a 4 or 8tb fast SSD in it, 64gb of ram upgrade as well. That way I will kill three birds with one stone, a fresh new ssd install of Linux garuda gaming on his system with his Games installed. I hope I can get Garuda to be a little more user friendly for installing and using games.
  17. I think I finally have the wife talked into moving to mint or Zorin. I know how to get Space Engine working on my sons system too. I have to format his drive into some other format and it will work better than when it was on windows.
  18. I just hope that Steam makes all games available on the platform be made to work on linux either natively or through proton and run correctly. If that's the case I would say Colin will be moving to Linux. My wife and I will have no issues even though she thinks she would. But if she was using mint, it would a minimal swap from windows 10 she's using at work. I have been using Zorin more and more and enjoying the lack of lagging, and no bullcrap using the OS. I am enjoying Brave as a browser and once I get this or some sort of disto on my main computers, I will be very happy to edit photos, videos etc on it.
  19. I am a sucker for blue purple combos. Here is my lastest desktop. Again, I like clean desktop with no widgets, folders, software etc.
  20. That's promising. What about older Nvidia cards. Do they have issues too? I have a 2070 super in my desktop and my son has a 2060 super in his gaming laptop. Will both of these work properly? Oh, checkout the battery life on my Dell inspiron 3169 this morning when I started it up and went into thunderbird. Not bad for an old budget system running Zorin.
  21. Yeah sabrent are awesome. I was just hoping the cheaper option would work for me as it's just an older 4 hot swap server. At least I got one that has been user proven to work.
  22. Got everything up to date on garuda. Now that I know how to install software, It's great. I love the look of the OS. Will be a daily driver for me I am not sure as some of the inner workings are wonky. But overall, I like it alot. It always comes back to ease of use. No linux distro is as easy to use as Windows. Moreso for someone who has special needs. That's why windows continues to win out for us. Even after all the crap MS is pumping into it, it's just easy.
  23. I'm giving garuda another go today. Doing 420 updates now and trying tk get the apps to show when I install them
  24. The wife is reluctant to switch. I am done however. As I mentioned, as soon as our data is off OneDrive and onto our own server, I will be putting Zorin or Mint on my systems. I think I will use Zorin because of it's touchscreen capabilities. I can't imagine how fast my systems will be with windows 11 gone. The little dell I am using with Zorin on it is easily 2 times faster than with win11 on it.
  25. From what I understand it should as well, but she's an old girl. So, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I just went and found the PCI-E card I bought. GLOTRENDS PA09-HS M.2 NVMe to PCIe 4.0 X4 Adapter with M.2 Heatsink for M.2 NVMe SSD : Amazon.ca: Electronics Again, Don't know if that has anything to do with it either. I am trying to use TrueNAS core as my OS. I have to fire up the system again and take a photo of the main bios screen for someone at acer, so they can see what's going on. I can't wait to get this server running and get my and my families data off onedrive.
