  1. I use it for navigation in the backcountry and if we are in a cabin or hotel room with no tv in the bedroom. When we are outside it's not being used. We enjoy nature plenty...hiking, camping, mountain biking, snowboard, snowshoeing.....etc. FYI.
  2. That's why I like the duo best. NO screen fold. It's slimmer than my iphone 13 when it it's folded. and it's the right size and way to do a folding device for productivity!
  3. You could try some on this list. Seems you may find something suitable there. Apple is re'doing their music app for classical music asap too. My son who has autism loves classical so he is going to enjoy when they finally get that rolled out early in 2023. 13 Best Music Player Apps For iPhone, Free iPhone Music Apps 2023 (techpout.com)
  4. NO, I worked for bell 15 years ago, and I work for them again. Again, no. It's for getting data off of peoples phones who have their lifetime of images and what not lost. When I worked for bell before, phones did not even have cameras, now....nobody backs anything up and people are losing photos etc of loved ones who have passed away etc. If their phone does not turn on and be able to be navigated with, I cannot get their memories back. It's funny how everyone automatically goes to CREEP. Instead of going to oh look, there are pictures of my loved one before they died, I wish i could get those back. I had an older couple come in about a month or so ago, and their daughter was going to court for something. They NEEDED documents that was stored on their dead iPhone. No worky, no documents. I lucked out this time, and contact the guy we send people to for battery an screen replacements. He put in another battery and screen, and got the phone fired up. So NO. It's not CREEPY, it's helping someone get important items back of their crappy technology that breaks easily. I also set up cloud services for each and everyone of these people afterwards and explain to them how it works. At least then, they are protected moving forward for only a few dollars a month.
  5. Intel finally released Unison, their Dell Mobile Connect style app. Back in 2021 they purchased screenovate, who developed Mobile Connect for Dell. They showed it at CES 2022, with great fluidity of communicating between windows devices and apple ios phones. They released it yesterday and I downloaded it this morning. It works great and fast. My wife was sitting with me on the sofa and I sent her an imessage from my notebook, and she got it intstantly, and she replied and I got it instantly. You can also move photos/videos etc all through the app. I am happy they finally got this going as its one feature I was missing via iOS phone that I wanted.
  6. It's not two generations behind on power, it's a few points back on the 4080 for less money. Plus, from everything I can read about it, it's better for the software I run. I don't care about benchmarks etc, I care about real world applications. That being said, I am going in a different direction for this year anyways. My son has shown an interest in doing video, photo and other creative applications himself, so I am going to build my system from parts in my XPS and upgrade a few other things, and take the XPS and pop some parts in it for him. A twofer for the price of one.
  7. Supposedly the new one+ is going to be based off the oppo as they are sister companies. I would never purchase a one+ device because of their shady dealing with customer credit cards in the past without any remorse after getting caught two different times. But, I am thinking the pixel "fold" will be similar as well.
  8. I would go with either the surface duo 2 or the new Oppo Find N2. Both are a much better form factor, and the Samsung screens are breaking alot. I have worked at the bell store for almost a year, and had at least a dozen flips and about 5 folds come back with damaged and nonfunctioning screens. The Oppo, and even more so the duo, do not have these issues with the screens. The second issue with the fold 4 is the cigar sized closed screen. It's useless to do anything on. The Oppo has a nice exterior screen, and the interior screen is still nice and large. Just a better form factor overall.
  9. I agree for gaming, but for video work dual is a different situation. Add in the fact I can get a 2070 super like I have currently for less than half the cost of a 3090ti It would be a great cost effective upgrade. My son is taking to creating stuff on his old computer and it's slow, so I am thinking about getting the parts I need for now, swap into the new case for me, and then using the left overs for him and build him a medium performance desktop out of my xps. Thanks for the information. Now, I have to figure out what I want to do...The Fractal North case is calling my name.....BAD!
  10. Yes, it does happen. 20 million in sales is not 20 million in PROFIT. two different things. We had to pay the building manufacturer etc. Its def. not 20 million in MY bank account
  11. I am trying to get WSA and the play store installed on my wife's Dell 3169. I have windows 11 already on there, just trying to get some info on getting the play store on there to get a few apps she wants. Anyone try this on a similar system?
  12. Did you read where the company went basically bankrupt from those last three jobs? It is to long and hard to explain what happend here, but lets just say those three jobs (gigantic S&!Tstorm) bankrupted our company. We sold the rights to the building line we were selling for, and some equipment. We live in a small town of 18,000 people, there is one other commercial construction company here. I could not just go find another job. It is what it is. I am happy, making enough cash where I can not invest in my new businesses and be based from home in a year or so. It's all good.
  13. Well, considering I am just getting my businesses off the ground now. Don't get me started. I owned a previous construction company that had 20-50 million in sales a year. Took 3 jobs (I told my father, who worked with me, not to take these) in the final year, and tanked our company. Sold what was left, put it into another business that I got cornholed 4000 g in 3 jobs. Then, I thought I wanted to just go to work and collect a paycheck. I started working at Canadian tire doing the small engine mechanic work for them at 15 bucks an hr. It Was fine for the first few weeks, then they put me on parts. I HATED it. Quit there and went to a local hardware store, enjoyed that for a while, again until they fired a slack warehouse worker, and put me doing HIS deliveries plus all my work inside the store. Covid happened and I never went back there (thank God.). That brings me to now. I grabbed the bell sales job when the ole CERB covid benefits ran out. The pay is great. I make the same if not more than my wife who works in healthcare with the government. I only work 20hrs a wk too. So, the gig is OK. I just hate working for others. I cannot handle having a boss. I spent my entire life being the boss at work and being able to have freedom for my family. SOOOOOOOOO, I have begun working on getting our businesses up and running these past few months. They are going online at the end of January or February. Once these are working for us, I will leave Bell and again, have our life we want back. That answer your questions? Basically, my professional life story for the past 15 years condensed into a few sentences.
  14. I do photography, videography, graphics creation, CAD design for wooden furniture etc, online marketing, my wife and I have a clothing company we are starting in Jan. and more. Plus, for right now I work at bell 20hrs a week. To top it all off I write articles for magazines and websites, books and other publications. I have a wide variety of things I rely on my computers for because I want to be home based and self sufficient so we can be with our son 100 percent of the time. He has a year left in school then he's home, so we are building our business brands NOW for when that time comes. We are putting everything into place to be able to travel, work and have time with him for the rest of our lives.
  15. It is when that one port is power, etc. Every extra one counts. Plus, the dell runs on a real OS not a phone OS.
  16. I use mine for navigation in the back country readly magazines and tv purposes when we are in cabins etc with no tv.
  17. If anyone can find the old thread in the NBRChive regarding the full build of the 7720 where the guy swapped in the 1920x1080 screen and black keyboard for it I would love to get the part number for the screen. I would not begin to figure out which panel to use in the system. TIA!
  18. Welcome back! enjoy!
  19. Welcome back. It's great the forum is gaining traction again. Enjoy your time here!
  20. Yes, processed carbs are killer. We are going to be going lower carb in our eating after the new year as well. Keeping carbs to the scattered vegetable or homemade bread item. I may get a pasta maker and make our own. Cut out sugar etc wherever possible.
  21. The wife and I were talking about this ad nauseum for the past month or so. We have decided that we are putting in a nice big greenhouse and planting a garden this spring on our property. We will never be vegitarian/vegan. We cannot do it. However, where we source our products from makes all the difference. We will pay more, but we know where our products are coming from moving forward. There is a local farm about 40 min away from here who raises their own cattle and by strict guidelines. We are only going to be purchasing beef (when we do eat it) from there. Same with pork and chicken, Local farmers only. I also hunt (for food only, NOT SPORT). Anything mass produced in factories is not great for you for sure!
  22. Well, since doing some investigation etc, I am going to move in a different direction. I think I am going to take the usable parts from my XPS, use the Asus ProArt LGA-1200 board, install my 10700, ram, drives and add a second 2070 super. Then take whats left of the XPS and build a new system for my son for doing some video/photo work on for him. Kill two birds with one stone. I get the case, and system I need, and he gets a new decently powerful desktop for him to grow and create with. I think this would be the best way to move on this. We will see in the new year. My system right now is doing EVERYTHING I ask of it. So I don't need something new, but damn, that wooden front is awesome and I cannot move my entire system to the new chassis because of Dell.
  23. I am thinking about swapping to a new motherboard so I can run the fractal case. I have a 2070 super now and thinking if I connected a second one to it I would have decent bump in power for encoding etc. I am wondering if this would be the case?
