No, I think it was because someone started attacking and making fun of my son who has autism. You don't do that with me. I will fire back HARD! I am sure they would not do that to my face, I can guarantee you that one! I do like some apple things, others not so much. I am cool with google too. Apple's ipad opened up my son to so many things. So I cannot fault them. I don't like their silly marketing crap, and the fact they say stuff like removing the charging blocks is for the environment and make the cable included not able to use the blocks they said everyone had already. that was just one example of my distain for apple and their rhetoric.

The thing is, you can still install windows 11 no issue on "unsupported" hardware, you just have to accept that some security features will not be present. I have it running fine on my wifes dell which is not in the supported lane of devices. I just said yes I accept that not all security features will be present, but it's still the same security as Windows 10 and thats fine by us! You have to jump through 7 rings of hell to try to get MacOS on an unsupported mac. You need another mac to download the OS from etc.

I was recently shopping for a new mouse and keyboard to replace what I had which was the microsoft foldable mouse and stock dell keyboard. I was looking at mechanical keyboards from various different vendors and Logitech mouse. I stumbled upon the vital "mac" keyboard and 7 button mouse and The Source. The keyboard is not mechanical as I didn't like typing on it after years and years of using notebook keyboards, I have become accustomed to low travel keyboards. The keyboard is very well built and performs great. I can flow through writing assignments quickly and accurately which is great because time is money. The mouse, although its "cheap" it punches way above its weight and tracks accurately and is very comfortable and solid. I think I paid 39.99 for the keyboard and 29.99 for the mouse. This is in Canadian Dollars too. Budget friendly great quality products is what I am all about. These both have it. I will post some pictures after of both.

I have had my Nocuta paste on both my notebook, and workstation for about a year now, and it's been no difference in temps after the initial drop when I installed it first. I guess it's still in the full contact mode inside there...I have lots left so I will keep using it, if I have to repaste every year or so, so be it. Seems to be working great for me so far!

As it stands right now, my two systems chew through whatever I toss at them from the creative work side of things. I use resolve for my video work, and affinity for the graphics/photo side of things. I have everything setup and optimized for my hardware now and the workflow is really good. (more on that later when I get my office reconfigured to a more modern setup for my Desktop/workstation and then my writing setup). After Christmas I will have my Office setup completely and I will give a quick rundown of what I have setup, where and why. I have a few Youtube channels coming on line early in the new year as well. They will be interesting for sure!

I wouldn't because I am finally getting free of the walled garden for good. I am not a fan of the locked in apple way. I also don't like how MacOS is bassakwards to windows functionality just to be "different".

Yes, correct. You should see the m series fans out there boasting that their magical chipsets can do 8k rips faster than a fully built intel based pc with Invidia gpus etc. HA HA. it's laughable. My xps destroys the Mac studio in heavy lifting. The M series does get good battery life however.

Luke Miani and others have proven time and again, the older macs and macbooks can run current OS versions just fine, but Apple has a 5 year planned obsolescence program. After 5 years, your system will start to degrade at the OS level and lose services and options. IOS is different yes. But even then they are starting to reduce the amount of upgrades that the devices get. You will never see support like the iPhone 6s has gotten. I just go back to my two 2007 notebooks I have owned. My acer 7720 and my macbook white. My acer is on windows 10 22H2, and my macbook, before I sold it was a paperweight. Could not even get on the web anymore because both safari and chrome were not supported with the OS.

I have been working part time at Bell now for almost a year and there have been many many people come in with dead or severely damaged devices with alot of important data on them. We (at the store) do not have any means to retrieve this data. Is there some software or hardware that can be used to get this information off their phones and onto a USB drive so they have it in their possession? Someone locally has a cellebrite unit for sale. I have been trying to get information on this as it may be the thing I am looking for to help with data recovery. Does anyone know if this unit will do what I am looking for?

Best OS ever for a mobile device was windows mobile. The best phone I ever owned was my 1020. I miss it dearly, and I wish it could still be a viable option for me today.

I am on Bell Canada Fibe 1gb upload and download speeds. It's a great service. I was on rogers ignite and it was crap. I am only using bell's wireless system on our property with great success now. 4 extender pods give us reliable fast internet around our home and garages. Boring setup but it works.

I am all wireless besides the connection to my workstation, for right now. I have an old acer mini server that I am going to put 4 8tb drives in some sort of raid array to hold my work / personal documents on. That will also be plugged into my router. I am on bell's fibe network here and love the speed I get on the net both wired and wirelessly. I have 4 extender pods throughout my property now. I have one upstairs to feed my tv's and my wife's office (she works from home full time), I have one out in my son's "apartment" for when he comes to visit, I have one downstairs to feed our tv, music room and gym, and I have the forth out in my garage to provide internet out there and to feed the wired connection to my workshop 700 ft away from my house. We ran gel filled CAT cable down to the shop to provide wireless internet down there. I have had fully wired systems here but I just find them redundant now where everything is wireless and speeds are up to snuff with me. Maybe I will revisit wired connections soon as I have it ran most everywhere in the house.

I think it will grow over time as more people from the old place come to find this one like I did. It's great to be back to a normal place where people are not complete lunatics and have the same things in common. I have been using another forum for my pc/notebook info and it's been brutal. You ask for basic information about setting something up and they go into a rant about you need this this this this and this to do this one simple thing. I have never had that problem here. Straight shooters, and to the point. No BS! keep it up!

My wife and I are both on iPhone 13s. Her's is a 128gb model and mines a 256gb model. It will be our last apple products. I am getting bored with them, and their lack of anything customizable. I am moving to cheap android devices which still have memory card slots, can customize the look of your device with launchers etc, and you can have extra functionality with windows as well. After Christmas I am getting us 2 Moto G stylus 5g phones. That phone has pretty much everything we need and nothing we dont. Install Gcam for the camera app and the cameras come alive. they are ok stock, but using Gcam, The hardware is utilized much better.

I am almost sure that you can use the Dell as a mobile hotspot for your notebook. Edit: I just went in to settings and yes, there is a setting right in windows 11 for mobile hotspot, you should be good to go. Welcome to the "darkside" too. iPads are toys. If you want to get work done etc, you need a portable computer with windows.

It's time to break out the old iron and see what I can make out of it. It needs some work, but it will be worth it to keep this beastly classic running for another number of years. I will be putting in a new keyboard, the current one is shot. Adding 8gb of ram instead of 4, upgrading from the t7300 processor to the t9300 processor. I will also be putting in a 256gb Kingston ssd and removing the old OCZ 120gb drive and keeping the 750gb storage drive. I have already upgraded the Bluetooth card and it works as intended as well. After it's done, I am going to try Zorin OS on it to see what I can do with it!

Hey everybody, Just giving a run down on my XPS workstation for doing creative work. it's a Dell XPS 8940 with the 10700 i7. It originally came with 16 gb of ram, 512gb ssd for program/os drive and a 2 tb HDD for storage. It has a RTX 2070 super graphics card in (one of the main reasons I bought instead of built), and it's a nice looking compact system. It didn't take long for me to start upgrading to the system I needed compared to the system I bought. I quickly swapped out the cooler and fans for Noctua units for slient working. I repasted the CPU with noctua paste as well. I also added the VRM cooler heatsink that never came on my system as well. The machine runs much cooler now with all of the brown goodies inside. I re-routed some cable work as well. After, I started swapping other parts. First up was the storage. I swapped the 512gb drive with a 4tb Hynix SSD and swapped out the 2tb with an 8tb HDD for finished project storage. Next up was the ram. The 16gb was pulled in favor of 128gb of patriot ram. This makes the system much quicker doing photo, video and graphic work that I do now. I also added a firewire port in the rear for my old MiniDV camera as well. Overall, this system was bought, upgraded and used with budget in mind. I am currently swapping my office around and upgrading the space to make it more up to date for when I start doing some youtube work for different things. I want the space to look great and feel like a place I want to work it.

Hey everyone. 2 years ago, my husky stepped on my previous dell 2 in 1 5687 (i think) and broke the screen. I upgraded to the inspiron 14 5406 2 in 1 with the 1165G7 processor and irisXE graphics. It came with 12 gb of ram, and a 512gb SSD. Since moving on and getting some field work for photography and videography, I have upgraded my system to a 4tb Hynix SSD and 64gb of patriot ram. The screen, overall build quality and feel of this system is great. I repasted the cpu and gpu and that made a big difference in the cooling of the machine as well when encoding video. I am currently completing a setup where I have the same basic system as my desktop workstation in a portable package. I have a 2 SSD enclosure for scratch and project drives for resolve, a 2tb storage drive for finished projects, a second 14-inch portable monitor with touch for dual display work and more. Overall, this system has everything I need to get work done while mobile.
