  1. I am getting ready to max out my old acer (finally). I think it has the t7500 in it now. I am wondering will it run the 9900? I know one person here previously installed the t9500 cpu and it worked. Thoughts would be welcome.
  2. What do you do with your computers now? I batch process images, create logo, graphics, book layouts, magazine layouts website graphics, videos etc. I am still working on a television program as well. I am still conducting research on the topic I have in mind and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Very interesting. So, I use all that my PC's have to offer, For someone just surfing the net, and doing basic tasks....even 4gb is fine. That's what my wifes little dell has and it skips along no issues.
  3. Ok, I have seen on other forums where you can install unsupported OS versions. I was thinking about doing the upgrades to the system and selling it. It looks as if it's still a desirable machine out there. Maybe I will keep it and install the lastest unsupported version and go from there.
  4. I was a member for years on the previous forum, I went to search for the Aspire 7720 upgrade thread and stumbled upon a Reddit about NBR. That led me to here. Thankfully. I always loved coming to NBR and Shooting the turds with everyone.
  5. So, I have stumbled across a A1297 macbook 17" for 95 dollars semi locally. The owner says he purchased it with the intention of installing a new HD and battery. There is no charger with it. My son has a 2015 macbook air. Are the chargers the same for both macbooks so I can see if I can get the 17" to post? Also, where I have no install media for MacOS, can I create this somehow and will this old system be able to run newer OS versions some how? I am interested in this project since I have some spare parts hanging around.
  6. Well, in a little turn of events, I have an iphone 6s that one of the people I do snowmobile restorations for wants. I am going to even swap him for his moto G power 2021. At least then I can get a good feel for the moto side of things while not spending any extra money on. I will report back after the trade has been made and I have my sim card in it. One negative is the lack of NFC. I love paying with my phone and do it constantly.
  7. I would upgrade if you need to. If you see something that is maxing out etc, then by all means. If it's all working great, why waste the coin. Video editing and graphic creative work is why I bought and upgraded this little rig. I am running 2 24" dell ultra sharps off it with one being touch which I love for doing editing work with. I went with 128gb of ram because I was future proofing a bit, but the need is there when running Reslove and other intensive programs. On the total flipside, if you like tinkering and it brings you joy, like it does me, then GIVER on the mods. I still have to set up my system to save all my files etc to the big drive instead of my SSD. In the end, it's all about budget and need. If you have both or at least one and a half, go for the mods.
  8. We want an earthroamer. The big one. However, at a million and a half, unless we win 60 mil or more, it will be a hard nope. Ha ha. What will be incoming will be a 32 ft motorhome with slideouts and a ujoint Off road 4x4 conversion. Cheap (ish) and go where we want. Pop starlink mobile on the top and we are golden.
  9. With the basic copy you don't get the interchangeable styles like mac/os/windows etc correct? that's only on the pro level? I am thinking about trying the "lite" version to see how it reacts with the old hardware on my acer.
  10. Yes, the google phones are really nice now. I am working at bell part time right now for some extra income, and I have used most everything available. The moto lineup, for the money, can't be beat. The stylus 5g, 128gb, 6gb ram, 120hz screen, true 2 day battery, expandable storage, NFC, water resistance, stylus, add in the microsoft launcher for some visual customization and the openness of android...for 499.00 That's a great deal right there.
  11. Agreed 100%. I never took anything between us personally. I was having fun and I did learn alot. We will be fine here for sure!
  12. System 76. What awesome machines they build. I love the wood on the cases. Very organic and modern unlike most cases today. I just priced a MASSIVE. Ha ha. Maybe when I get more work on the creative side of things. 56k ha ha. I am giving zorin OS a try very soon on my old acer!
  13. Anybody have a way to remove the recommended section of the start menu all together?
  14. No, I do remember someone starting making fun of my son, I LOST IT. Called him/her everything under the sun in the off topic area. I am almost 100 percent sure of that. My family is freaking off limits on the net or real life. Anyone who knows me, mess with my family, my wife or my 2 sons, you will never be found... Anywhoo, thats in the past now....onward and upward...love the new digs here and am going to enjoy getting information here again!

  16. No, I think it was because someone started attacking and making fun of my son who has autism. You don't do that with me. I will fire back HARD! I am sure they would not do that to my face, I can guarantee you that one! I do like some apple things, others not so much. I am cool with google too. Apple's ipad opened up my son to so many things. So I cannot fault them. I don't like their silly marketing crap, and the fact they say stuff like removing the charging blocks is for the environment and make the cable included not able to use the blocks they said everyone had already. that was just one example of my distain for apple and their rhetoric.
  17. The thing is, you can still install windows 11 no issue on "unsupported" hardware, you just have to accept that some security features will not be present. I have it running fine on my wifes dell which is not in the supported lane of devices. I just said yes I accept that not all security features will be present, but it's still the same security as Windows 10 and thats fine by us! You have to jump through 7 rings of hell to try to get MacOS on an unsupported mac. You need another mac to download the OS from etc.
  18. I was recently shopping for a new mouse and keyboard to replace what I had which was the microsoft foldable mouse and stock dell keyboard. I was looking at mechanical keyboards from various different vendors and Logitech mouse. I stumbled upon the vital "mac" keyboard and 7 button mouse and The Source. The keyboard is not mechanical as I didn't like typing on it after years and years of using notebook keyboards, I have become accustomed to low travel keyboards. The keyboard is very well built and performs great. I can flow through writing assignments quickly and accurately which is great because time is money. The mouse, although its "cheap" it punches way above its weight and tracks accurately and is very comfortable and solid. I think I paid 39.99 for the keyboard and 29.99 for the mouse. This is in Canadian Dollars too. Budget friendly great quality products is what I am all about. These both have it. I will post some pictures after of both.
  19. I have had my Nocuta paste on both my notebook, and workstation for about a year now, and it's been no difference in temps after the initial drop when I installed it first. I guess it's still in the full contact mode inside there...I have lots left so I will keep using it, if I have to repaste every year or so, so be it. Seems to be working great for me so far!
  20. As it stands right now, my two systems chew through whatever I toss at them from the creative work side of things. I use resolve for my video work, and affinity for the graphics/photo side of things. I have everything setup and optimized for my hardware now and the workflow is really good. (more on that later when I get my office reconfigured to a more modern setup for my Desktop/workstation and then my writing setup). After Christmas I will have my Office setup completely and I will give a quick rundown of what I have setup, where and why. I have a few Youtube channels coming on line early in the new year as well. They will be interesting for sure!
  21. I wouldn't because I am finally getting free of the walled garden for good. I am not a fan of the locked in apple way. I also don't like how MacOS is bassakwards to windows functionality just to be "different".
  22. Yes, correct. You should see the m series fans out there boasting that their magical chipsets can do 8k rips faster than a fully built intel based pc with Invidia gpus etc. HA HA. it's laughable. My xps destroys the Mac studio in heavy lifting. The M series does get good battery life however.
  23. Apple could be great in the PC space if they allowed upgradability via user, and more than 5 years of OS updates. Luke Miani and others have proven time and again, the older macs and macbooks can run current OS versions just fine, but Apple has a 5 year planned obsolescence program. After 5 years, your system will start to degrade at the OS level and lose services and options. IOS is different yes. But even then they are starting to reduce the amount of upgrades that the devices get. You will never see support like the iPhone 6s has gotten. I just go back to my two 2007 notebooks I have owned. My acer 7720 and my macbook white. My acer is on windows 10 22H2, and my macbook, before I sold it was a paperweight. Could not even get on the web anymore because both safari and chrome were not supported with the OS.
