6900XT's were open to equal abuse as other cards for casual miners. Those who use them for personal use then set them to mine in the off hours especially when Eth and other cc's were very up. -

Yep, that's exactly what they're doing along with a flood of mining cards. I ask very specific questions and any GPU I would potentially buy has to have a warranty with it from the maker. I ended up just canceling a winning auction I won because I couldn't get clarity on the warranty status for a GPU. I'm not going to drop $500+ on a card that I'm pretty sure has been mined on more than indicated and not have some recourse 2-12 months from now when it goes belly up. The scams are pretty obvious when you get used to it. Some are just outright laughable. Yeah that price is finally trending down properly for what is probably the best made 6900 series card out there made. Good luck matching it to a motherboard design. Maybe an X570 or B550 Asrock Taichi Razer edition? One good thing is since it is "open box" it has a 30 day hassle free return policy for full refund or exchange if you don't like it. -

New listing on Newegg. "Open Box" ASROCK 6950xt.... ...."Limit 5 per customer" 😆 I can almost guarantee you these are new just marked down in Open Box fashion instead of outright lowering the price or putting them on sale. -

I've been keeping tabs on some 1tb nvme drives for my X170SM-G. I realize now playing FO76, WoW, D2, D3, DX and a few more, my days of efficiency can not be constrained to 512GB anymore. I upgraded my desktop finally to a 1TB 980 Pro and moved my old SN850 512GB into the wife's system to replace her SN750 512GB. eBay pricing is so perplexing. I've messaged many sellers telling them their used items are priced at or above new and/or make offers on some items and am told, "way too low," and when I point out new prices and how their prices are basically at new levels they just shrug......as those items have been sitting on eBay for weeks if not months now. -

It's getting closer and closer..... There was a +60 off code for that one too for a bit for $639.99. If only eBay sellers of 6900xt and 6950xt could accept reality and realize how much they are going new and adjust accordingly. -
Some of the utilities were free like Keyboard LED and ON/OFF fan max controls, but for the actual update utility for drivers and fan curve control you needed a license that was tied to the machine. I know the author abandoned it quite some time ago as people kept trying to circumvent the licensing and part of his code showed up in some sellers utilities or CC tools. He became rightfully disillusioned and moved onto another project.

Anybody have recommendations on a good, solid inexpensive block for AM4? I'm going to go WC on the CPU and GPU for this build. Work out the build kinks / curve and have fun with a different build in every aspect. -

I loved my Athlon and FX systems many years ago. I used them till they got outdated and switched back to Intel who had regained the lead. I've used numerous ATI GPUs in the past and used an AMD 5700xt for a solid year no problems. I just wanted to go 4k. Laptop wise I used a pair of AMD 3000 and 4000 series cards in my Alienware M17. I also used a 6970m in one of them too no problems. 5800x was a disaster because of the USB issues and AMD slowly pulling back on boosts with subsequent Ageisa releases due to a combination of really no headroom and chips dying is my guess. Even with subsequent releases for USB issues, it came down to the individual AIBs to find solutions. That MSI X570 Tomahawk still gives me flashbacks... I've had a few Nvidia cards die on me both mobile and desktop. AMD seems to finally have gotten a leg up on their drivers architecture so we will see. FSR is a reality, DX11 has been extensively repaired. I'd agree each has their pros and cons but when one or the other happens to have repeatedly Tybalted your Mercutio you in your situation, you tend to be wary.... 😄 I'll probably never use another MSI AMD based board ever again. -

I've set my price at $600 for a 6900xt (or a touch more for a top end specialized model). I'll slowly amass the pieces I want for my son in law's build. In the meantime he is renting a system from rent a center which I didn't even know rented PCs? I'll have to get over to their place and check it out and see exactly what they're offering up as a, "gaming" PC. -
When Linus thinks that HS is "beefy".....you know the laptop market has shifted irrevocably..... He does acknowledge that with Nvidia and all their mobile GPU specs that cooling matters and now as a consumer you need to be cognizant of the cooling too not just the model listed. He makes fun of a lot of things but how they Jay Cutler'd his mug on the back of the lid is hilarious.

LOL! There was no chance of me wanting to buy any of that stuff. I just wanted to see if the would sell out their allotted stock and they did so cards are moving. All that showed up was B-tier (or worse) cards for the shuffle no A-tier stuff (Strix, Master, FTW3, etc...). Look on the bright side. When your time window expired, they sent the offer to the next open slot on the list. 🙂 -

As a test, I queued up for what I deemed the worst card and the best card (6600 and 3080ti) just to see what would happen with no intentions of purchasing either. I predicted the 6600 was a shoo in but the 3080ti was the real test to see if they would move at that price. I figured they would sell out quickly. As predicted, I was "selected" for the 6600 but not the 3080ti which means they had more queue ups than cards for however many 3080ti's they were trying to move at $833 after shuffle "rebate." -

The only "decent" price in there is the Asus TUF 3080ti for $833.00 as it is well below MSRP ($1299 and even below $1199 FE pricing).... ....but seriously I saw it pop up in my email and I looked down at my date/time to make sure I hadn't time jumped to last year -

Newegg Shuffle has started! (LOL!) I'm sure many who enter will "win!" Basically if you win you get a code that gives you a bigger discount than listed.... (!) I'm sure Newegg is feeling the backlash after the crapton of combo deals they forced down buyers throats via the Shuffle for well over a year. Now given a choice people are looking elsewhere or sitting tight: -
Bought RTX 3080 Laptop GPU for my P775TM1-G.
electrosoft replied to srs2236's topic in Sager & Clevo
I ran a 9900ks in my P870TM1 and even early testing before getting in there and, "doing the work," didn't have it throttling down that bad. It erratically down clocks more and more consistently over the run. That's what drew my attention. 🙂 If it was just clocking up and down above let's say 3.5ghz to 4.8/5.0 I'd focus primarily on thermals. Having seen my fair share of VRM failures, VRMs tend to seesaw between peak and non-peak but usually don't seesaw while consistently down clocking to the point they ended. Testing even on a cheap mainboard with zero VRM heatsinks, when you put a high end CPU in there it will take on a certain cadence after they overheat but tend to not trend downward during that cadence. Are the VRMs not making contact at all? His clocks end up dipping sub 2ghz at the end. Maybe it's all of thee above. 🙂 -

As someone who blocks everything, a card with zero wb options is an instant no for you regardless of every other variable so it makes sense. -

Another reason I stick with EVGA when able.... The whole KPE 3090ti launch and markdown ($2499 -> $1999) less than a month in just didn't sit well with me. I get that tech as an enthusiast pursuit will always result in a net loss Y2Y but the timing and everything just rubbed me the wrong way on a personal level. I was mulling it over for a week or so and finally reached out to EVGA with the timing and mark down being so soon after launch and basically $500 is nothing to scoff at. Being in the tail end of the second wave also put my purchase date ~10+ days after the official launch and firmly within a month of the mark down. They got back to me earlier and after a little back and forth credited me back the difference of the old vs new price. They didn't have to but they did and without all the pomp and circumstance you sometimes get ("We're giving you this one time courtesy" , "We normally don't do this", "Feel lucky peon!") and that goes a long way with myself and how companies treat their customers on a micro level. Yeah the prices even had me looking around for a reason to pick up another high end card. I sold my 3070 when I moved the wife to my Strix 3080 so any purchase is going to be 3080ti/6900 levels or higher. We're really seeing the end of a cycle decline in prices that is super heightened because they were so grossly overpriced for so long. I try to view the markdowns compared to original intended MSRP and the newest round of markdowns have them at or below their original MSRP especially the 3090ti/3080ti. 3090ti FE original MSRP...........$1999.99 (giggle) 3090 FE original MSRP..............$1499.99** 3080ti FE original MSRP............$1199.99 3080 FE original MSRP..............$ 699.99** 3070ti FE original MSRP.............$ 599.99 3070 FE original MSRP...............$ 499.99 ** Original Ampere launch day prices. Tack on $100-300 for original AIB pricing for better tiered models. The biggest savings are clearly at the top. -

So true! They knew exactly who was buying a large portion of their cards. 🙂 A gamer wants one card on average maybe another one for an auxiliary rig. Miners? As many as they could get world wide in every country. Easy money sell pallets of GPUs directly to miners. I don't fault Nvidia and AIBs for maximizing profits but own it. -

Q2 had no choice but to be weaker. This time last year they couldn't keep up with demand even with cards grossly marked up. Hopefully 4000 series is held off a bit while the market continues to adjust downward so 4000 pricing reflects reality not the outlier bubble we experienced world wide. To get optimal pricing on 3000 series it is finding that tipping point where 3000 supply is right at the drying up spot and pricing has trended down as much as it will before it might go back up a bit and/or the card(s) you want are no longer available. I don't think we're quite there yet. Checking even Newegg, you will see many models of cards are gone/out of stock now across several AIBs so they are definitely moving especially higher tier models. For example, if you were holding out for certain Asus Strix models, they're gone. from the 3080 and 3090 models with only more expensive specialty models left. Gobs of TUFs though. ROG Strix 3090ti is in stock for $1500 but they took a step backwards with its PCB and it's basically the TUF PCB in there versus the superior 100% poscap design of the Strix 3080 and 3090. Same applies to Gigabyte. Their top end Master cards are gone now. All that's left are Eagles and Visions for 3080/3080ti. Gigabyte 3090 models? Master and Xtreme cards are still $2k+ The only sub $1k EVGA 3080 model on Newegg now is the 10gb model. All over 3080s are >$1k that are left. One model of FTW3 3090 left and those pesky FTW3 3090ti's but they're priced higher than direct from EVGA. I'll reiterate. If you have your eye on a particular model and it is one of the upper tier models, you might want to think about picking it up sooner than later if the price has come down. Of course if price is your sole objective and you want the cheapest whatever brand/model then hold on. There's still room for drops. 🙂 -

I think I said it before that out of all the companies during the GPU craze EVGA handled it the best IMHO but that doesn't mean perfect or close to it. I expect EVGA to operate like any other for profit company at its core. Mass selling to miners was a no brainer. People had delusions about how the queues were going to work and somehow override massive, large profitable sales of mass units in a single transaction or obligations to resellers? Sure... Queue members were low buyers on the totem pole but it still added some order to the chaos at that time. I have no problems with mining, miners or what they choose to do with their hardware. I have no problems with companies that day in and day out look to optimize and maximize their profits. That is their primary function and as long as you view them as such you make your buying decisions accordingly. EVGA just sold out of the FTW3 3090ti $1149 model. $1199.99 (which is their "best") is the last one in stock at that $1200 price point. I suspect when it sells out they will shift the formerly low end $1399.99 down to $1149 or $1099 to finish blowing them out and if needed shift the 3090ti AIO model down to $1299.99 soon. The stock on their top end models (3080 and up) is drying up at a decent rate. EDIT: 3090ti $1199 back up to $1399 to match the other one. -

Yep, that's basically what Steve said. Workforce contraction among tech companies is up across the board. Makes sense with plummeting sales and reality kicking back in.
