  1. Yeah I saw this earlier. GN did a full video and my 420 AIO falls right in that window. I'm getting ready to yank it from service anyhow to replace it with one of my EVGA 360 CLCs for aesthetics so I'll just send it in for a replacement vs doing the plate swap myself.
  2. As much as I've always loved (and still do) laptops, I have always run a desktop along side it. I want a killer rig to take on the road but I want an even MORE killer rig at home!
  3. While looking at some very tempting used GPUs, I was doing my due diligence on used GPUs and valid warranty transfers (not anecdotal "Well they fixed mine lolzzzz") by asking the companies and/or reading their warranty policies: Companies that don't: --------------------- XFX Zotac VisionTek Powercolor PNY Asrock Gigabyte Sapphire Nvidia AMD Companies that do: ------------------ EVGA MSI Asus Yikes..... That greatly chopped down my present and future list of companies I will buy used (or even new) GPUs from this point on...
  4. G1 topping out at 3500 reeks of the system board but that can be fleshed out with a better CPU with a known better IMC real quick. The variance on IMCs is pretty brutal. Two 12100f's I tested. One gave up the ghost at >3200 (which is what it is rated) and the other 3600. At these lower tier speeds overall, I would definitely opt for G1 when all is said and done.
  5. Awesome! As much as I love the X170KM-G, as soon as you put a good chip on a good desktop motherboard, you quickly realize its limitations no matter how good it is within the laptop realm.
  6. Not that Intel would go to the lengths of Linux , but open source is as brutal as it gets in people finding, reporting and even chastising you for crap or bugs in your software. I've worked in many small teams and the few I led I made it a policy for complete, open door sit downs where your code is completely open and subject to review with zero filters and eat your own chow methodology by other members and the weekly meetings would be just absolutely savage but bugs and issues tended to get flagged, documented and fixed much quicker. I was on the receiving end of a few beat downs too....it does light a fire under your keister! 🙂 Speaking of the A380, Newegg just charged my card on the back order from last week so it will be shipping today or tomorrow. Fun times. 🙂 I plan on pairing it with an Asrock B660M MicroATX w/ 12100f for fun times.
  7. Intel making earnest strides to work on the software side of their ARC GPUs after critical reviews of initial release:
  8. On desktop higher tier chips tend to have better IMCs for 11th and 12th gen so I was thinking a nice 12900k in there in G1 mode would stretch those modules to their limits in G1 mode if the system board is capable of handling it. On desktops for G1 12th gen, it is usually the CPU's IMC that gives up the ghost especially with dual ranked sticks. Running 2x16GB is usually off by a bin to a bin and a half vs single rank sticks. Some garbage early 12900k's couldn't even get pass 3733 on dual rank sticks. My 12900k is running 2x16GB dual rank sticks at 4133 on my Strix D4. It will boot 4200 but errors. I never did go back in and set G2 to see if it was the sticks. Awesome work bro! Keep it coming. 🙂
  9. Still not great and I am not a fan of noise normalized tests but at least in the normalized tests with gaming and even CB R20 it does well and finally knocks off the NH-D15. Definitely look forward to a final production unit for real world results and uncapped fans.
  10. @Mr. Fox Go back and use my Associate's code and save an extra $25! JL6DSXQIKJ0DVZP EVGA did away with the EVGA bucks program but the code will still give you 5% off. I've been mulling picking one up too. It is the superior board.
  11. I'm expecting a total driver crap show Brother @Papusan with the A380 as they work out the kinks. I want to see it in real time at the least cost possible! Something new to play (and curse at) with. 🙂
  12. This quote is incorrect: "As noted by ProHardver, with Alder Lake CPUs power uncapping beyond PL2 limit did not provide noticeable performance improvement, mainly because the CPU was not designed for such power. For Raptor Lake-S this concept will be expanded on supported platforms." Pushing past PL2 (~241w) definitely yields an equally scalable increase in performance on ADL. Hopefully refinements will allow RPL to handle those higher package pulls better though but the silicon is basically the same under the hood + more e-cores and cache so we will see.
  13. I was shocked he uploaded it. He was basically crapping all over overclocking saying it took no skill, was brain dead easy and pointless. Basically biting the hand that fed him. Essentially calling overclockers no-lifers and losers essentially and how it was a pointless pursuit along with a bunch of other vitriol. Even in that short while it was up, some jumped down his throat and I am sure he realized his ramblings, rants and BS had struck a nerve even inside his own, small echo chamber. He needs to stick with just doing hardware comparisons and experiments and testing. Once it is seeded and you watch it, you'll see quickly what I mean.
  14. I thought the EXACT same thing! "WTH? Good luck with a P55 based system sale for that!" 😆 I love that Gigabyte has consistently stuck to their black and orange themes. Looks to be in great shape! GLWS.
  15. I went ahead and ordered one of those Asrock A380's to play around with. $150 shipped. I'm curious to see how it stacks up, temps, OC potential and more. It will go into my "Pile 'O Projects" queue. I'm sure it is a more than capable 1080p card which is where it will be tested on my Dell 144hz 1080p 25" test bench display.
  16. True a nice collector's item. Performance it is basically a very slightly faster GTX 1650 / RX 6400. It is priced appropriately for what it brings to the table @ $139.99. I remember my first real GPU accelerator was Rendition's Verite V1000 since we were hardcore (understatement) into Quake back in the day. When 3DFX dropped their Voodoo2 I upgraded to that and gave my V1000 to my little bro. Those were the days! 🙂
  17. lol, might make for a fun little card for which to play around and see how Intel drivers progress because it still seems a hot mess. 3000 and 4000 series beware! 😁
