  1. CSoDimm 64 GB 418€ - thats the first time that the upgrade price from Dell from 16 to 64GB is not that much of an issue with 474€ - maybe a step in the right direction. We'll see how Dell behaves if the CSoDimm prices drop - SO-DIMM 64 GB is around 160€ and less.
  2. Problem now is, that its not good old SODIMM but CSoDIMM which is not as widely available. Potentially this will fit That would be roughly the same price as SODIMM - 200€ for 64GB.
  3. Dell Pro Max Plus is online in Australia: Dell Pro Max Plus 18 Inch Mobile Workstation Laptop | Dell Australia Now in germany as well: Dell Pro Max Plus 18 Zoll-Workstation – Leistung durch großes Display | Dell Deutschland
  4. Here is a french Dell link, which indicates 17th of July as start for the Dell Pro Max Plus.
  5. So, currently available SO-DIMM DDR5 modules won't work? I could not find CSoDimms online.
  6. Dell Pro Max 14 and 16 are online in Germany. Funny price tag: starting at 121000 € - display currently max 300 nits, hmm. Maybe I'll spend that for a Porsche instead? 😉
  7. It says QHD+ here. I'd expect that to be 2560x1600 not 2560x1440. But I found the other post with 1440p as well. Is there an official announcement page from dell?
  8. Thanks for the CMOS reset info - was worried as well if one had to unplug the CMOS battery for that by disassembling about everything in that laptop.
  9. Pulled the trigger on a 7680 - the sales discount was too good and the Dell Max Pro Plus too far away - expected in July vs next week for the 7680.
  10. As Dell is moving to USB-C power plugs, can one get adapters for the current 240W power supply from 7.4mm to USB-C? I have some of those power bricks in different locations, so I don't have to carry them all the time. Will they be waste when switching to the Dell Pro Max? I only found this, which states max 65W The original from Dell does not list Precisions so I guess they are limited to 65W as well.
  11. Yes, my plan before the Pro Max Plus 18 leak was to go with a Precision 7680. So, I guess I will go the patience way...
  12. I wanted to get a new laptop in February when Pro Support for my current 7740 ends. Ah, patience, hate it 😉
  13. Is there any upcoming tech event which Dell could wait for before anouncing the Dell Max Pro laptops?
  14. Just the V CPUs and display with 300 nits - not so interesting - more like Inspiron or Latitude, not Precision
  15. Trackpad looks nice and big and with a visible area, not hidden like in the current XPS lineups. Keyboard without the touchbar is also better than in the latest XPS laptops. Looks like way more than only USB-C ports, quite similar to my 7740 ports. Only thing I will miss is the power adapter port as it makes the power adapters useless, which I positioned at different spots at work and at home. Maybe some adapters available to make them USB-C plugs? Lets see how big or small the USB-C power adapter will be, when it supports 240W. So, all in all I am looking forward to those new laptops - just early enough to pause me pulling the trigger on a 7680 early next year.
  16. @Mambucho how satisfied are you with your 7680 when it comes to battery runtime and noise/fan activity during different load types?
  17. We are limited to business laptops with support contracts for quick inhouse repairs in case of HW problems in the company. I would like 17" with 16:10 display ratio. Leaned towards an XPS 17 but those are not available in Germany any more. XPS 16 is crap with that new keyboard with touchbar - so I hoped that 7680 might be the next best choice...
  18. I hardly found reviews on the 7680 and 7780. Some reports on high temperatures and short battery times. How satisfied are the owners of 7680 and 7780 here with thermals and battery time? PS: I am only interested in CPU, so I would go with iGPU or the smallest dGPU - in case that makes the difference when it comes to high thermals.
  19. I used Hyper-V on Windows 10 and was able to undervolt. I switched to Windows 11 about a year ago, so that might have changed. But Windows 10 versions from 2022 and older allowed undervolting with Hyper-V activated.
  20. In my experience its Windows 11 which blocks undervolting, not the BIOS of the 7740. With Windows 10 and Throttlestop or XTU I could undervolt, with Windows 11 I can't. Here are some hints to changed virtualization features of Windows 11 which disable undervolting: Undervolting with hypervisor / virtual machine for WSL2 - Microsoft Community
  21. The slow startups when a charger is plugged seems similar to the behavior I noticed when using a power adapter with less power then recommended. I tried using 90w and130w adapters with my previous 6xxx and the current 7xxx and IIRC they throttled down to 400 Mhz. Booting with a lower wattage adapter took "forever" when throttled that much. Maybe the new BIOS has a bug in determining the connected power adapter?
