    I am seeing a 64GB option for both 16 Max and 18 Max ($630).

I am sure you could replace modules yourself for way cheaper, if you just get a configuration with the SODIMM interposer.

Problem now is, that its not good old SODIMM but CSoDIMM which is not as widely available.

    Potentially this will fit

That would be roughly the same price as SODIMM - 200€ for 64GB.

  2. As Dell is moving to USB-C power plugs, can one get adapters for the current 240W power supply from 7.4mm to USB-C?

I have some of those power bricks in different locations, so I don't have to carry them all the time. Will they be waste when switching to the Dell Pro Max?

I only found this, which states max 65W

The original from Dell does not list Precisions so I guess they are limited to 65W as well.

  3. Trackpad looks nice and big and with a visible area, not hidden like in the current XPS lineups.

Keyboard without the touchbar is also better than in the latest XPS laptops.

Looks like way more than only USB-C ports, quite similar to my 7740 ports.

Only thing I will miss is the power adapter port as it makes the power adapters useless, which I positioned at different spots at work and at home. Maybe some adapters available to make them USB-C plugs?

Lets see how big or small the USB-C power adapter will be, when it supports 240W.

So, all in all I am looking forward to those new laptops - just early enough to pause me pulling the trigger on a 7680 early next year.

lol if you only care about CPU get a gaming laptop. …

We are limited to business laptops with support contracts for quick inhouse repairs in case of HW problems in the company.

I would like 17" with 16:10 display ratio. Leaned towards an XPS 17 but those are not available in Germany any more. XPS 16 is crap with that new keyboard with touchbar - so I hoped that 7680 might be the next best choice...

Hyper-V blocks undervolting on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.  I believe that it is enabled by default in Windows 11 but not in Windows 10.  You can disable it by either removing it from "Turn Windows features on or off" or by passing a BCD boot parameter, but then you forego some features that rely on it, like VBS and WSL2.

I used Hyper-V on Windows 10 and was able to undervolt. I switched to Windows 11 about a year ago, so that might have changed. But Windows 10 versions from 2022 and older allowed undervolting with Hyper-V activated.
