I was always of the opinion that I would want to water cool in a separate case to then bring the tubing into the primary case where the system is housed to keep the heat dump from the systems themselves. Though testing a scenario is way outside of my pocket books ability to facilitate lol

Its been maybe 10 years since I had last watercooled anything :|

Only Nvidia know the date. Different rumors pop up everyday ...

oh brother, just skimmed that article. only matches a 1060, not good. however thats not bad if its their first gpu, i expect big things from intel but to an extent. amd makes cpus also and is behind nvidia in the gfx line. i doubt intel will top nvidia but hey you never know.

Much to the irritation of enthusiasts the world over, what sells is what is cheap.

1060 is good enough for those popular esport titles for the most part, if they get the exposure through that vein then (assuming they have the ability to), can release higher performance parts for higher returns.

Assuming they can get their drivers in order of course.

Price will dictate its adoption, especially these days where GPU's are aplenty.

That is how my benching rig has been set up for several years. I use an external MO-RA 360 radiator. There are no radiators inside of the chassis on that system. The liquid stays cooler that way and I do not have to worry about internal case space restrictions.

So then, the heat dump does have some affect on the system? I assume it would be minimal but I know you guys sweat the details for benching (for reasons most implicitly understand, I think).

The temperature inside of the case on my work computer (Banshee) gets considerably warmer. It pulls cooler room air into the front 360 radiator and the 240 radiator in the top exhausts warmed air inside of the case out of the top. To what extent it affects performance I am not certain, but things are kind of cramped with two radiators, two pumps and a reservoir inside of the case. It's not a small case, but it is not as big as I would like it to be.

I have the same mindset that you do. I plan on water cooling the CPU of the P870, but my room is tiny and it gets very hot. I guess we will see how it goes in the future...

At some point, I would like to purchase my own home and I would love to re-purpose the heat dump from my PC's towards the home, an obvious one would be heating the house but maybe during the summer use it to supplement water heating.

We already pay for the energy, might as well make it stretch. Though to be perfectly honest, Im a cheapskate for the things I dont want to have to pay for, so that I can splurge where I want to. Most people are like that (I believe) but I may take it a degree further is all.

For example, I have been wanting to buy the Leopold FC980M for a few years now, but its 120 USD. I've also been keen on the Code v3 keyboard and the Pok3r for work due to their macro functions they retail I think for 185 and 150 respectively. I purchased neither until I came across them on ebay for 40 and 36 USD respectively.

Which reminds me, I have been debating opening a thread for mechanical keyboards. I am sure plenty of people here use them even if the main focus for the forum is for laptops :)

Yeah something similar to that :)

Regardless of if radiators are essentially housed elsewhere to avoid that heat dump, the components themselves, I would imagine, are still generating some heat that isnt captured by the water. This would make airflow to the components just the extra edge for additional cooling. Of course this is all in my head and have no empirical data to back it up.

Though again, way too rich for my pocket book

You can buy stands for the radiator and put it on top of your case. Or just buy an Mora as bro Fox talk about.

But you pay premium (sub 500$) for a system like this below. And I don't think you get the performance you hope for... https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/external-cooling-system/exos-2-5-ex2-1055-cooling-system-aluminum-no-nozzles-ex2-1055.html

There shouldn't be a big difference. I mean Linus Tech have tested with push and pull and all weird combos + throw in a lot things/clothes in the case and the temps was still almost the same.

The tubes is up. But I can't say I have the big trust in one of the two rotatable 90°compression fittings on the top radiator. One of them feels a lot more loose vs the other when I touch it. We'll see how it goes. I need to follow that one the first days. But 3,hours run on the pump and no leak so far. So God night. 9:04 AM here so I need to find the bed, HaHa

I've been testing it and it is on par with my old 6gb 1060. It is firmly between a 1650 and 1650 Super. It is a good ENTRY level card for $140 which is exactly where it is targeted. Chop off another $20 and it becomes even moreso.

It's not a magic card nor supposed to come in with crazy performance at its price point.

What it does have is some seriously buggy drivers that need refinement (but continue to get them).

And as @receiver said, price will dictate adoption. It is firmly priced in the entry level segment. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Clearly someone is buying them as Newegg has sold out of them 3x already and they're in back order status again.

this! i for one absolutely 101% WANT intel to succeed in such a way that it makes sense for them to continue pursuing and producing / developing dedicated gpus. @Papusan pushing them too low & making fun of them just because they dont beat 30 series / RDNA2 with respective literal DECADES of development and skill/experience building with their first real gen of gpus aint gonna help anyone, rather push intel out for good and leave the market wide open for a continued duopoly. remember, more competition is always better for us, so cheer intel on to be successful in the entry and lower mainstream market! that we as enthusiast freaks will just go for whatever is best is a given, it wont harm us in any way 😉

Looking good, Brother @Papusan.

Yes, I remember that Zallman Reserator. I used to really want one. They were always terribly overpriced. May as well go with an aquarium chiller instead and have a lot more flexibility. But, they it was a prety interesting product.

On the topic of massive cases, I sure do love how this one looks in addition to its hugeness. Awesome and gorgeous. But, the price is absurd. It is too bad they don't make one similar to the size and layout of my Level 20 XT, but with the aesthetic of the HAF 700 EVO. I still much prefer a horizontal motherboard installation over vertical. It just makes more sense to me, and it's much easier to service.

I guess case makers dont like the side window fans anymore.

One of the first mods I did was add 2x 120mm fan placements to my Antec 902, its also where I learned that more air in doesnt mean cooler temps. Reversed the fans and watched my temps drop quite a bit for the 4890 XFire I had at the time.

I think it just lost popularity. I had a couple of cases with side door mounted fans and it had pros and cons. Most of the side panels now are tempered glass and back in the day of the side window-mounted fans the window panels were acrylic or plexiglass. They looked good for a couple of days, or until the first time you cleaned the dust off of them and they were scratched for life. If never mattered how gentle I was, they always ended up scratched and dull. Plexiglass polish sometimes helped, but could also make it clouded or hazy looking.

Yeah, I just missed more I suppose on my TU150 case as I bought it thinking it had the door but by the time I made the trip to MicroCenter saw they only had the version with the glass. I dont have the vanity to need to see my components when I am running my PC. Would've liked to have the vent instead.

Of course now I have gone full open bench-esque builds for everything so I guess I am being a bit hypocritical here lol

You can buy stands for the radiator and put it on top of your case. Or just buy an Mora as bro Fox talk about.

But you pay premium (sub 500$) for a system like this below. And I don't think you get the performance you hope for... https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/external-cooling-system/exos-2-5-ex2-1055-cooling-system-aluminum-no-nozzles-ex2-1055.html

Edit. Maybe some of you remember this one? Zalmam Reserator… 20 years old (nor used) and on sale on the Norwegian used market https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=261502425&alertType=ss&finnMail=agent&stored-id=57532357

Guru3d had a review of it. Enjoy older times folks. LianLi with the Reserator 1

And no bling bling. All black 🙂

Looking good! Since you've used the AC LF II 420 extensively, I'm interested in the differences in a decent P/P dual Rad CL comparison against all your previous test data (aka the good stuff 🙂 ).

Thanks bro Fox and @electrosoft

In the older days I was near to buy it myself. But prefered custom water cooling and Phase change. But still a innovation in the older days. A lot better option than old days air coolers.

Yep, bigger the better. Maybe I didn't see or hear it... I miss info about what thicness radiators you can use in the chassi (alone or in combo with severals). See it this way. A single 60 mm thick 480 rad have almost same cooling area as two thinner 30mm 480's. And if you go for thicker rads you need fans in push and pull for all (thicker radiators with only puhs or pull will perform worse than an equal thinner model). And this takes a lot space in the chassis as well🙂 There is nothing about it on Coolermasters webpage https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/full-tower/haf-700-evo/#specifications

This is a major problems when we talk about reviews/reviewers. They need to go more into the deep of the products.

Looks nice, Brother @johnksss. What caused you to decide to build that using the Unify-X mobo?

Hey guys, check out my first review on ExtremeHW and comment when you have time. I am expecting another one soon, so I will post the link here after I receive the product and complete the review.

Thanks.

It was the board I had on hand for my AMD/5950X. I decided to keep it and just upgrade ram to 32GB/new case and new easy to use fans for my server. As my server has been running a 7700K/Z170 for many many years now.

I'm not real happy with that MSI water cooler though so I may swap that out for a different one soon.

Looking good bro Johnkss. Guru3D have just posted review of the 011 Dynamic Evo on main page....

Review: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo chassis

By Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 09/02/2022 11:08 AM
Review: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo chassis

We’re checking out the Lian Li O11 DYNAMIC EVO, a successor of the O11 Dynamic chassis, which we reviewed four years ago. The Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO appears to have changed very little from the original. You can now install a 280mm radiator in the side location, and there are mounts for eleven (but nine are provided in the bundle) storage drives rather than six.

Read the review here.
