i can see our townsquare thread exploded in my absence, good job guys!

enjoying Hyperion whenever i find 5 minutes or so for tinkering / media / gaming. just recently expanded my SSD storage to 24 TB total (for redundancy purposes, thought its finally time to get some backup action going).

also currently parting out and selling off my beloved P751DM Dark Knight on ebay, damn that took me a while to finally get around to it...

next purchase is likely a 2x24GB DDR5-8200 kit, my current 6600 kit has a defective RGB strip on one of the sticks. the new kit would help me avoid any downtime during the warranty process (perfect excuse to upgrade lulz). DDR5 prices have been decreasing incsaaaaanely ever since i got the 6600 kit, crazy stuff!

cheers!

Missed you little brother/daddy. Thanks for stopping in to let us know that you're still kicking it. Hope all is well with fam.

How Did Nvidia Do This? GeForce RTX 4060 Ti vs. RTX 3060 Ti

What We Learned

Those comparison graphs vividly illustrate just how incredibly disappointing the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is. This generation has turned out to be a shocker, especially considering the initial promise shown by the RTX 4090. Imagine if we had suggested back in October last year, after reviewing the RTX 4090, that the 4060 Ti would cost as much as the 3060 Ti, but end up slower in a number of games. You'd have thought it a joke. Yet here we are: it is, on average, only 5% faster across 50 games. Despite the stark reality, it feels like there must be some mistake. However, this is the reality for gamers, and we don't foresee any meaningful changes soon.

3# in a row.... How many 4090 graphics cards need to be replaced with 3 burning dow each day in a whol year bro @ryan🤑 Then do the math... Most affected is the Strix cards so around 2000$ for each card😁

Fool me once, shame on you.............. After being tricked once, one should learn from one's mistakes and avoid being tricked in the same way again.

Is this the worst from both worlds? CM adaper paired with the nvidia pigtail connected to your PSUs 8-pin connectors. What an awful cable combo.

Edit. Here is the 4th. Also he never learned.....

Are you parting it out piece by piece or are you just selling the CPU, GPU, and then the laptop as a barebones? If you're selling the laptop as a barebones chassis, I may be a bit interested.

From the article.... You forgot the most important part.... Take all of this, and especially that nugget on pricing, with a whole heap of salt.

When you waste your time on nothing. But you get your salary. Probably that's what count for AMDs driver team. I wonder how they was able to measure lower power consumption.

AMD Adrenalin 23.7.1: Driver to reduce desktop power consumption on RX 7000

AMD ADRENALINE 23.7.1 UPDATES Driver to reduce desktop power consumption on RX 7000

Update 07/10/2023

ComputerBase measured Adrenalin 23.7.1 on a Radeon RX 7900 XTX and did not notice any changes in power consumption behavior on the Windows desktop at 144 Hz in Ultra HD. With the new driver, the graphics card needs just as much energy in every application scenario as with older drivers.

normal people would care, these people are extremely greedy and don't care about companies like intel/amd/nvidia. They have always been greedy and have been taken to court numerous times for running a monopoly.

I guess only they know. But my gut says there is a chance they will do it, and even having a chance is very bad news

From what I've heard, it's more business oriented than consumer oriented. The goal is to provide businesses with desktop environments they can deploy and access anywhere.

From a business perspective, it makes sense to have multiple cloud based desktops per employee in addition to a traditional desktop depending on what they're doing, but it doesn't make sense for consumers. I don't doubt Microsoft would try to do the same crap with consumers, although I think it would get a lot of pushback from consumers, much more than usual. I don't personally know anyone who wants cloud based access to their personal stuff. Even my tech illiterate friends hate the idea. They want their stuff on hand too! I hope that reflects the mindset of the majority of consumers, or we're screwed (in the context of Windows that is).

This is just one retarded CEO's dystopian vision with the company ruling the world (AI replacing people, the cloud replacing traditional computers etc.), and it will fail, unless people continue to behave like the funny sounding fluffy animals and still use their products despite knowing what they are up to.

getting 64gb of ddr4 ram in a few days. was free had a e coupon from bestbuy, I hope it helps with the memory leaks on grid legends, Im thinking ram leaks or it needs more than 16gb at 4k and for sure needs more than 6gb vram

funny thing is I remember telling a guy on NBR that games will require more than 8gb vram at 4k in a year or two, and he argued against. my point was the consoles are 16gb and all we get are ports hence needing 16gb for future games. now that I have a 6gb card I really feel it, I can run ultra textures if I dont mind 30-40fps but forget 4k/60 with textures above medium. and medium isnt pretty.

I can't remember who has 64gb ram on their system but do you guys notice a difference in anything? ill be using it for gaming and audio creation.

Overkill for gaming, and there is a risk of the higher capacity modules being slower than 32 GB kit. Only upgrade above 32GB if you see your system running out of RAM.

I generally do not do anything that consumes 64GB of memory, and unless you exhaust the available physical memory, or approach that threshold, I do not believe it will measurably affect the computing experience. If you are doing things that consume all of your available memory and become dependent on a swap file, that is going to noticeably degrade performance. I am all for the idea of having a lot more than what is needed. Always better to have excess than not enough.

That said, if the amount of RAM or the DIMM configuration impairs my memory overclocking, then I am not OK with it. So, I would not be OK with installing 64GB of RAM unless it overclocked equal to or better than 32GB or 48GB. But, that is because my main interest is overclocking. If my primary interest or business needs were content creation or something like that, I would likely feel differently about everything else being secondary to overclocking.

im using 16gb of ram in game so I thought if I get 32gb it might use 24gb and ill need at least 10 for windows so 64gb is the obvious answer, not alot of people game at 4k, and what I notice is it uses quite a bit of vram with textures set to high or ultra, medium is fine. but to get any sort of eye candy 16gb system ram coupled with 6gb vram just isn't enough. and overkill might be a good thing kinda like having extra money

posted at the same time as you 😛

I'm using alot of ram, I can't seem to shake the hackers. they do weird stuff like change my languages to spanish. really annoying. but yeah 64gb is 3200mhz ddr4 the timing are a bit looser at 22 and something but overall performance should be close to 16 or 32gb. I'd like to add often times I have youtube running in the background for music while gaming and that doesn't use a great deal of ram but it would be nice to do everything without closing stuff and still have 16gb free.

If you guys game at 4k let me know I think you guys typically game at 1440p I could do the same but I invested in a 4k tv for gaming, hopefully it is overkill as you guys claim.

just did a quick check and tried to show you guys what I'm saying but overlay isn't showing in the pictures.

bascially im using more than 16gb ram just for crysis it said 14487 or something and I know it must be using the page file because of the eventual crash, now if I had 64gb ram im sure instead of the memoryebing dumped on the page file and instead the ram It would stutter but not as bad. kinda like going tfrom 8gb single channel to 16gb dual channel. Or I have no clue lol

Are you parting it out piece by piece or are you just selling the CPU, GPU, and then the laptop as a barebones? If you're selling the laptop as a barebones chassis, I may be a bit interested.

the former, and unfortunately the barebone was the very first thing that was snatched up! makes sense, since it had a one of a kind PremaMod installed on it 😉 (no worries, got permission from the unicorn master to be able and sell it with the machine).

We are moving to a feature "you own nothing"...... The future looks damn dark bro @Ashtrix @Mr. Fox ++++. Maybe you in the future only own yourself. And nothing more. Please see the whole video. Thanks.

In short... You only hire the games. You don't own them. So why does some of the gamers say they own this and this game? Are they damn stupid? They own nothing bro @Mr. Fox Only the air they breathe in.

Steam forcing updates to Win 10/11 to play games - do you actually "own" games bought through Steam?

I went ahead and bought a 6950 XT today, and it arrives on Friday. I'll finally be able to complete my desktop after a year and 2 months of waiting for prices to fall back to sane levels!

That being said, I'm still not happy with the price I had to pay, but they weren't going to go any lower for this card as almost all high end RX 6000 series cards are sold though. The used market doesn't offer any better prices since they're the same or higher than buying new at retail. Like what? Better just buy new then.

Zip didn't want to let me use the ZIPTECH code for an additional discount on the card. They kept saying I was ineligible, and made me pay full price. I guess that's the one downside to not having a credit history, but ah well. I make it a point to never use credit cards or take loans. My philosophy is, if you didn't have the money, you shouldn't have bought the item in the first place. Obviously loans may be unavoidable on stuff like houses or cars, but it's definitely avoidable on everything else.

On the bright side, I get my ASrock Phantom Gaming 6950 XT on Friday!!!!

Not about computers. Halfway. But Ivan The terrible. Now its soon 1 year since he died an all too early death. The best, kindest and smartest dog I ever have had. And I have had a lot of them. The video is done by my oldest son from the winter time in the cold North. Forgot this one. I still miss him. And he will stay in my heart forever. Pc's and my dogs are my main hobby. They go hand in hand. Can't live without it 🙂

I have only his little friend The Little Thief now. Not as smart but a good dog. A damn good guard dog. No one should come in front of him and try reach the doors. He don't give up if someone try go into Papusans house. Small but damn he can be angry, LOOL

Yep. I don't recommend any custom 12VHPWR adapters. Regardless if you bought an overpriced castrated 4060 or the overpriced 4090.

Why should I advocate for fire adapters? I hate seeing people screwed. And I'm sure bro @electrosoft value my honesty 🙂

Congrats on the pick up and that is the best price out there for all 6950XT cards and matches the pricing on the Red Devil 6950XT but that's out of stock (I would have picked up the Asrock anyhow). Toss in a free $100 game code and that's win win all around.

After hemming and hawing and going through so many pricing scenarios, I ended up picking up a Powercolor Fighter 6700XT from Amazon for Prime Day. They are offering 7% back on the Prime Visa card for slow shipping so it won't ship out and be delivered till next week but that gives me time to check on other deals and cancel if needed so after tax and 7% back my total cost was ~$298. Toss in a $100 game code (~$107 after tax) and my net cost for the card is ~$191.

I spend a lot of time doing performance comparisons with everything from the 6600 up to the 6800xt/4060ti and the 6700xt at that price point made the most sense especially with the 6700xt including the Premium edition of Starfield. That basically knocked every Nvidia potential out of running even moreso than before.

I was going to pick up an MSI 6750xt but it was ~$45 more when everything was said and done for basically the same performance. I'll still keep an eye on them just in case.
