While I agree, I'd probably spend $400, $500 or $600 on one of those crappy GeFarts turd GPUs before I would spend a similar amount on a Radeon card. I am not saying that to be offensive to anyone that likes them. I just don't really like the brand. Too many compromises. But, that doesn't mean I think the 4060, 4060 Ti or 4070 GPUs are any good either. Lesser of two evils. At the end of the day, we are in a scenario of being flooded with garbage and having somewhere between zero and one or two good options available to choose from

In short.... Don't buy it. Buy a console instead for wasting money on this.... Doesn't matter if its the castrated mid-range 4000 series nvidia card or the AMD junk.

Generally speaking, RTX 4060 Ti at $400 is fairly expensive. This high GPU pricing will drive more gamers away from the PC platform, to the various game consoles that are similarly priced and will give you a perfectly crafted first-class experience that works on your 4K TV, without any issues like shader compilation, stuttering and other QA troubles.

Off topic. Mrs. Fox and I have our tenth grandchild (sixth grandson), born this afternoon. I think Brother @Papusanis going to like the Viking names. Magnus Olave Fox. Weighing 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 in tall. I had to Google the names to get the meaning for Magnus and Olave.

Well, 87.1 ns is the crap you can expect from using an XMP profile, so I guess we know where his weakness is when it comes to tuning.

Thanks. So, now we have grandsons that are named Magnus, Sigurd and Bjorn. That means they can't stop until they give us an Ivar, Hvitserk and Ubbe. (I'm not sure those last two names aren't too weird for the 21st Century. But, maybe they aren't strange in another part of the world. Not sure.)

@jaybee83 have you encountered any of the issues he is flipping out about? I did see in the comments someone recommended disabling TB/USB4.

It worked completely fine so it has to be good... Maybe the blue color was the reason for the slow melt? What color on the adapter will reduce the chance for melt and fire? The red or the blue pill adapter?😀 What color is it on your adapter @electrosoft Maybe take the chance if the adapter is Red?😁 Even the shipping carton CM use is of bad quality.

Hybrid processors/phone processors is damn idiotic for desktops. AMD will also jump on this stupid tech. This won't be the last time we see baby cores destroy or mess up the performance. Do you like the idea with more and more E-cores bro @Mr. Fox?🤔 But the fllod of baby cores make the processors cheaper (smaller die reduce costs). Or put it the other way... Maybe increase profits.

Picked up the 5800x3D today since the price dropped to 270 on Amazon. I figure if I sell the 2700x for 50-60 the performance/dollar uplift comes close to when I bought the 2700x at iirc 160.

I plan to review it against my 2700x and 10850k platform coupled with the 3090 mostly for gaming.

The weather in northern part of Norway has been very good this summer. But down south where most of the people live has been worse than normal. Have been in NordKap many years ago. More like 40 years ago. Experienced fantastic weather seeing the sun never going down.

That will be a super nice upgrade to the 2700X. The 10850K should outperform it having more cores/threads, higher stock turbo clock and great overclocking capabilities, but it would be interesting to see your comparison.

Sorry if I wasn't clear by what I said. I never mentioned gaming. "Outperform" doesn't mean "gaming" to me. "Gaming" means gaming, and it's something I seldom do. Overclocked CPU benching and CPU-intensive tasks, where core count and clock speed does matter,  is what I meant about outperforming. And, you are correct that the benefit of more cache when more cache is helpful is brand agnostic. Because I am not a "gamer" per se, I generally do not think in terms of the effect on PC gaming. Even so, what matters to me most generally (except for the above) benefits gaming as well despite the fact that it probably wasn't contemplated in my thought process.

I picked up the EK-Nucleus 360 during the Newegg sale to test for myself, as it appears on top of the charts in most AIO reviews. Hopefully EK improved on its fan durability.

I plan on using it during test builds and when they are complete, move to either an air cooler or custom loop. I eagerly await your review. I am going to test it first with AMD.

Here it is, bro. 👍

Yeah it will mostly for some titles but the 16GB is kind of limiting for a daily driver and the Asus board really doesn't like the ram I originally bought (gskill 3200mhz, 32GB) for am4. I plan to make it my dedicated benching system so that if things aren't working out I don't have to retune, reinstall GPU's just to be able to game or chat with some buds. Some games don't like running on ddr4 4400mhz either, so it's better apt for benching than the turn key 5800x3d which is only intended for gaming, web surfing efc etc

That is a pretty massive upgrade vs the 2700x. 5800X3D will win almost across the board in gaming most likely and will compete in pockets against the 10850k but the 10850k will reign overall outside of gaming. Looking forward to your write up.

Nice write up. The EKN AIO looks to be pretty solid so far. I'll have to see how it stacks up against other AIOs.

The weather in northern part of Norway has been very good this summer. But down south where most of the people live has been worse than normal. Have been in NordKap many years ago. More like 40 years ago. Experienced fantastic weather seeing the sun never going down.

Yeah crazy they are walking around there in their shorts, its hotter there then it is here in Germany. They are planning to ride down again but through Finland and the Baltic States, so i think they will be ok, Finland weather should be more pleasant.

How smart.... A recall would destroy profits and reputation @Rage Set Better send out an email with coupon code so you can get vr.1.1 for free. Cheaper as well.

What's the difference between stop sell it for now vs recall? @ryan Do your math and you can clearly see whats going on in Papusan's head🙂

Is there any official Recall statement or something like it from Cablemod about 90-180 deg. adapters?

Maybe every company out there should do the same so they don't destroy own reputation? Aka being slammed by media. Etc Dell sneak in unwanted firmware so their crapware perform worse. What a dishonest business.

What a Joke....  We are rewarding all early adopters who purchased a V1 Angled Adapter.

Why not offer badges as well ? As etc with the text....I have been screwed by CableMod....

Or "I was the lucky one"... No melting.

Even so, what matters to me most generally (except for the above) benefits gaming as well despite the fact that it probably wasn't contemplated in my thought process.

haha my bad actually, i shouldve figured in your case! 😃

It's all good brother @jaybee83. Kind of funny really when you think about it because I have played games more on the 3060 TI and the 6900XT that replaced it than I have with my incredibly more expensive, powerful and capable 4090. Couldn't tell you why since the systems are within an arm's length of one another. When I'm using the benching rig it's generally at a time that my focus is on benching, but otherwise I have no explanation for why it has worked out that way. Just random. But what it does show is how capable at gaming both of the inferior GPUs actually are. I wouldn't have gamed on them if they did not perform admirably.

id wager ur thinking could be along the lines of: meh, for "mere gaming" those lower perf gpus are sufficient, cant waste precious gpu cycles of my 4090 monster on that, gotta keep benching! 😁

What led me to overclocking originally was better performance in gaming. Though the one exception was the hd 4890, I was bummed when I couldn't maintain 1Ghz. Early days. It's also what had me turning up my nose when gtx 470 VS 570 was a hot topic. 470 was a dark horse back then.

ill take that bet! when it comes to games, more cache beats more cores / higher clocks, same goes for intel cpus actually:

Yeah gaming is mostly why I picked up this chip. I've been keen on it since Broadwell, it's not universally better but as a turn key product it should fair well in single threaded titles.

Last weekend I watched control basically max 1 core with maybe 10-15 percent spread amongst the rest

When I originally bought my mobo and cpu it was with this planned upgrade. Not this chip but w/e the end game chip looked like for this socket. @Mr. Foxkind of derailed that with the bundle he sold me but I still held on to my original daily driver for this purpose.

Tried going the b350 route originally but the sata ports were damaged, basically had to treat myself to x570 to drive back into Dallas and swap the board out.

Guess it's time to get a list of games / benchmarks ready for this weekend.

Here's an new desktop. Will be used as backup or and an extra server. Got it for free so it will have a nice life in Papusan's plaza. I expect the cooling is on par with last gen Alienware Aurora desktop. This one have almost exactly the same air cooler as Dell used for their gaming flagship, HaHa

Here's Dell's gaming flagship with it's fantastic aiir cooler... The only difference between the Lenovo is the Cpu fan flip over on the opposite side😁

Even Dell Alienwares brand new 2023 model have same cooler, LOOL

Here’s what the default air cooling will look like.

As you can see, Dell innovate as usual. And the chassis is the same old they have used the last decade. Only changed  some of the plastic details on the outside. I didn't know Dell was so funny.
