That white motherboard looks so familiar 🧐 lol

If they had a 2-DIMM version I would consider grabbing one for testing, but the thought of flushing money down the toilet on a 4-DIMM DDR5 motherboard that is going to suck at memory overclocking makes me want to puke my guts out. It also seems to be missing some essential features like power and reset buttons, and no POST code LCD. I'm going to take a wild guess that it's also missing a dual BIOS feature. That's how they get away with raping us on the price of enthusiast motherboards. They charge several hundred dollars more for features that probably adds $20-$30 to the cost of manufacturing.

Sorry about the multi-posting. There doesn't seem to be a way to correct this using a phone OS. The cut/paste functionality is too limited. Can't select and cut a post quote to paste it into a prior post like you can on a PC. I'll try to remember to clean it up later when I'm back at my computer.

I have heard they are gonna run +300Mhz better than an average 13900K and that’s before delidding. So, almost everyone of these is probably gonna knock back 5.9Ghz on a cheap 360MM AIO. Once you delid, and throw it on custom water we’re talking fast speeds for any of them. Then we’ll have better E-Cores, and a better IMC, better ring.

I think (6.1Ghz-6.3Ghz) all cores on an average sample can be expected with direct die and custom loop.

Yup. I don't jump on 13900KS after giving my MB and 13900K to my oldest son. I'll jump right on 14900K once they are released here home. And I'll need a new motherboard. Hope the so called #refreshed# boards is ready before 14th gen launch here home. The faster I get the parts, the faster my son can start upgrade his machine, so it won't be the 14900KS🙂 One thing for sure. The 13900K I have won't be an bottleneck for his 2080Ti.

Nope. Not me. Unless it turns out to be significantly improved it is too expensive for what seems like an extremely modest bump in clocks. Seems like a poor value for anyone that owns a decently binned 13900KS. If you draw a short straw in the lottery, it might not be as good.

I ordered this instead. Coming from Germany. Got it from P5ych0 at HWBOT. 550€

Looks like a nice CPU. I really like the KS it was such a massive jump over the standard K which is crazy for being the same generation and from the same slabs of silicon. Intel screened these really well, because any KS is really good. Now, this has me wondering what 1 whole year later gets us? KS was so much better than K, then 14th gen must be like a KS-X.

I just want something like that 1st SP117 Global 13900KS I tested. It was just ridiculous. I loved it. If the 14900K brings us that, 😁 I’m all for it.

I just know, I’m not binning any 14th gen at all. I’m gonna order (1), delid it, and be happy that it’s better than what I had already. I have an SP104 global KS, so the bar ain’t very high 😂

Unless something changes, I will just skip it or wait until 14900KS comes and goes, then buy a nicely binned sample from someone selling to pay for the next thing. Overclocking is still super important to me and 90% of why I enjoy computers, but I am done chasing numbers on HWBOT where all of the winners are pre-selected and rigged, the chosen ones are gifted cherry-picked hardware and provided firmware nobody else has access to. I've lost most of the respect I used to have for the people and companies involved. They're partly responsible for the death of the sport, too. There are too many people that feel the same way I do, and are sick and tired of getting screwed over.

I used a blow dryer and they got burning hot really quickly. And then I just slowly peeled the cheap covers and light bars away from the memory sticks. Then I poured alcohol on a dinner plate, laid the memory flat on the plate then I swap sticks between soak/scrub/soak, then scraped off that sticky tape stuff with a plastic scraper/finger nail and / dawn dish soap. It was all pretty quick, and was not bad at all. It took me an hour to fully prep the sticks. Mine were 100% spotless clean too.

I had seen lots of posts and examples of how PTM7950 improved thermals on turdbooks that are otherwise untamable. I got some on Amazon for my Precision and I have to tell you that it's 100% true. It dropped my maximum core temps under load by approximately 15°C. I'm not kidding. @ryan

I was seeing 95-100°C CPU package temps playing BFV with KPx and now see only about 80°C running an AIDA64 or OCCT stress test. Putting it in the freezer for a half hour prior to installation makes it easier to apply without destroying it.

This is very similar to the improvement seen for a desktop CPU delid. I'm very impressed and pleased with the result.

I put it on the Quadro P5000 as well. It was not overheating before and didn't really need any help with thermals but it also dropped the GPU core temps about 5°C.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BRJB8JNX?psc=1

I'm thinking about using this to see if it helps with the ludicrous hotspot temps on the 6900 XT.

I might even try it just for giggles on the bare die application on one of my desktops to see how it compares to liquid metal in that scenario. Given the fact that laptops are a bare die application it might perform surprisingly well.

Hmmmm, I might have to pick some up. I've again had my collection of laptops grow along with other older laptop cooling projects too. The only downside is the greatest of thermal transfer compounds can't outpace an anemic heatsink design.

I've been preaching PTM 7950 for quite some time. The stuff is nothing short of incredible compared to traditional pastes, and best of all, no pump out. I have both the pad/sheet form and paste 7958.

The sheet/pad will not work on a desktop CPU IHS, it will never melt from my experience. The paste though, that stuff is awesome and works like it should. It won't match a delidded LM setup, but it will get great temps and keep a warranty intact with none of the risk.

Since I have plenty of leftover sheet I am going to put it to the test. Both of my bare die setups the water block sits directly on the die so no IHS. You're right about the IHS though. The Coollaboratory liquid metal sheets won't melt correctly for me on a CPU IHS. I saw where Igor got it to work, but I tried and I could never get it to melt 100% on top of the IHS, and the temperatures were horrible. I did get the Indigo Extreme thing to work once on 8700K and it was phenomenal. It melted perfectly and covered the entire IHS like a glove. It was a real nightmare to remove later (like it was welded to the IHS) and I had to use a razor blade to peel it off in tiny fragments. I could never get it to work right again on subsequent attempts. I must have just gotten lucky that one time, LOL.

I am glad that worked out well. I have seen so many horror stories that the thought of heating them, even with something that shouldn't be hot enough to melt solders scares me. Sometimes the soldering is very weak on memory modules and I have seen several examples of where the modules got literally ripped off the PCB with hardly any effort. I think to be on the safe side I will stick with paint thinner since that worked really well for me last time to dissolve the adhesive. You just have to be careful not to submerge the part number decal, because it will remove that in a jiffy.

Totally. If there is no place to send the heat and no way to dissipate it because the dumb-dumbs that made it cut too many corners on the design and engineering then you're pretty much done. Nothing is going to fix that and any efforts in that regard are utterly futile. The only solutions are sell it to someone that doesn't care that it is a piece of garbage or return it for a refund.

Yes, I use the 7958 on my desktop with 13900K/Apex. It's good stuff.

I have the 7950 Pad on my laptop 4090 while the bare die 13900HX is using LM.

I also tested the 7950 Pad in the past on a 6750 XT that had a huge delta between core and hotspot. It not only improved core but lowered the delta down to around 10c between core/hotspot. So the pad/sheets work great on GPUs.

I can't find the paste anywhere. Did you have to buy it on AliExpress?

Thanks for the mention on the AMD hotspot. I will be putting the pad on the 6900 XT tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully, it will help with that.

@Mr. Fox My HWINFO did not have that feature, I was like what in the heck, I do not see that option. Okay here you go I got HWinfo v7.62 now! This is my timings that I used for 56 minutes of Anta777 Extreme with Testmem5 at 8600. After 56 min or so, it did show like 2-3 errors.

Correct Timings I used

Yes I grabbed mine on eBuy7. I went with the 7958 version for the paste.

FSR 3.0 launched today but only some games support it, its a preview driver. Looks good and also give good performance increase on nvidia hardware 😆

Also it working good on 2060 😀

YES, Nvidia has no excuse to keep their FR exclusive on 40xx series!

This is the list of games right now, lets hope they will add more and more to it fast.

Tested FSR3 Frame Gen on my 4090 in both games. Unfortunately it's linked to forcing FSR, no DLSS available and looks like garbage because of this. The tech itself does seem to work decently enough, and seems to take a different approach than Nvidia. They are like doubling the frame vs AI generating a frame. This leads to visual issues. See below.

It's also odd to me that they didn't do a preview/early sample to tech outlets that usually review this stuff. Then they released it with 2 terrible games. Either way I gave it it try since I have access to both games and ya not terribly impressed.

This is at 4K Quality FSR with Frame Gen in motion. Horrible ghosting, fizzles, and halos around objects. Some of the textures are just missing basically.

Bah- The pads? heard nothing but great things and awesome feedback, I bought the fake aliexpress ones and as funny as it sounds they still lowered temps, just have to check out the ebuy7 one. I broke down and just ordered a Iets GT500 laptop cooler, its the best cooler that you can buy this side of homemade. Looks like i'll be seeing temps in the 70s-80s with maxed out clocks on gpu and cpu, who knows maybe ill break a record with ddr4 ram.

also I feel bad about a previous post as alot of people read various posts at random from the internet and there is a alot of false info floating around. but 32gb ram is more than enough, going from 32gb to 64gb results in no performance gains and if you do see a bump it has nothing to do with the amount of ram unless of course your loading 4 games in windowed mode with chrome playing 100 songs at the same time in the background, but yeah 0 gain. 48gb however(?).

my safety is it was free. and I found out my ddr4 performs better than some ddr5 thanks to tighter timings.

posted this at the same time, but FG3 from AMD, this is just wicked good news for me and my 3060. might spark another glimmer of life in its longevity if there even is with laptops

What games is it released on? Besides the 2.3Ghz internal clock speed, this FSR3 is really gonna save my 3090 Kingpin. I’m hoping to see FSR3 mature nicely.

I think it’s disgusting that Nvidia did not offer frame regeneration on RTX3000 series. 😞 this is one of the main things I’m so upset with them over.
