So, in a completely unlike me turn of events, my first post here is to drop a benchmark result! I'm also actually on a desktop as of this year =O

I gots this Time Spy result earlier https://www.3dmark.com/spy/42181815

And we got a picture for proof

Screenshot_17430.png?ex=6538374d&is=6525

And apparently, this somehow makes me a grand total of rank 6th in the world for this hardware combination! Yay!

Screenshot_17432.png?ex=65383778&is=6525

@Mr. Foxhere are you proud? I actually benchmarked xD

This is with a Founder's Edition 3080 btw, stock vBIOS and stock cooler

Don't you know? We're all supposed to have i9-16900KS chips at 8GHz or R7 9960X3Ds at 7GHz along with 6090Tis and RX 9900XXTXTXX cards to run it at 1440p 144fps without FSR 2, it's not their fault that we don't have time machines to get them right away! Their game is optimized, they PROMISE! That's why it runs worse than while also looking worse than Cyberpunk 2077 which came out 3 years ago.

Also, fixed your typo. Lots of people forget their name is Bugthesda and misspell it by saying "Bethesda".

Did you miss me, Papusan?

DUUUUDE, has been AGES! so good to see you here bud, i just laughed my butt off at your last post 🤣

Oh yes I will do that, I forgot.

I was just looking at a video of gamer's nexus overclocking 3080s and I'm starting to be in disbelief at my card's daily driver settings.

#4080 officially down to $999 is still bad value#. 42% above 3080 is awful. 4090 is 7% above 3090 and this should be the same for all Nvidias graphics SKUs. So no thanks. Still 35% too expensive.

BIGGEST GPU DISCOUNT EVER! RTX 4080 HUGE SALE

"They are all about the PSUs, KB/M and coolers (in that order) now it seems".Evga have cheaped out and moved to 3 years warranty for their mid tier PSUs. That's worse than many other of the cheaper brands who offer 5 years warranty on PSUs that cost less than the one you get from Evga. EVGA is Dead. And maybe 3 years warranty match when they are out of business?

Thanks for posting the video. And very nice to see our old good friends @d2ultima and @DrAMK replied on your video.

Edit. @D2ultimaWellcome to new NBR. Nice to see you. And I hope @DrAMK join us as well 🙂

Compared to the previous generation, it is definitely bad value....but not *as* bad so "suck it up and buy it" (Jensen mantra).

I still think the 4070 and 4090 are the "not so bad" values out of the entire lot. Luckily at least AMD is putting some pressure on Nvidia to keep them somewhat honest in the lower tiers.

I don't know what EVGA is doing but they are definitely focusing on the higher profit margins now both in products offered and shortened warranties. They could actually turn bigger profits overall focusing on high margin peripherals like Corsair. Maybe start to offer other items too. Motherboards and GPUs are tight margins and especially motherboards are lower volume items.

I'm not sure about 4070. But a better priced 4070Ti could offer some good value at 650-700$.

The GeForce RTX 4070Ti started life as the canceled RTX 4080 12GB which was supposed to sell for $899. So 150$ off would be easier to swallow. The much weaker 4070 shouldn't be a cent above $550.

Yeah, I think the 4070 is in a solid place now, as you can get quite decent cards in their line for $550 or a bit less.

4070Ti is overpriced, and so is 4080. 4090 is just a beast of a card and I guess you could argue it's worth it, but the rest of their line is so silly. If they'd sell the 4070Ti for $700 we'd be getting somewhere

5,912.00 nok excl. VAT. = $544.71 USD here home

And this isn't with an discounted price. Ordinary retail price.... Not bad when you know how expensive tech can be in Norway 🙂

Not the most known Memory brand. But 8400 MT/s for 123 euros at Amazon.

Test: Lexar ARES RGB 6400 MT/s CL32
https://overclocking.com/test-lexar-ares-rgb-6400-mt-s-cl32/6/

This ARES RGB 6400 MT/s CL32 DDR5 memory kit from Lexar is flawless. For a first discovery of the brand, we couldn't imagine better. With the most affordable price currently for 6400 MT/s CL32, it would be a real shame to miss out on it knowing that it is equipped with the best memory chips currently available, the Hynix A-die.

Or $88 with an 29% discount  if this is the correct mem sticks. Can't beat such deals.

Yup. AMD have nothing that can compete with 4090. Hence we never see 4090 below MSRP. And they are still popular cards because of the disgusting prices for the 4080s and still no 4080Ti.

These cracks are ridiculous. It's happening on all cards. They're too heavy unless you use the brace. I have a brace under my cards since launch and haven't had an issue. But they need to make it clearer to consumers that the card needs this to be used. To be fair, all of my cards, except for the FE had a brace in the box.

what kinda pricing are you aiming for? are your also considering refurbs or second hand with warranty? just curious 🙂

I generally buy brand new and then resell as like new (because generally for most of my hardware I use it very slightly for overclocking and/or testing - then they end up back in their box) - @Mr. Fox and @tps3443 can tell you.

All options are on the table for either the 7900 XTX or 4090. Warranty really doesn't matter to me for pre-owned hardware. Unless it was an EVGA GPU, most warranties do not transfer, so that is why as a buyer you expect a certain level of discount.

ah aight then. here in the EU at least u have the minimum 2 yr warranty that doesnt really consider if ure the original owner or not. but yeah, anything above that via the manufacturer warranty would be different.

A warranty is only as good as the company looking for lame excuses to shirk their ethical duties. The only one that had anything that resembled ethics and cared about customer experience no longer makes or sells GPUs and motherboards. "The law" is never enough to make bad people or bad companies good, because they are fundamentally bad, dishonest and lawless.

My GPU is right at exactly 5lbs on a scale with no water in it. It’s super heavy. Fortunately it has laid vertical all this time. The rear thermal pad under the backplate added like 6-7 ounces to its weight 🤣

Yes. That is one very heavy thermal pad. I think some people would complain about a notebook weighing as much, LOL.

Even before GPUs weighed as much as a newborn child, it was very foolish to not support one with a brace when the installation is conventional and gravity is putting stress on the PCIe connector. It is also very bad for the motherboard, not only the GPU. Even using the expanding foam bags inside of a chassis when shipping a pre-built is risky. Better off shipping the GPU in a separate box. But, that would cause some people a great deal of stress because they don't even own a screwdriver and couldn't find their head if it were not permanently attached to their neck.

I think it is also kind of risky to have a GPU installed in a manner where it is suspended by the I/O bracket unless it is properly braced with a bracket attached to the chassis. The PCB is not designed to be under lateral stress. Cracking is almost inevitable if there is an upset of the chassis.

Horizontal motherboard trays and vertical GPU mounts in a conventional vertical motherboard installation solve most of these problems.

edit: aaaaand just stumbled upon this nice article lol

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/rtx-4090-16-pin-connector-melted-after-one-year-of-usage

then again, no surprise considering how frequently papu has been keeping us updated on new incidences like these 😅

Yup. From that tomshardware article.... "We now know it can take years for symptoms to crop up". Exactly what I have predicted.

In short.... Some of you have bought an Ticking Bomb 🙂

Not much plastic left on these thin flimsy power pins. All the cheap plastic have gone up in smoke.

CDN media

Another Asus 4090 melted

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I really look forward to this.... Hope Tomshardware editors have correct... Nvidia have silently changed the 12VHPWR connector so I think people have a good chance to win vs. Nvidia.

I've always braced my GPUs since Ampere. I even have my Suprim X Liquid 4090 braced. Safety of course but the OCD part of me cringes at a sagging GPU.

MSI and Asus follow the card / serial # not the user so their warranties transfer too. I just RMA'd a Ventus 3070 to MSI no problem third hand. Took three weeks but they sent me a new card.

Outside of that, you're SOL for warranty transfers and you're at the mercy of the original buyer helping facilitate a repair or the OEM having mercy on you (good luck).

Ah I wanna pop in on this, they only make AMD cards but Sapphire is such an excellent company that they make EVGA look average by comparison.

The MILLISECOND they start making Nvidia GPUs (which I highly doubt) I will instantaneously no longer consider any other Nvidia GPU manufacturer to exist

@Mr. Fox I was gonna buy a flow meter. I have been wanting one forever now. So, I’m looking at the Aqua Computer Next RGB flow meter that measures flow rate, it measures water temp, and it measures water quality AKA: how much metal is in the water etc, or when it’s time to change that EARL 😂 kinda like a car does lol.

Well, that Aqua Computer NEXT flow sensor only is $111 dollars. (😭 Very Very expensive)

AbkOuDU.png

Anyways, I was browsing Titan Rig, and I found the Aqua Computer D5 NEXT pump with the same flow sensor attached to the pump housing with a D5 pump included for $115 with the 10% off coupon 🤣 (Why the heck not! I get a flow sensor, and a full power D5 pump attached to it for $4 more dollars🤯) (I’ll TAKE IT) 🙂 Only 1 was left in-stock. But, I would definitely grab grab one of these when they come back in-stock. You can add a pump, and remove your flow meter that could potentially restrict flow rate.  What a deal!

I have one of these on each desktop and really like them. Half the cost of what you were looking at.

I have the Aqua Computer Next. Bought it in the used market a year ago. And for below half the price. And yup... I have turned of the RGB😁 I hate bling bling.
