I'm not interested in helping them benefit by recovering more than their actual out-of-pocket loss. I'm willing to pay what they paid for it when they bought the batch. Offering them the chance to break even on the sale of a used part should be viewed as a gift.

There's clearly a market for binned chips especially with 14th gen producing so many stinkers. People keep commenting and laughing on the for sale threads yet they're selling relatively quick especially SP104+

They're only selling for laughable prices because desperate-to-play buyers are willing to pay a laughable price. If the most anyone was willing to pay for it is new retail (remembering it's no longer new) then things would be right. The seller would be unable to sell it to anyone if they want more than to be made whole (unless they were foolish and paid more than retail for an unbinned CPU) and the buyer would pay what the chip was worth before the box got opened. An even greater tragedy occurs when the lousy below-average samples get sold to a sucker for a little bit less than retail rather than being sent back to the retailer on an RMA. It is naive to assume that the undesirable samples a chip-binner is selling are special and it only stands to reason a significant number of them, perhaps even all of them, are something less than special. As the second owner you're double-screwed. You can't RMA it like the original buyer could have.

The Arc A770 runs Halo Infinite Campaign like a champ with medium settings and high AA and Async Compute enabled. Nice and cool as well, especially for an air-cooled GPU. I have the voltage locked at 1.155V under load, with the power limit bumped to 452W and core clock locked at 2700. Averaging 103 FPS with low latency at 1440p. Hopefully someday Intel will give us access to overclock the memory. Even stock, the VRAM runs about where I could overclock the 6900 XT memory, so it's not bad at stock memory clock. The Arc tools work really well otherwise. This is a fantastic GPU for $300. I will have to see how it runs with High and Ultra presets.

Intel Arc A770 flagship GPU hits all-time low of $210 $199 in Cyber Monday deal (with a free game).

I shoud buy one at this price ($100 less) and return the original one. I've had it 18 days. But, I won't do that because it would be a shady move. I will message them and ask them to give me in-store credit for the difference in price though.

Part of me wants to buy it now for $199 and sell my 4090 for more than I paid for it because I know I could get more than enough to cover the A770 with money left over and still give the buyer a price better than what a 4090 Suprim is selling for now... IF you can even find one. I paid the correct price for my 4090.

You would not regret it. Amazing value even at the not-on-sale price. For $199 it is a no-brainer. I played some Modern Warfare III (2023) on it yesterday and with a mixture of medium and high settings it was always over 100 FPS at 1440p. Smooth as silk.

Yeah, I bet I could put the air cooler back on it and get probably $2300 or more for it. I paid under $1800 for it. I don't really want to sell it, but the thought of buying another A770 and putting the left over $2000 into the bank while I wait for Battlemage to drop is tempting.  And, I bet I could get $75-$100 for the waterblock on top of that.

I expect you mean with tax. 2023 VAT Rates in Europe - Tax Foundation

With MSRP it means without any taxes (VAT). There is still a few different 4090's available here home.

Here's 3 samples of 4090's you can buy here. Without our lovely 25% Norwegian Tax beauty. AKA the cards real MSRP. Then add your contries prefered tax hell on top to get the real prices you have to pay. But in short... Inflated prices due nvidia prefer feeding China and their partners with 4090's for server purpose to pump up max profits.

GeForce RTX 4090 24GB TUF Gaming OG OC - $1755.00 USD

MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X - $1,997.35 USD
MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X Liquid slightly cheaper than the air cooled card for one or another weird reason.

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC - $2060

Etc.... The more expensive ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC will cost me $2575 USD included 25% VAT. A more dried up market here home now but you can get hold on 4090's if you are willing to pay $300 more than what you had 2-3 months ago. 300$ price hike means +10% price increase for 4090's the last couple of months.

Quite a few people being very upset when they see prices deviates a lot from the MSRP. Some people can't understand that there is the different countries VAT greed system that makes the prices look worse than what they really are. You often need to substract the VAT to compare prices other have to pay in other countries with much lower taxes/none taxes. But yup, VAT greed and disgusting price policy from Nvidia make it hard for a lot people. And not only for those that buy the high end. Mid end an low end cards is also awful priced with the dreaded tax (the cherry on top).

You can't spend what the government confiscates, that's for sure. That applies even here in the US. Some states are more socialistic and abusive to their citizens than others. One solution to the problem is simple (leave and go somewhere else) but doing so can be disruptive to one's family, social life or career. The better solution would be to eliminate the corrupt government entities and replace them with entities that will repeal the destructive misappropriation of private wealth. California and New York are the worst and most extreme examples of the abject foolishness of Robinhood governance and it has done nothing to elevate lower class. It only punishes success and rewards failure.

Yeah, you can't include federal, state or local taxes when comparing prices. Those are first-world problems that are not relevant when comparing costs between markets. They matter and suck to the person getting screwed by their government, and may affect their ability to purchase the item, but it is not a legitimate part of the price comparison.

I am not liking the direction that supercool computer is going. Their new 14th gen DD design is $155. I already know my lapped 13th gen Supercool DD would slay it. Bigger is not better. More expensive is not better.

His prices are scaling up, and the parts are getting fancier looking.

I mean, I think it’s great. But dude we like the cheap direct die kit lol.

And, it remains to be seen if the fancier and more expensive stuff works as well. The answer is quite often, no... more expensive and fancier stuff is often inferior because the maker loses focus on what made them successful.

Prices will continue to trend up on 4090s especially with China breaking them down into AI units and AD102 full fat full steam ahead in Nvidia 6000 units.

I've thought about selling mine but the 7900xtx debacle really only leaves a 4080 or 3090/3090ti as a viable option for my gaming needs and the 4090 blows all of them out of the water and then some unless I switch back to my 4k 60hz freesync BenQ (which still has the nicest picture of them all) but even then WoW would dip below 60fps from time to time on my KPE 3090ti at 4k Ultra while my 4090 stays at 100fps even in the roughest places.

Yeah, I am not selling mine. It works too well and nothing comes close to matching the performance. The price was disgusting when I bought it, and more disgusting now, but the money was spent. If I had it to do over again I might not, but I did it and what's done is done.

Those 4090’s aren’t too bad of a value. I’d rather pay $1,200 for a 4080 Super with 20GB and be just a little slower though. But this $1,500-$1,600 is the new norm LOL. And yeah the 4090 is a tank. I should have bought one 😫

Based upon what we've read, the 4080 Super is going to be a touch faster (~5%) than a normal 4080 using the full fat AD103 die versus a cut down AD102 and still packing 16GB of VRAM.

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4080-super.c4182

I wouldn't be surprised if in the spring we get a 4080TI if Nvidia can allocate enough defective AD102 dies to make it happen with 20GB.

I am at the point now that I am having a hard time identifying value in paying a lot of money for a GPU because:
- Having a decent gaming experience doesn't require having a monster GPU unless you are a settings snob
- Gaming is something I enjoy, but it's not something I spend a massive amount of time doing

- Overclocking is my hobby and most (all) GPUs are so crippled now with cancer firmware the endeavor is futile

Adjusting my expectations, exactly as I did for the 3060 Ti, the Arc A770 does everything I need it to do for gaming. Spending $1000-$2000 more for a 4080 or 4090 would be frivolous. Paying $350-$650 more for a 4070 Ti with castrated VRAM would also be kind of stupid.

When gaming I cannot discern a quality difference between medium, high and ultra graphics settings. I mean, I could if I stopped and starting closely analyzing everything and being super critical instead of focusing on having fun playing the game. Doing that with an inexpensive GPU doesn't make any sense. You SHOULD be super critical if you paid a buttload of money for a flagship GPU, and you should expect it to be nearly flawless with everyting maxed out. But if I am enjoying a game, I am too busy with playing the game to notice minuscule changes in image clarity as long as it is not terrible looking and as long as the gameplay is smooth. I am totally fine toning down the settings or using frame generation to smooth the rough edges. At the Cyber Monday price of $199 it was an insane bargain and at the price today ($279 earlier today) it is an incredible value.

Yup, with the amount fully working AD102 chips they throw out I expect there will be quite amount defective die's that can't be used for 4090's. What's better than use those for $1299 or even worse $1399 USD 4080Ti's.

I really do believe I have a storage addiction. I could happily ignore GPUs (almost picked up a 4090 from GameStop of all places because it was at MSRP), CPUs (I have a 7600X that I eventually want to replace with a 7950X) and etc. Storage is my Achilles heel. I just picked up three more 4TB Acer GM7000 SSDs, which are criminally underrated by reviewers and buyers.

For the Storage Jockey😀 Yup, with your addiction I know you would never ever put all the eggs in the cloud.

Disgusting? Google (Alphabet) have spent all too much time, work and money on "how to get rid of ad blockers" than be sure their backup servers/software works as expected. Once again... Don't trust big corps/and their cloud backup services.

Google Drive files go missing for desktop users
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2156644/google-drive-files-go-missing-for-desktop-users.html

A reply from a Google employee says that the company is aware of the issue and working on it, stating that it’s affecting a “limited subset of Drive for desktop users.” Google says that in the meantime you shouldn’t delete any of your local files or disconnect your account from within the Drive app. Oh, and you should probably back up those files somewhere else — you know, that thing you’re paying Google to do for you.

If you’re relying on Google Drive for any important files, you might want to take a look and perhaps consider an alternative service.

That mentality is what is wrong with tech in general. Game, software and hardware developers and manufacturers have the gall to believe they know what is best for the purchasers of their products and are foolish enough to think it is OK to tell us what we should think about and how we should use those products. The tail is wagging the dog here. The exact opposite is how things are supposed to be. But we let the lefty fake news zombies and our woke, worthless, corrupt and idiotic governmental regulators do the same thing. So, why not them, too? Maybe the majority of the members of the human race actually are just too darned stupid to function without being told how to function. I guess that's why they are referred to as sheeple. So, the rest of us get to enjoy the crap they are willing to put up with, and we are unreasonable, icky, mean and racist if we call them out or resist their filth.

With the 4090 being such a great card and outclassing everything, you either step up for your overpriced spanking or suffer.

In theory, getting a 7900xtx, selling my 4090 and pocketing the substantial difference looks great on paper.....but Nvidia just has it down to a science both hardware and software right now for my needs.

Sold the 6700XT on Fleabay and returning the 7900XTX tomorrow. I'm officially done with AMD GPUs this time around. Gave the 7900XTX a chance twice in January and now. Two different models. Things actually got worse in 10 months!

Nvidia isn't innocent and did this before too for WoW players. They had bad drivers that broke when they updated their drivers for Cyberpunk 2077 during Ampere and textures flickered for a solid 9 months before they finally fixed it.

AMD drivers broke around March and it has been downhill since.

Still no proper frame cap.

Numerous issues in WoW (RT stutters, DX12 doesn't work, black screens, lock ups, freezes)

Absolutely gets crushed in FO76 compared to the 4090 in 4k.

Testing on 7800X3D or 13900KS made no difference with the issues.

I don't know what happened. The 5700XT was an absolute joy to use in WoW. and other games....

I will say the 7900XTX and even 6700XT held their own in Starfield though.

And of course my 7800X3D dying....lol....the hits keep on coming. 🤣

I ordered an Asrock B650M open box for $86 that arrived yesterday so I'll be able to test the CPU and memory independently of the MSI board just in case before sending it in for a replacement. I was going to build out an mATX system anyhow with some spare parts I have so it will end up there when all is said and done.

sad to hear man, but thanks for the valuable first hand info on current AMD gpus. as for X3D parts dying...welp that in combo with the limited tuning capabilities kinda keeps me from switching over. quite happy with my 7950X, curious to see what its actually capable of, so far ive been focusing on the 4090 and ram, now its cpu tuning time!

still, works nicely with the delid-die-mate! cant test the cpu yet since were on the road (wifey driving, baby sleeping, daddy casually delidding on his lap in the backseat 😂), but result looks very promising, no obvious chip damage. ill clean up the pcb, dies and stock ihs and update again once done 😁
