Yup. As expected. What a beauty. That 16-pin connector is really bad and you have to pay shipping a second time if you'll continue support CM. I'm pretty sure the owner of Northfix repair often dreams of Cablemod products. Cablemod = Please continue make me rich😆

I do not have the container to verify, but it should be ethylene glycol. It is whatever I can buy for the least amount at Walmart that is not red or yellow. I usually look for the blue Asian car type. It is a premix and after I add the gallon the rest of what goes in the loop is distilled water, so it is diluted quite a bit.

yup, so to get an idea where your voltages land to see how they scale naturally. If you want, you can even set adaptive UV or fixed as long as it is consistent across all +1 bin scaling upwards but pure stock just gives you an idea of scaling.

I can see you with a chiller one day 🙂

Laptop overclocking is fun and finally taming that NH55 to not thermal throttle with a 12900k was exciting but nothing compares to the options and freedom of desktop overclocking where the only limitations are your pocketbook, convenience and risk aversion.

I probably will get one sometime in the future if I don't have an easier option to achieve sub-ambient temperatures. My current case allows for external water cooling as it has rubber holes in the back that I can route tubes through.

For anyone on this thread who has a chiller, what would you say is a good chiller to get?

Got me a waterblock ready. This thing was disgusting inside from using some cheap pastel coolant with it in 2020. I had to sand it down to bare copper and make it completely flat.

400 dry sand

400 wet sand

600 dry sand

600 wet sand

1000 dry sand

1000 wet sand

This block is as flat as flat can be.

One thing I don’t have is proper mounting hardware. So, I had to use what I had. Using just long screws with plastic washers on each side to protect the motherboard. Hopefully this works okay.

all cleaned up, protected the SMDs with some fingernail polish from my wife (applied after i took this pic) and off back under the stock IHS with LM and kryonaut on top for some initial testing.

luckily the cpu still works 😁 got some baseline results before delidding with CB2024 60 min loop so had smth to compare this to. results aint too bad, -2.5C to -4.7C depending on CCD. so with the custom TG IHS should be even better, especially with double LM under and on top of it 😎

This looks like a really tricky cpu to delid. Not just that, but you have 3 dies to clean and worry over lol. I’ve seen a few of these break after delids.

I am starting to change my views on delidding. Of course it works amazingly well on some chips. But I have kind of realized that the gains are only +100Mhz for Intel chips. I am gonna give the stock IHS and stock Intel solder a solid chance with my new 14900KF. And if it’s great I am gonna leave it be. But if it is unsatisfactory, then I’m delidding it and going back to Supercool direct die cooling. I’d rather run the stock Intel IHS and stock Intel solder because of its longevity and consistency after long periods of time. Fingers crossed. With chilled water and lots of flow rate, you’d think it would work extremely well. (I hope so) 🙂

oh yes definitely way more finicky. ive popped several intel cpus and compared to this total piece of cake 😄 but when it does work, all the more satisfying! likely wont be coming around to installing the custom TG ihs until next weekend, i need the machine working in the meantime 😛

I look forward to seeing how it turns out. The delid of the 5950X that I had provided no benefit whatsoever. Temps were terrible with liquid metal due to poor contact (uneven CCD heights) and was basically identical to pre-delid using normal thermal paste. I hope it turns out nice with liquid metal and the TG IHS.

One of my friends bought CENS last R batch chip. He bought the P-SP117, E-SP84, and mcsp85, he paid €1,248 EUROS shipped. So about $1,350 USD. CENS tested over 65 CPU’s and every single one of them was an R batch. So, he was essentially binning and selling the very best, from the “Should be” very best chips.

Very nice CPU though. And the prices for these chips are not bad at all, considering what retail US samples are looking like. You are essentially guaranteeing your self a very strong P/E core with low voltages and also a very strong IMC. 😎

Nvidia made this possible. And they know this would lead to new ways to use 4090's... And they also know this would lead to massive shortage of 4090's to the gamers. Nvidia's greed and hunger for max profits is awful. U.S Government should have issued an massive fine to Nvidia. In billiards. Be you sure.... Nvidia know what would happens with all the AD102 chips they flooded to China. And they know most of the cards would never ever end to the gamers...

I hope the U.S government never forget this and STOP any ask for license under the "NEC" eligibility rule to Nvidia. They deserve nothing. Only the mentioned fine. In billions value.

They should alaso issues a huge fine. Minimum the same as the profits they get from the shipped chips/Gpu's.

Depends on the eye. I would have to pay +$1690 USD to get the chips shipped up here home. No in hell a mainstream Cpu is worth this type price point. Even $1200 USD is quite high for binned mainstream chips.

I think that any and all forms of trade with China, Russia and North Korea (perhaps a few others) should be banned by the US and its allies. These nations are the enemies of the free world and they should be deprived of any means of earning an income or flourishing financially in a global economy. They should be put in a position where mere survival becomes extremely difficult and their primary point of focus. They treat their own citizens like crap, so the idea that they should have a place at the table with the rest of us is simply ludicrous.

Yeah, same here. That's just way too much money for a mainstream consumer CPU. We don't make any money, gain fame or notoriety off of this hobby and if I have to pay anything that closely resembles double retail to get a decent part it becomes very difficult to enjoy. Especially so when it will be obsolete in a matter of months and might suddenly die without a warranty to replace it with another just like it, or refund my money, before I am done playing with it.

I look at it both ways. Would I pay that much for a binned chip? No. But do I see merit in those who want to pursue their hobbies as they see fit to extract maximum enjoyment? Absolutely. 🙂

CENS listed and sold every single chip pretty quickly so there is clearly a market for pre-binned costly chips to assure a decent sample so you can just go ahead and enjoy your silicon.

I got the €1550 one for €1348. Yes it was expensive. I’m happy it’s the 2nd best though, and CENS not coming off the 1st best. But I would have gladly taken one of the cheaper ones too. I’m pretty surprised they all sold and went so quickly after a few people including my self bought the very first ones. You had to be fairly quick with his follow up sales post to grab one of the cheaper ones.

I looked back in my emails, and saw that I bought my 13900KS in March of 2023. So I had a long run with a below average SP104 KS. I’ll keep this new chip until 15th gen. I’ll be able to get at least a good year out of it. Until 15th gen is out in the wild.

4080Ti's if it's real it should have 110 SM's. From techpowerup data page. Thats too powerful if nvidia want to sell new cards to the Chinese market (1/3 of their GPU market). Nvidia was forced to castrate the new 4090D (D for Defective - Downgrade - Disgusting) down to 100 SM's. Why would you create new xx80 GPU's that can't be sold world wide ? And why would you use defective AD102 dies that instead can go directly into the more expensive 4090D/workstation cards for the Chinese market? Hmm... Food for thoughts.

Today's question.... Will bro @Mr. Fox jump on AMD products within the next couple of years?😁

The five worst AMD GPUs of all time: So bad we can't forget them Historically awful AMD GPUs.

Dishonorable Mention: Radeon 8500 and Driver Woes

Although Radeon drivers are definitely better today than they were back then, but as with all major chipmakers, AMD (which bought ATI in 2006) still manages to put critical bugs in its drivers from time to time. Just this year, there was a buggy driver that could corrupt your Windows installation, another that transformed Radeon 780M iGPUs into the slower 760M, and even a driver feature that got Counter Strike 2 players banned.

Given my natural tendency to extend more forgiveness than what is deserved it is possible that could happen, but apart from that the chances of it are extremely slim. Every time I have given AMD another chance to make me happy it has ended in regret and unhappiness, so I will try to keep that historical fact in focus and not expect a leopard to lose its spots.

I would give the 8900XTX a try! But, 7900XTX is not fast enough so no on that one. Yes to 8900XT/XTX, I would give one a whirl 100%. I think with AMD’s next GPU we should see some nice gains where people with 3090/3090Ti are safe to finally upgrade!! I’d also like to try a high end Intel GPU (Please Intel? Where is the Big ARC? Maybe they’ll release an Intel ARC A780X or A790X . Otherwise, I think 4080Ti is maybe my next GPU 100% certain. So long as it has the 14,000+ Cuda Cores and 320 bit bus at least. (almost sounds more like a RTX4080 GTS though lol) why only a 320 bit interface? We should have a 352 but bus at least. 🙏

The 4080Ti is the dang “TI” it’s supposed to be brutally fast and hundreds cheaper than the Titan/90 brand GPU! It should offer value with nearly all that peak performance. I hope Nvidia doesn’t release a crap 4080 Ti. It should be within 15% of a 4090 honestly.

Prior Ti’s were all amazing besides the 3090Ti. But we’ll see.

And, if it’s $1,199 USD. That would be amazing. Same cost as 2080Ti which was an awesome GPU! But I feel like the 4080Ti is gonna have to be strong to be worth $1200 bucks. There’s only so much time left for the beast 4090 to reign supreme. It’s time to offer most of that power and performance, but only at a lower price.

LOL, if you were "safe" to upgrade from your 2080ti to a 3090, you are definitely safe to upgrade from a 3090 to a 4090. 🤣

I hope the 8900xtx smashes Nvidia into the ground because the 7900xtx was a bit of a let down after all the pre-launch hype and pseudo CU count that AMD didn't correct properly and let speculation fly amok.

I said it before and I'll say it again, you will get a 4080ti dab smack in the middle of the 4080 and 4090 for ~1299 or 1399 with 20GB and a slower memory bus.

I am guessing we might *might* get a 4090ti Summer of 2024 and the 5090 drops Q1 2025. Either scenario, if you have a 4090, a 4090ti is DOA as 5090 is right around the corner. Don't pull an "Electrosoft" 🤣 and get all nostalgic and order a KPE 3090ti for $2499 and end up regretting it (But then EVGA refunded me the $500 difference when it dropped and a collector wanted it for $2k so I broke even and am still using the included 1600w P2 to this day but still....)

You can always sit back and wait and compromise or you just order the new king launch card, ride it out for the entire cycle, get the new king launch card, sell your old card (or not) for what you can get...rinse/repeat.

My only problem when the 5090 drops is Fallout76 and WoW have met their 4k Ultra match even with RT enabled with the 4090 for 144hz displays. For the first time, I am hard pressed to find a compelling reason to upgrade next cycle outside of the ever present, "I want it."

I am rapidly coming up on a full year of owning this MSI  4090 Liquid Suprim X in one month and it has been an absolute joy and beast of a card. Outside of the price, I have zero complaints.

Yup, the Arctic Liquid Freezer II is still a good AIO. Even better if you swap the fans to something more powerful. No need to buy AIOs with all the disgusting bling bling all over the places

How good is cheap? Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 and 360 in the test – This standard has to be beaten igorslab

A new 4080Ti won't be sold in China. A real scalpers card. Cheap enough to make proper profits when you ship it over to China. Hmmm. I wonder how high the Global price hike will be above MSRP.

Since I moved my 13900ks and Z790i Edge to the big rig for now while I sort out my 7800X3D woes, I switched back to my AC LF II 420 from the EVGA CLC 360 I had in there and it leveled the EK Nucleus 240 in cooling the exact same setup but obviously wouldn't fit in an ITX case.

ITX looks so tiny in there!

an4y7tq.jpg

Unfortunately the AC LF II 240 uses hoses off the top like the bigger models and that makes it a nonstarter for many ITX cases that support AIOs. First AIO I looked at for my ITX plans was AC.  It was one reason I couldn't use my EVGA CLC 280 too. Without the side mounted flexible connect hoses it makes it almost impossible to work with most ITX cases.

Speaking of 4090 pricing.....yikes!

Unbelievably stupid, but not as unbelievable and stupid as the reality that idiots are willing pay that price (and even a lot more than that) for one. They are responsible for it just as much as the dishonest people scalping the public. Scalpers can't scalp if there are no people dumb enough to be compliant. It is $2500 to $2800 on Amazon depending on who the slime ball seller is. Like it or not, all of us suffer the consequences and misfortune of an idiotic minority's existence.

+$600 above MSRP smells as the good old mining days. Nvidia seems to win the lottery time and time again. The gamers always loose. Nvidia vs gamer's 10-0 🙄 Are gamers loosers?🙄

Regarding ITX. Not what I prefer. Too much limitations. In all ways.

The only way this can ever get fixed is if enough people wise up and make it impossible for the imbeciles scalping the public to earn a living by forcing them into bankruptcy and shutting down their businesses with aging inventory that is only sellable at a price less than what they paid for it. I doubt there are enough intelligent people for that to happen, but I would love to be proven wrong.

If things turn out like they should, it will turn out like this for all of them...
