yeah its frustrating. gpu does same thing even though iv'e flashed a 140w vbios. clocks are set to 2100 and they bounce from 1700-1800 with cool temps. cpu is awful, I have never been able to get 14000-16000 like others. If I do end up buying a laptop again just because of its compact size im going with a clevo one. I bought a clevo back in the day and it was fast and ran at full bore, sad that 15 years ago i could just pop in a new mxm gfx card, good thing the greedy clowns in charge took that ability away with new laptops

The EC can communicate with both the CPU and GPU directly to manipulate power limits and clocks along with other things. Unfortunately the thresholds for these manipulations are not usually discussed or listed by OEMs.

At least with Clevo we can still get schematics with design limits listed and an open source BIOS and EC to manipulate things. The cooling capability is behind other competitors now and I have not seen much movement from aftermarket heatsink vendors on Taobao other than potentially improved fans.

Not exactly pure stock, but not too far off. I’m running my own XOC profile for my ram. 8600c36-49-49-49-63 with 262k tREFI and fully tuned secondary timings. This 8600 profile increases my Vmin/Vmax by 0.027mv-0.029mv over 8200c40 xmp. This profile is stable for anything, so I don’t touch it unless absolutely necessary. It has built a pretty tall brick wall in stability over all of the reboots and re-trains since I’ve been running it for so long now.

I didn't even acknowledge the memory in this testing since you're using CB23 which really doesn't move at all with memory settings. 🙂

Did you create tuned 8200 and 8400 profiles too? If so, let me take a looksy and see if I can get them to run on my system now that SA is not an issue.

@electrosoft I noticed WOW is on geforce now. I was wondering since you seem to still love the game, whats a good starter pack. im getting back into gaming I think because of my mental health I think chess and some games would be good for me along with bike riding. need to keep busy. I played WOW a few years ago and found it relaxing much like my racing games, also I don't remember but can you chat with other people in wow or just friends?

finally managed to get a smart enough AI language model to run locally to help with benchmarking, it helped out quite a bit and was fairly straight forward, 0 changes to thermals and hardware like fans or paste just pure increase in scores. managed 13348 which is crazy high for a 11800h omen 16 without overclocking

Screenshot-71.png

no special settings, basically quality mode not performance and still getting my highest scores with the AI tweaks

I can go higher but im happy now, cpu is running good whewf

Xpac starts at level 68 (max cap 80). Since it is new, that would be my end goal at this point.

To have fun casually leveling, they let you pick most of the previous Xpac's to level up through to at least level 50. My favorite Xpac to select from their list via Chromie is still Legion or you can't go wrong with Wrath of the Lich King which is probably the most popular Xpac of them all.

And yeah, you can definitely chat with everybody but it's a blessing and a curse. Chats can get spicy and some think WoW's user base is one of the most toxic. I can't exactly disagree. Get ready for sudden outbusts about politics and religion..... (As I do everywhere, I just ignore this).

It’s all setup!

The only items left to do:

(1) Concrete+ seal around all of the brick block pillars

(2) Brick foundation around the home

(3) wood porches/steps around the doors.
(4) No grass, over budget lol. I have dirt yard! 😎 haha.

(5) Interior wood trim and finish up any Sheetrock work inside

(6) many more things needed to be done of course.

Awesome video and makes me even sadder that the best the world has seen is dead. Vince talks about why the idea of working for another company has been difficult for him... essentially a lack of innovation and commitment to being better.

Well, ASSuS received my dead Apex Encore motherboard yesterday, but they haven't updated my RMA ticket to reflect receipt of it. I hope this doesn't go like my past experiences with these retarded monkeys have gone.

If they don't take care of me I may replace it with a Tachyon. I refuse to purchase a 4-DIMM POS motherboard and it's really the only 2-DIMM alternative to the Apex/Apex Encore at this point unless I downsize to ITX. @electrosoft how is the Z90i Lightning? Any regrets? Compared to the Edge?

No regrets and better memory overclocking but like all ITX boards, even the Lightning, it will hit a power wall due to the single connector and lesser stages depending on how hard you push your CPU. Initial testing (I don't recommend this) with a dunked/chilled ID Cooling 280mm I saw it up around 400w so it can handle some juice but I'm sure those VRMs will give up the ghost sooner than later if not the power delivery but it has thee best power delivery of all Z790/Z690 ITX boards on the market (14+1) vs the others (10+1).

Tachyon looks to be a really good board. If I wasn't going ITX, it was on my consideration list.

The fine gent I purchased my SP109 had a tachyon for sale on ebay for cheap because it is missing some covers here but it looks like it finally sold today at 7:49pm.

I can't notice any difference in system performance using a SATA SSD versus NVMe in my day-to-day activities. Nothing about the experience seems different to me in normal use. I like the M.2 form factor a lot because it consumes minimal space and doesn't require power or data wiring. It's much neater and more convenient and the extra speed is kind of a nice but almost meaningless bonus. I am sure there are limited circumstances where I would notice the faster speed, but not in normal use. Maybe game loading or something like that, but I don't do that a whole lot.

yeah i hope i dont regret saying this but so far the speeds are useless. im converting 30gb sbs videos for my tablet and with transfers ect the lowest common denominator is what matters and thats the microsd transfering at 40mbs and even if im transfering to a external drive its 400mbs and for whatever strange reason just copy pasting from this drive to another folder its 600mbs...the 6700mbs is very misleading...nothing escapes the black hole of misleading data.

Same here. I really hate the gaming chairs. I have looked into different shops here home, but mostly everything they sell (the one you can try) is awful and for gamers. Maybe @Recievercould make a thread and move the replies over there.

This one below is an older post from me last year. I still haven't found something I like.

I have posted an new thread about office/gaming chairs. Please post if you have some good options. Thanks

Mounted together the new benchtable. Big enough space to fit two 2 monitors. So far so good. I have a fancy all black gaming chair but I hate it. Awful to sit in so I have put it away. I need to see if I find a new one. But it won't be a new gaming chair. Just a regular office chair who is good to sit in. Yep, I rather sit in the old black kitchen chair for now than go back to the new and modern for gaming kids, LOOL

I do think the whole GN fiasco has put them on guard and a lot of cases they were previously instructed to reject and/or attach user responsible costs are now being resolved properly.

Same with GN and Newegg.

Shady, shady practices to heighten profits versus taking care of the customer.

Well, maybe this won't have an undesirable ending like all the others before.

Edit: Nevermind found your post. Good to hear they took care of it quickly. I've personally never had an issue with Asus service. Always a quick/painless RMA with them.

I should have the Encore back in a couple of business days. Now I am wondering if there was nothing wrong with it. It will be interesting to see what is on the paperwork. My white Apex started doing the same thing. On the Encore I swapped out RAM, CPU and tried 2080 Ti and 3090 Ti and it stayed hung at the yellow debug light with Q-code 99.

Yesterday the Apex did the same thing and I could not get it to POST. I unplugged my ASUS 4K monitor (XG27UQR) and plugged in a portable 1080p HDMI screen and it booted normally. Very weird. The 4K monitor still works normally, but it seems to randomly prevent the PC from completing POST. After I got it to boot normally with the 1080p HDMI display, it boots normally connected to the 4K display.

After I discovered that I found other posts in a variety of places with people having no boot and black screens when connected to a 4K display, and it seemed to be more prevalent if it was multi-monitor (which all of my systems are).

And, so much for pointing the finger as Gigabutt. ASUS and MSI have joined the party. I think all of it is the noob that built the system and didn't properly support their crazy heavy GPU, or due to rough handling of the chassis with the GPU flopping around in the PCIe slot.
