BUT since were hyper-enthusiasts and easily get lost in our freakshow here, i asked for her advice on this. her reply: nope, if u do this now, ull regret it in a few months time, once the Suprim SOC becomes available at "ok" prices. and u know what? shes right, ill keep that card for minimum two years and gonna spend a fortune on it either way. so lets do this right... keep the search going! in any case, im just happy now i finally found a card in stock and with an "ok" price. plus im seeing more and more price drops from the scalpers on ebay. are we FINALLY holding strong, guys?!?! is this the turn of the tide? if so then I am SO of you and all of us! keep it up! 🙂 We all know with waiting we will get the tech we want at MSRP. I'm noticing 5090 cards are slowly dropping on eBay and some are languishing now at the 5k+ price point or taking longer to move. You always have to clear out that first wave of buyers who have more money than sense and will snap up those cards at almost any cost. I think the world as we know it is changing and the only rules that apply now are the ones that do not make sense. Right now is that cross over time we always encounter when old models are EOL'd and new models are scarce. As a result, even older models momentarily rise in price before falling back down. For example, a month ago, the 7900xtx could be found for $929 and lower. Now? $1300+ everywhere. Same with Nvidia. Three months ago, 4070 Supers, TIs and more all available at MSRP and sometimes on sale. Same with 4080 Supers 4 months ago. 4090's for $1500 or less easily 4+ months ago. 6 months from now, prices will plummet because the 5000 series (and 9000 series from AMD to a degree) will begin to saturate the market and older models will drop down to their proper place. Patience is the key. This is literally the third cycle in a row now I've watched this happen exactly as predicted. If you have a spare 4090, sell it now if you want maximum return on your card and then some. If you're scalping or selling your 5080/5090, now is the time to do it as all they're going to do is continue to lose value. I'm watching 5090's (especially FEs) start to languish a bit on eBay when priced closer to 6k when they were flying out the door at launch for 6k+ and more. I now see some hanging around at right around $5k and several "on sale" from their 6k range down into the upper 4k range. Or if you're happy with your Ampere and Ada cards hold onto them and just continue to enjoy them. 29 minutes ago, tps3443 said: I’m rejoining the club that first brought me to this forum originally! Since when I get back I'm breaking down my main desktop rig to rebuild with the x870e Hero with the 5080 FE, my laptop is modeled after my desktop atm and my current desktop install is officially EOL'd so when I get back I'll be living off my laptop for a few days while I make the transition before heading out again later next month. 3 Electrosoft Alpha: SP109 14900KS 59/46/50 | Asrock Z790i Lightning | Nvidia RTX 5080 FE| AC LF II 420 | TG 2x24GB 8200 | Samsung 990 Pro 2TB | EVGA 1600w P2 | Phanteks Ethroo Pro | Alienware AW3225QF 32" OLED Ellectrosoft Beta: Eurocom X15 Raptor | i9-12900k | Nvidia RTX 3070ti | HyperX 3200 CL20 32GB | Samsung 990 2TB | 15.6" 144hz | Wifi 6E Heath: i9-12900k | EVGA CLC 280 | Asus Strix Z690 D4 | Asus Strix 3080 | 32GB DDR4 2x16GB B-Die 4000 | WD Black SN850 512GB | EVGA DG-77 | Samsung G7 32" 144hz 32" My for sale items on eBay. Welcome back bro! Don't let the grumpy old men on the porch get you down. Enjoy your new portable power. What's the resolution for the mLED display? This extended road trip I'm on atm is just the beginning of a lot of travel I have this year for work and pleasure so I wanted a big screen laptop with decent power to game, work and stay connected. It is 2560x1600 which is what really sold me!! Especially the Mini LED, and 250Hz are all icing on top. These 4090 laptops aren’t the fastest machines compared to my 4090 deaktop, so I really didn’t want 4K to bog it down. Looking forward to trying it out. I also most bought a MSI GT77 Titan 13HX, it had a 13980XE/64GB DDR5/ RTX 4080. These are nice machines. But I was worried about the 12GB VRAM. I know their cooling is elite, and I love the way they look. It was $2,150 USD, and I ended up passing on it though. I really wanted a 4090. And these Titan’s with 4090’s are still too much money. 1 1 13900KF

I BOUGHT A LAPTOP, BGA JUNK REJOICE! 🤣 Okay okay. Hopefully I did okay. Acer Helios 18” 14900HX/4090/Mini LED/250Hz. I got it for $2,200 shipped. Hmm. I do not believe it can be undervolted and the miniLED panel does not have a software switch to disable FALD. I would probably opt for a Eluk Hydroc 16 which for 2600usd it would at least have a Prema bios and a much more sane control center. Or if 18 inch is really a must there used to be a Costco Raider 18 with 14900HX, 4090 and QHD+ 240hz for 2400usd. There are not a lot of good options in the laptop space. Most are pretty limited in one way or another so its very ripe with false advertising everywhere. 1 1 Desktop - Xeon W7-2495X, 64GB DDR5-6400 C32 ECC, 800GB Optane P5800X, MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC, Corsair HX1500i, Fractal Define 7 XL, Asus W790E-SAGE SE, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Clevo PE60SNE - 14900HX, 32GB DDR5-5600 CL40, 4TB WD SN850X, RTX 4070 mobile, 16.0 inch FHD+ 165hz, System76 open source firmware, Windows 10 Pro 22H2

This Helios 18 machine was only $2,000 dollars before tax. I don’t mind if it’s kinda crappy. I didn’t pay too much. 2 1 13900KF

Usually $3K+ for that. Hardware, power and thermal limitations, and disposable soldered filth excluded, the biggest issue with laptops is horrible, locked-down firmware that leaves you with muted performance and no way of correcting the issues. The CPU will likely not deliver but about half the performance of what it is capable of and the memory will likely be sloppy loose timings, high latency and uncorrectable due to no tuning options. 1 WRAITH // Z790 Apex | 14900KS | 4090 Suprim X+Byksi Block | 48GB DDR5-8600 | Toughpower 1650W | MO-RA3 360 | Hailea HC-500A || O11D XL EVO (T-Rex) BANSHEE // X670E Gene | 9950X | 4090 Gaming OC+Alphacool Block | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1200x SHIFT | XT45 1080 Nova || Antec C8 (Rhinoceros) SPECTRE // Z790i Edge | 13900KS | 3090 Ti FTW3 | 48GB DDR5-8200 | RM1000e | EK Nucleus CR360 Direct Die || Prime A21 (Rattlesnake) HALF-BREED // Precision 7720 | BGA CPU Filth | 32GB DDR4 | Quadro P5000 | 4K Display | Nothing to Write Home About (Turdbook) Mr. Fox YouTube Channel | Mr. Fox @ HWBOT The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes. tps3443
I need the new laptop for work. I’m going through operation manager training at work. And it is very difficult lately. I need something portable to move around the house. And also I really need a 2nd PC right here beside me for having other things up. Otherwise, I would not have bothered at all. I have not owned a laptop in years. We’ll see how much I hate it. But I really just need something that can run fast, that uses Windows. And this was the perfect excuse to get a 4090 laptop. 2 1 13900KF

Looks like you had some help from AI on the wording of your post. 🤣 It seems like that is happening to me more and more, and I'm not liking it even a little bit. I have actually watched Google change something I typed even though I have all that crap disabled. 19 minutes ago, Papusan said: Does it really matter? Nope. Throw some bones to their partners. For nvidia it's better continue with over priced data centers. I’d rather buy a used complete computer than support the 5090 rush. I am done searching for them. I have spent every waking moment trying to buy a 5090 since 01/30, and I’m officially just done with it. Plus I need a laptop anyways. I know things are limited nowadays with BGA and all. But, even with how upgradable desktops are, we can hardly upgrade them even if we tried lol. The desktop market has gone south real fast, I was even considering maybe a 9950X3D CPU, but I have a feeling the scalpers are warming up for that one as well so I’m not sure how long I’d actually wait to obtain that. I physically cannot buy a 5090. It’s gonna be at least a year before that is even possible. And with how negligible its performance is, I may as well wait until 6090 series is almost nearing end of its cycle so I can grab one of those. Desktop GPU’s are just toast now and completely unobtainable. They’ve been put on a gold pedestal. I really miss the old days. BB alerts removed for 5090. I’m keeping my 4090. Also I realized at least with a laptop, the garbage is in-stock. 🤣 1 1 1 13900KF
