aww why are u joking? DO IT 😄

when at first i got my TX1600 ATX2.4 version I was wondering to myself if i should later upgrade to the ATX3.1 version. i am sooo glad that i didnt.  all 8pin goodness on the PSU side, enough wattage for two 12v2x6 connectors, super quiet and efficient and 12 years (or rather 10 left) of warranty. will not need another psu for a long time!

i have a wattmeter permanently hooked up to my rig and the highest ive seen thus far was 1125W or 70% of stock psu capacity. i think ill be good even with a 5090 and a 9950X3D in there 🙂

Yeah I ended up sticking with my 1600w P2 EVGA PSU. Just a workhorse and 4 GPUs in a row with no coil whine. I have no problems running the tentacles at all for my cards and the PSU itself is crazy quiet.

The MSI AI1300P 1300W PSU is in my test rig that I was originally going to switch to but I'm good. Couldn't pass up that open box $142  from MSI open box warehouse special!

I also have an EVGA P2 850W  and G2 850W on the shelf.

Wife is still running Seasonic Focus 1000w.

NVIDIA and AMD need to start building everything in the US. Our industries are falling in line and going according to plan. Would LOVE to see that happen to the China manufacturer scum.

Maybe we will see something in +2030.

Hall OF Fame is back. But with D dubbed cards for China. Mr Jensen know how to go around the US sanctions. And he will make sure he get chips for the Global market at lowest costs. New chips production in US will cost a hell lot more than from Asia. So forget getting cheaper chips/graphics cards. And China... They will continue get western made tech. In one or another way. This won't stop them. The China market is far too important for Western technology companies. Greed knows no borders. And corruption into this greedy mix is an disease you can't cure

And disgusting Russia, they do as China can best... Russia sees tech boom amid sanctions

you pay extra for the better cooling and bling bling... $500+ extra for the mentioned above MSRP is disgusting.

Id be running that MSI 1300w over the EVGA 1600w any day, smaller and could probably pull down the same juice without breaking a sweat. That’s just my opinion. My MSI 1KW with the single 2x6 Gen 5.1 connector has been one of the best PSU’s I’ve ever owned, the fact that it has been powering a w3175X/Doninus Extreme/ 192GB DDR4/ 5 pumps/ RTX 4090 with 666w bios Is a miracle. This is a system with 2x24 pins meant for (2) power supplies. It has always stayed silent and never batted an eye to this system, it’s a much smaller unit than I’d typically run but that just goes to show how good the unit has been. Just my system ram consumes 120 watts under heavy loads 🤣  Both my EVGA power supplies were noisy and sub par. Maybe the 1600w models were built to different standards. But my EVGA models also had that big fat C19 style power plug too. I’m still using one of them in my son’s build but even with his RTX 3060/12900KS we hear the coil whine sometimes. Lately the random power offs have been occurring and I’m worried this 2nd EVGA unit is on its way out. I’ve never owned a EVGA 1600w, so I cannot speak on those units. Maybe they are good.

My white Lian Li 1200w Edge Gold will be here tomorrow, I hope it’s as good or better than the MSI PSU. 😁

If it ain't broke......

This P2 1600w has given me zero problems, and while correlation is not causation, every GPU I've tossed up against it has had low to zero coil whine and the PSU itself is dead quiet and runs crazy cool.

I like the MSI, but there is no compelling reason to swap out especially since I only run tentacles because I don't care about aesthetics which is really the only reason NOT to use the included tentacles with your given card. It also gives you a layer of protection if the card catches fire. It is their included tentacle with their card not a 3rd party excuse.

Really, zero reason to switch over. A solution looking for a problem. 🙂

I can't even remove it once inserted on my gigabyte windforce 4070S OC GPU on ATX 3 PSU MSI ABN. Its just too tight. It was scary for me coming from 6+2 cables which were easy to remove and route.

You were able to get 9070XT at MRP? In India 9070 and XT are at 929 and 964$. I got 4070S last month at 800$ and its still higher by 100-200$ on WIndforce OC in March 2025. Asus, MSI are crossing over 1000$ for 4070S & 4070S Ti. Blackwell stocks are vaporware and even local distributors were unaware.

The whole thing is just stupid. There is and was no reason for NVIDIA to deploy this garbage connector. To see two AMD AIB partners using it on Radeon cards merely reinforces that the people making decisions are inept and incompetent and shouldn't even be allowed to decide what to eat for dinner. Their inability to make sound decisions places us all at risk.

This is an extremely bad time for anyone needing to build a new system or replace any parts that have failed outside of warranty. I feel very blessed to not have any compelling need to do anything and with my surplus I don't have to manage anything except for my illogical passionate for computer parts. I think I am going to start trying harder to not care anymore. A better hobby might be growing personal wealth instead of squandering it on poorly engineered overpriced computer trash. I can feel the apathy starting to build. It's not to the level of contempt and apathy I hold for turdbooks, but I could probably get it to that level without a lot of effort.

Yep. I'm trying out my long time passion of using eGPU with desktop GPU and didn't wanna buy another 3000-4000$ laptop and instead went with thinkpad P14 with USB4 support. The GPU fans are not running at all even with 50+ videos waiting to be encoded with h265 and Av1 on FHD-QHD. On 4k it starts to choke on longer video. Then again, DLSS 4 transformer image preset caused significant power reduction from 180W to 100W and even more efficient than 980M and super cool from the factory paste and pads at 84C on memory and 60C on GPU core at an ambient temp of 40C.

Laptop GPU power isn't enough for me anymore.

Those of us that wanted (or bought and had orders cancelled) may have dodged a bullet. Imagine paying $1200 for a $600 GPU and discovering that it sucks at overclocking. You get wallet effed and effed on a castrated part that is not satisfying to own.

I do not like Red Devil GPUs. They are too tacky-looking to me, like the ASRock cards. I would only want something like one of the XFX Mercury and other models that are more nondescript aesthetically, like the ASUS Prime.

Wow. Something new and it looks pretty crazy. Up to 384GB of VRAM that is upgradable.

£560 here in the UK on launch day (so $600 equivalent after taxes) but it took a fair amount of effort.

I think the Reaper looks very good. I find it more aesthetically appealing than the other PowerColor models. It is PowerColor's version of the XFX Swift. The boost clock on both of them is lower and power limits are 36W less than some of the alternatives and I don't know if cross-flashing is going to work for AMD. (It has been difficult or impossible to cross-flash or mod AMD GPU firmware.) The software tools that I had to use on the 6900 XT to extract everything it had to offer was annoying and terribly clunky and inconvenient.

I guess it depends what you want really, it's not an XOC model for sure, but that last 30-40W the other models is not a huge difference. This way I get the vast majority of the performance in something that I can keep the same case with.

@Papusan I’m selling my 4090 for $500 bucks and snatching a 5070 ASAP! 🥴

What I am doing is putting a waterblock on my RTX 4090. I just ordered one of those Optimus ultra soft 3mm Fujipoly rear full cover thermal pads. These pads are like a god send to any GPU. It’s truly a miracle what happens when we cover our whole GPU backside with a thermal pads.

And more build pics!! I have discovered that when you use hard tubing, each piece to connect a component is like specially crafting a single pipe to a custom fit. The process takes the longest. Bending, Cutting, beveling the edges. It’s a process! But when you get it just right, it’s very rewarding!

I’m excited to upgrade my 4090 laptop and 4090 desktop GPU once the 5090 laptop and 5090 desktop parts Are no longer interesting to the whole world. 😀

These companies AMD and Nvidia are so shady and extremely greedy.

This.

Except maybe the laptop. I will probably skip till 6000 series.

GPU? MSRP only and really I'm locked into an 5090FE for the price or an Asus if I feel stupid and silly with my $$$ plus it will match my MB.

@Papusan I’m selling my 4090 for $500 bucks and snatching a 5070 ASAP! 🥴

They would grab all 4090's they can get. And Chinese tech companies will just send an email to Jensen asking for more vram packages (almost as Jensen can sell the xx90 two times). 4090 will have 96GB vram and good to go for AI tasks. Cheaper than comming Blackwell with same amount ram for close to $15.000.

Being able to directly hook up all of our fans, and pumps, and USB 2.0 devices directly to our Power supply is a thing of MAGIC!!!

Nope. This below has to be the magic with that PSU. The 8 pin to 12V-2x6 cable😁 A lot better solution than offering two native 12V-2x6 connectors on the PSU panel. More PSU manufacturers should offer the same. I hope you  find one in the package.
