That’s not that bad then. Are you going to sell your HOF?

Yep, not bad when we see how the prices are in other places around the world. Still, awful pricey.

Not sure I want that. I'm an collector of rare cards. I would prefer to keep it. And never dumb have a newer card as spare. And I won't get a better card if I need more than the 5090. Put it this way... Buy two 5090's won't happen 🙂

Are you swapping from the 9950X to a 9950X3D?

No. I have no interest in X3D. It's of zero value to me. The only thing that would make it interesting to me is if all or most of them have higher overclocking headroom and less disparity between CCD silicon quality. I'd go for one if that were true, but I don't give a hoot about the gaming cache thing. I'd consider paying $200 more for a 9950X3D to gain an average of 10 to 20 FPS on a system already gaming well over 100 FPS to be a frivolous waste of my money and a benefit I would seldom use. Unfortunately, the X3D chips are clock-blocked like all the others. Your max functional core ratio is more or less what the Red Team Nazi dictatorship decides it is going to be before the product is released to manufacturing.

Well, this generation is probably one of the few where not upgrading is the smart move. If it wouldn’t had been for Nvidia handing me a 5090 through their gamer priority access which is already too high at $1999. I had completely given up on the concept of upgrading and was going to be content with my 4090.

Hopefully you find a 5090 for a better deal than here in the USA though. Everything is seriously overpriced EVERYTHING. Intel ARC B580’s are selling for $350+ maybe even $400.

I listed my Intel B580 Steel Legend OC and originally started at $200 dollars shipped. Minimal interest, and then I bumped it to $250 and sold it right away after changing the price.

They did think I was a scammer. Great point. And I typically do want PayPal F&F. ALWAYS. lol.

After I sold the GPU and accepted payment from someone else, they were reaching out to me trying to see if I’d accept a PayPal F&F payment on a GPU that was already marked sold. (two different people did this) I think they were just playing with me or something at that point. I’d never do that.

I am not sure of the venue where you sold it, but if it was overclock.net marketplace I could see people being wary of scammers because there were some hacked accounts where scammers were coming out of the woodwork recently. I remember one guy whose account got hacked had 4 or 5 RTX 4090 being offered for a suspiciously low price. It is generally a very trustworthy group of people to trade with apart from those examples.

So these two guys thought I was a scammer apparently so I’m gifting an RTX 3060 12GB to this guy. I’m only doing this because my son is getting upgraded to an RTX 3090FE anyways. HUGE upgrade for him, and giving the RTX 3060 12GB really passes along the good will. I feel terrible for this “Nanoscale” guy because he was recently scammed by one of those RTX 4090 FS threads that you are referring to. It’s very unfortunate.

This is the thread I’m taking about.

As expected. The elite and chosen ones (their friends) will get whatever they need. And for free. Weird nvidia didn't stop cross-flashing bios between the different SKUs and brands. That will be the next on the "to do list"... And I'm sure the AIB partners would love that coming from Nvidia, faster the better.

Pictures speak louder than words... And this is the reality. Ugly = Disgusting.

This is the world we live in now. It has been this way for a few years now, but progressively getting worse. This is one of the reasons EVGA told NVIDIA to kiss their butt. It sucks that my/our interest in overclocking is being systematically killed by idiocy like this. They are making it all about them and no longer a mutually amicable relationship. Charging extremely high prices for basically crippled products with manufacturer-controlled results is an unforgivable sin and treachery. This deals a death blow to the overclocking sport. That death blow reciprocates by way of me no longer having a desire to purchase their functionally-limited products. Having my results (or lack thereof) predetermined and metered to the level of their choosing is unacceptable. Bestowing special privileges to a select small group of individuals and excluding all others based on an arbitrary decision by NVIDIA and/or their AIB cartel partners generates great malice, an enormous sense of contempt and an overall lack of respect or regard for the well-being and financial solvency of their companies. If I cannot benefit from their existence on my terms, their existence no longer matters to me and my preference would be that they cease to exist.

Sometimes. Not always, and almost never when the leak is still relevant or useful. Usually when nobody cares anymore and only when peasants are excited about owning obsolete products.  More and more it is gravitating toward never. You have the AIBs playing favorites as well as their tiny group of predestined beneficiaries that want to insultate themselves from having to compete with aspiring overclockers. This is organized cheating and deceptive orchestration of publicity stunts. I hate to say it, but what we see on HWBOT is all staged and rigged results that are achieved only by select individuals. Legitimate competition is generally absent and not even possible now. It makes it difficult to even care at this point.

MSI has no plans to release any Radeon RDNA 4 graphics cards. Maybe the more realistic and acceptable pricing thresholds for Radeon cards doesn't offer enough profit margin or a large enough cushion for compulsive overpricing to fit MSIs need for greed. There is also the possibility that too many people buying AMD video cards are inclined to be self-governed based on a realistic value proposition rather than driven by irrational passion. Scalping AMD cards is likely less of a succesful endeaver for the same reason. Whether the GPUs are better or worse holds less meaning than offering an acceptable price-to-performance value proposition.

https://overclock3d.net/news/gpu-displays/msi-is-skipping-amds-radeon-rx-9070-series/

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 series has been released, and it has been a highly successful launch for AMD. However, one brand was notably missing from AMD’s RX 9070 series lineup. Where is MSI? Will there ever be MSI RX 9070 series GPUs?

In a statement to Tom’s Hardware, MSI has reconfirmed that they will not be making any AMD RDNA 4 graphics cards. When it comes to GPUs, MSI’s focus is on Nvidia and its GeForce RTX series GPUs. MSI will remain an AMD partner, but that partnership doesn’t currently extend to AMD’s Radeon GPU lineup.

Quote

Regarding your question, MSI is not manufacturing AMD GPUs this generation.

The worst part. Fab clockers (elite) share the firmware and special sauce software with their friends that isn't approved to get it. Even HW sharing (not allowed) is more the normal than not.

As posted before....Third, and perhaps most importantly, the rule change opens a backdoor where every motherboard manufacturer can now provide its sponsored overclockers with a special, tweaked BIOS, which doesn't have to be public at the time of use. Only at the end of the stage, when the best results are uploaded, does the BIOS have to be available in the forum thread.

This means that all other participants who aren't sponsored by motherboard manufacturers and only have access to public BIOS versions will never get the chance to use this much better BIOS for the competition stage. Many of us tried to explain this issue to the moderators several times, but were dismissed as overly dramatic and lazy.

Depends on how they implemented it this time with software tied directly to specific vBIOS it is quite easy to make individualized signed vBIOS and software that will only work with specific cards. Any leak would be able to be traced back to the original XOC'er and they wouldn't want to take a chance of that assuming the combo could be flashed onto generic same AIB cards vs embedded serial #s.

I'm hoping they didn't go into super lockdown mode 2.0, but the fact the software is tied directly to the vbios has me thinking the GPU is then authenticated like a dongle to the combo somehow.

For those who simply want to PnP and use the best? The continual lock down of overclocking means nothing to them unfortunately and they are the vast majority.

Well, there is tiers to competition now. Accepting you are not an XOC'er, I guess you compete in the B-tier now amongst the rest of everyone else without it. It isn't as if you don't have competition to compete against. You're just not an XOC'er level competitor.

I don't like to see special tweaks and vBIOS's being restricted, but I understand too. The competition is fierce and I remember watching some of those last videos from KP where they had binned 4090 GPU dies they would solder onto tweaked boards with binned memory and their XOC vBIOS's to compete with LN and more. It is another tier above all of us so we gotta stop acting like if we had access to the vBIOS's suddenly we would be competing. We would not. We would do BETTER but not in their league....

.....doesn't mean I don't want access to it though. 😞

The writing was on the wall last gen when they greatly scaled down their AMD offerings mid cycle with the 7000 series and EOL'd their 7900xtx gaming card well before the end of the cycle. I wonder what their reasons are too. Maybe one headache with Nvidia is enough and the marketshare is so much larger and scalping/pricing is in such flux they can make much more there than with AMD who we have found out is just as rigid as Nvidia and even moreso in some areas?

Their pricing is getting outlandish too as we see with their GPUs, "bundles" and laptop pricing has gone through the roof asking $6k for the Titan and $4.9k for the Raider. I'm a bit sour on MSI at the minute because I used to consider them "the better Asus" in the realm of gaming/enthusiasts. Instead, they have jacked up all their prices including their "bottom tier" Ventus series.

MSI is now getting into the act only offering their cards in bundle deals directly on their site. $3900+tax for their liquid 5090 + their 32" OLED.... craptastic bundles direct from the AIBs now...yay.

gross.
