STATE OF THE GPU MARKET

-------------------------------------

Still waiting on Nvidia and their "big drops!" outside of 5070s, 5070tis and 5080's which have my stock watchers chiming so much I had to mute them. 9070xt's drop fairly regular too daily but sell out instantly.

5070's stay in stock for long stretches especially the stupidly priced models. For example, shipped and sold by Newegg Zotac 5070 for $949.99.

5070ti shipped and sold by Newegg for $1039 and $1099 both Asus models.

5080 "bundles" on Newegg only thing available atm for $1770 (MSI) and $1945 (ASUS)

All 9070xt sold out at Newegg.

Even that $6k Astral bundle that lasted 3 days eventually sold out.

Haven't seen a sniff of the Newegg Shuffle recently.

NO Nvidia VPA RTX 5090 drops since March 25th and almost two months since Best Buy (I think BB is DOA for 5090 Founders). Probably holding back while price adjustments will be coming in for the tariffs.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 5080 FE jump to $1199.99 and 5090 FE jump to $2399.99.

Watching my stock bots over the last week or two and you barely get any alarms for 5090s while when I check in the morning, the 9070xt is usually anywhere from 20-40 notifications but they always sell out indicating small batches and scalpers still on them.

Best Buy had *1* drop in the last week and it was for a Gigabyte Waterforce 5090 that was gone before I could even add to basket.

Last Newegg 5090 drop (non combo) was 3/20 for a TUF 5090

Last MSI Store 5090 drop (combo) was 3/29

Last Best Buy drop 5090 was 4/8 (Waterforce)

Almost every 5090 drop when they do show up is usually Amazon

I flat out don't trust Amazon and their constant dings and prices fluctuating all over the place. You follow them up and it is always some 3rd party seller most shady others names we know that are gouging like crazy (Platinum Micro and Hidevolution for starters).

Shipped and sold by Amazon for Prime members but look at that price plus a two week+ lead time...

It will take them a couple of weeks to find a freight container or semi-trailer full of GPUs to steal before they have stock available. Don't be so impatient.  😉

i dont get it....first @johnksss input on the dire 5090 situation in the US and now urs. prices are still dropping here in europe, ive even started seeing several shops list the Suprim at "acceptable" prices (i.e. within my preset budgeting limits). stock lasts for days, if not weeks in multiple cases. u can basically go and get a 5090 any time u want from reputable shops and even if u want a specific model ull hardly have to wait a day or two to get it in stock somewhere.

why this imbalance?

The tariff mess. You never know what will come next day or next week in US. Better ship the cards to Asia and Europe. I'm sure China get what they want. And not only 5090D cards.

Are 5090 prices fully back to MSRP? One thing I will say in the US is pre-built 5090 systems are deeply in stock now at Newegg and the one or two models Microcenter sells also routinely pop up with a few in stock across their stores. No longer lucrative to scalpers to yank the cards for resale....

Pretty much what @Papusan posted.

The Tariffs and ever in flux economic status of the US right now has caused many companies to pause pre-orders or not ship stock while they try to figure out where this is going to end.

Every country on that tariff list, even with the pause, is still subject to a minimum 10% tariff.

China is still fully under the 145% tariff and they are not backing down so the US might as well settle in for a protracted economical war. Someone has to blink. At least China didn't retaliate past 125% basically saying at this point, "this is getting stupid." 🤣

Prices are going to go up because of the tariffs. A few estimates are looking at ~$4k/yr increase in cost per house hold on average (+/- 10%) due to this economic war. $4k isn't much to many of us, but for ~50% of the country that lives paycheck to paycheck? Of course a large chunk of that $4k per household indirectly goes right into the government's till via the tariff tax.

For tech, one bright spot (thank you Apple and google) is that smart phones and computers are exempt from the 154% tariff but still subject to the original 20% tariff.

For the time being, it makes most sense to just ship Nvidia cards everywhere else that are much more price stable than the US at the moment.

I guess this is what it felt like to be in the EU all those years with your high priced tech. 🤣

Distro plates carry vibration pretty bad, much worse than any dual pump top made of dense nylon or Pom material. Especially at 100% RPM, these distro plates act like a vibration amplifier. What I did was I put these rubber washers on my distro and it still had not removed all the vibration. It helped a little. But I think the rubber is too firm. And I need some ultra soft rubber washers. I can feel the vibrations through my mousepad in to my mouse. 😂

To give you an idea of drop ratios of 5090 vs 5080/9070xt, this is the recent snap shot from one of the stock trackers I follow for USA:

Nvidiadropslast12hrs.jpg.dfb15efd3c5a0dc01171381dfb8966d0.jpg

The bulk of these drops are disproportionately skewed Amazon (like 90%) including both 5090 drops which were for a TUF for $2999.99 and an Astral for $3359.99.

If anyone didn’t know. This is hands down the highest performing thermal paste I’ve ever used for the lowest price possible. It performs like Kryonaut Extreme pink paste. But this stuff spreads easier and is only $3 dollars per gram 😁

Don’t tell anyone! It’s only $5.99 on Amazon. Their newer stuff cannot compete with this stuff.

He like the color😁 Remember he compared with the pinky Kryo Extreme. The paste with the prettiest color win. And cheaper help as well😂

Paste Cooler Master Cryofuze 5 Violet / Purple

Only average-performing paste with lower durability, not suitable for graphics cards in long- or mid-term operation. Attention: Paste is bleeding out

I test many thermal paste. You just have to take my word on it. It’s VERY good! Color has nothing to do with it. Their newer paste is garbage and a gimmick.

The link I originally posted is the original CryoFuze with a 14Wmk thermal conductivity. The stuff @papusan shared is CryoFuse 5 which is lower thermal conductivity/more expensive/ and they started trying to sell different colors as a gimmick for more money and scam people 😂. They also have some CryoFuze 7 which still isn’t as good as this one.

I discovered this paste when I first ran LGA1700. It really works well. It performs with the best.

@electrosoft The paste I shared is not CryoFuze Violet, it’s not CryoFuze 5, and it’s not CryoFuze 7. It’s specifically called “CryoFuze” and it’s the 14W/mk stuff which as far as I know will probably be discontinued. It is unbeatable for $5.81 for 2 grams.

Oh, the paste is gray in color @Papusan 😁 lol

The GPU Market in 2025 – A Cynical Glimpse into Silicon, Speculation, and Manufactured Needs

What remains is the sober realization that the GPU market has reached a point where technical curiosity is increasingly replaced by financial frustration. I think Coolermaster believes that color matters for making money lol, which is why they are selling all of these other gimmicky thermal paste like “CryoFuze Violet/red/white/black/blue” This paste just works good though. Dirt cheap and high very performance. It can match Kryonaut Extreme and go toe to toe.

How does the Cryofuze compare to Phobya Nanogrease Extreme? Are they about the same? Phobya Nanogrease Extreme is the only paste I've been able to use in laptops without it pumping out.

The power with Nanogrease and laptops is the fact it is so thick and doesn't pump out. It is all I use unless I can correct the pairing pressure enough to use KPx.

My vial will arrive tomorrow, so I'll see how thick it is.

Are 5090 prices fully back to MSRP? One thing I will say in the US is pre-built 5090 systems are deeply in stock now at Newegg and the one or two models Microcenter sells also routinely pop up with a few in stock across their stores. No longer lucrative to scalpers to yank the cards for resale....

well...depends how u define "MSRP" 😄 getting a card at the 2229€ current FE MSRP would still be very difficult. but at 2800-2900€ no issue whatsoever, so were talking roughly 25-30% above FE MSRP. i.e. comparable to 2500-2600 USD without tax.

Let me rephrase it. 🙂

Are prices now the same across the board with AIBs as they were at launch or did prices go up officially for AIB MSRP pricing too over the last few months like they did in the US?

I’ve only used this paste on the IHS, and it has done amazing for that. You’ll have to test it and see. I know Kryonaut Extreme cannot be used on die, it all just pushes right off the die it’s the oddest thing lol. I will probably redo my laptop paste again with this stuff, and see if it works. But I’m waiting on my thermal putty to show up.

Ditto, I plan on testing it on one of my several laptops to see what it can do along with this desktop I'm building out from spare parts to sell and clear space (12900k, 32GB DDR5, 500GB SSD, 3080) for testing.

Cheapest shop if you can get a card on the hook (I did). They run empthy within 2 minutes for each new batch cards.

5090 TUF ~ $2163

5090 TUF OC ~ $2534
5090 Astral OC  ~ $2805
5090 Astral OC LC ~ $2954

The second biggest retail shop here home that offer cards (and still have them in stock but at +500$ above the cheapest shop). I expect this is the reason they still can't get rid of the cards. Prices have been like this since launch. Aka +- a few dollars.

The 24 Astral OC LC I talked about that was in stock a few days ago have now sinked to 19 units. Not easy to get rid of if the expensive Asus cards if the shop want extra for them.

We have had campaigns right after launch with maybe $100 discount on a few Asus flagship cards due the high launch prices. But not anymore.

Edit. FYI. Asus 5080 Astral OC is $1551,66 right now. And in stock in the cheapest shop.

Don't forget the sticker😁

So far, the Lian Li 1200W Edge Gold is holding up great. 12v rail never drops below 12v EVER with the RTX5090FE.  Three runs with Steel Nomad.  Memory is at +3,000 on my 5090.

I also want to touch on memory temps. Because I think the memory temps are really good with the Dinky FE model. Even overclocked, and auto fan, it stays at 80c or less during long term gaming inside a closed case. If you run the memory stock it will run at 72-74c.

I'm sure the big AIB cards may do better than this, but its not an issue on the dinky FE model. 🙂

Close to $1500 USD extra doesn't bring much extra. Only a much deeper hole in your wallet. And the cheapo sag bracket and the kids ruler with golden paint that come in the Asus box give you zero value.

And yet we all bought the overpriced editions to get that little bit of ooomph!!! You too @Papusan...... 🤣

At a certain point, it isn't about cost. It is about getting a model you want based upon your criteria.

FE = Suprim = Astral to me in regards to desire regardless of price.
