Yup, for US. Not here. Maybe the tariff war force people re-think what they buy. At least they can return it within the return window. 

 

Edit. Not great time spend a lots of money you don't have. Damn sad see the direction it heads... I have seen the middle class in US will get 1% lower taxes from the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’. Some even less. But above $200.000 and you may get 4% less tax. The winners is as always the rich that don't need to return what they already bought.

 

+10% tariffs and increased inflation from it on top of that are hard to bear/swallow. 1-3% less tax won't help much to lower the pain. The best pain-killer is as always to return what you shouldn't buy in first place. And hope you get back your money.

The rumour is this month and last month is a price lul with stock brought in before tariffs, then as that dries up as we go into back to school and christmas prices will rise again and could a fair amount.

Running with -75mV and default power limits I still see 90+ on temps running benchmarks or playing games. I've stopped using mine until I can buy a waterblock for it. If they are overpriced then I will probably sell it. It blows more hot air than I would like and the temps are much higher than I want them to be.

Yup, it seems July is the month you see the bottom of the prices. Then they will creep upwards.

NVIDIA has been busy with its AI chips in a world with rapidly increasing demand, to quench the thirst of heavily invested tech corporations. And as such, it may further reduce GeForce RTX 50 series GPU production to focus even more on its more profitable data center products.

 

How much of a reduction are we talking about? As spotted on Gazlog/Chiphell by WCCFTECH, its said total inventory levels may decrease by as much as 30%, which can mean higher prices are likely here to stay for the foreseeable future. Assuming the report is accurate, of course.

This has an immediate impact . Through software, Chinese companies can restart stalled projects , improve existing designs, and plan new chips competitively.

 

I said it before and I'll say it again.

 

It makes no difference.

 

Prices keep dropping because no one is buying. Prices can creep up and a large margin of buyers will still not buy. Nvidia can cut supply and again no one is still buying at these prices. Those who had the deep pockets and/or early adopters have bought already. The first 2-4 months were always going to be shortage based and AIBs sure took advantage of it.

 

Supply and demand needs the demand side to cooperate at that certain price point and clearly many are not buying at the several rounds of price cuts we've already had.

 

Eventually prices will drop to a point where those who are interested enough at a certain price point will decide to pick one up but we're not quite there yet for many of the cards.

 

I tend to monitor which cards sell out pretty quick versus those which languish. Top tier brands are holding somewhat strong with their top end models, but the mid and lower tier brands  or top tier brands with their mid and lower tier models are dropping prices on the regular.

 

It's like somebody offering that proverbial sports car for $500k and slashing it over and over on the regular. Eventually someone will deem the price acceptable and buy it. Kind of like a Dutch auction.

And be you sure. Nvidia know it. Why produce more parts for cards that no one will buy? Just cut the production. The production capacity can be used for more profitable products than "cheap" 5090's.

Yup. And when empty what then? Why should nvidia produce even more 5090s when they can use the wafers other places? Just produce after demand. Shipping takes time, and maybe Nvidia has produced what they can deliver to come ahead of the tariff hell "if it happens". Afterwards... Nobody really knows. But Nvidia is known for making money. Not for welfare.

So, I have had the most difficult time imaginable installing Linux on the X870E platform. It seems like none of the Linux developers have AMD's most current platform and haven't given it enough effort. Most distros are broken and installation fails at the point of installing the boatloader. I even removed all other OS drives thinking maybe Micro$lop was interfering by blocking access to the EFI partition, but that was not it. I tried numerous Arch, Ubuntu and Debian derivatives and all ended with the same error. I finally got Zorin installed after 2 days of farting around with failures on both the ASUS and Gigabyte mobos. I tried GRUB, systemd and rEFInd bootloaders on each distro and tried different SSDs. All failed during the installing the boatloader. Very weird. I guess that is one of the compromises when stuff is free. I'm using a USB ethernet adapter because the onboard NIC and WiFi are not supported.

@Mr. Fox I finally fixed the Ryzen slow CPU issue. Today I thought I'd give the battery a rundown since its been raining heavily and guess what it was slower than my Pentium 2020M to login and task manager took 2 mins to open and it was the dreaded stuck clock freq at 0.70 GHz.

 

With great difficult I tried to record the things using snipping tool and it crashed after few seconds. Waited for OBS to open and hit record which felt like several centuries passed by. Dreaded Stuck Clocks were eventually fixed by a reboot. I did some digging and it seems Lenovo had a botched BIOS update 1.13 and I upgraded to latest version which increased core to core latency, mem latency etc. I had to use windows update history and Windows Update minitool to download good BIOS version 1.11 approved by MSFT along with EC 1.06. Defender blocked it and I had to disable rollback prevention and unblock the BIOS driver file insydeBIOS. Flashed it and went to AIDA64 on sergei strelec to see any improvements in cache and temps. Memory latency dropped from 100ns to 94.5ns, memory write is back to 83GBps with Read/Copy still at 64GBps on 2x16GB Crucial DDR5 SODIMM 5600 19-19-19-45 Quad Channel and best part is AGESA 1.1 was released years ago and noticed 5-10C thermal reduction because IMC wasn't working that hard in AIDA64 Stability tests. The latest BIOS 1.14 has AGESA 1.2.0 from June 2024. AGESA 1.2 was too slow

 

I thought lenovo included the security vulnerability with AGESA 1.2.0.3.x. There is lack of tools from Ryzen/AMD to debug things. I think I'd stick with Intel due to better tools from community and ability to overwrite uCodes using VMWare patcher. Even on Linux idle temps were high and full load temps were much lower than Win 11 with Fedora/Bazzite Nvidia ISO 55C idle and 70C on full load using stress-ng with peaks to 80C.

welp...as usual the devil is in the details. since jay was only applying it to 3DMark, yeah sure, itll give u better scores on intel systems as he stated. but lots of people will over-generalize this and apply it for everything. then big surprise, some apps n games will actually give u lower perf with it enabled 😄 

thats the big prob nowadays, everything is just painted in black n white, while most of the time the reality is in gazillion shades of grey...#itdepends 😛

Hmmm. I mean he should have tested with 5000 series cards as the 5090. They perform slight different vs 4000 series in some benchmarks with RBar enabled/disabled. Both wrong and both right🙂

There will still be trade between US and China. But China's own population will buy more and more own home made products. Same as with US. They prefer have production for what they need by themself. If they can't, they'll always find ways around the problems.
