The part you are missing and what is frequently maliciously misreported by the media is the fact that appointed Federal JUDGES are the problem even more than the government. They try to reinvent and distort or negate the law based on personal bias rather than enforcing the law as written. Most of them are extreme left lunatics. If you really pay attention it was the Federal Trade Commission (government) rules that the libiotic judge tossed out. I am not saying that the government is good. Nobody has a "good" government because they do not exist. But, government(s) are becoming occuppied by imbeciles like the judges. They want to mandate immorality, corruption and lawlessness. Our government was built on the concept of being of, by and for the people. I wouldn't say crazy, only too narrowly focused on an element that is not entirely on point. Seven or eight years, even ten, is just not good enough when a high percentage of the GPU family is still in active daily use by millions of people. It requires almost no effort to maintain drivers for the older hardware. It is largely a few lines of code in an .INF file. My take om this. Consumers will always come second or last. Big business can continue as usual as long the government administration is filled with billionaires, millioners, corruption and greed. And worse it will be. Be  you sure. If they wanted they could make it easier for the paying consumers. Why do you think Nvidia can continue as they do and go outside the US chip ban? Kindness from the overlords or the king? Nope. Corruption all over the line. Yep, throw the citizens they serve under the bus. And nothing will be better. The human race has many wicked people. We are born wicked and have to learn how to behave and be trained to be the opposite of wicked. Many are taught wrong from birth. Some are not taught at all and are incapable of even recognizing how corrupt they are. Governments are composed of many corrupt individuals and collectively reflect a prevailing tendency to do selfish and wicked things more than good things. But for that predisposition of human beings to do the wrong thing and act in wicked ways I would say that anarchy is the better way. But, we are affected enough by wicked people that anarchy will not work. The wicked are not a minority. Businesses are run much like governments, but their leaders are mostly appointed rather than selected by the people their leadership affects, and held less accountable for their wickedness.

It's true. How long it will last nobody knows. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Intel found out. I think NVIDIA is whole lot more dishonest and sketchy than Intel ever thought about being. None of these big tech companies are worthy of our trust or confidence. They'll all screw us over if given an opportunity. If it is not predatory pricing and shady dealings, shoddy support and warranty service, it is stealing our information, stockpiling it insecurely, sharing it with "partners" and creating vulnerabilities that place us all at risk for identity theft with data breaches.

Yeah Intel was being dumb. They were not innovative at all. Releasing terrible re-hashed products. And slowly losing bit by bit for years to AMD, seems like they literally let AMD catch up to them slowly over the period since 2017 when Ryzen first hit the streets. They lost the multithreaded crown first, (They still were not worried) then they lost the IPC crown. When the 10900K launched I knew it was gonna be over pretty soon. AMD now sells the most expensive crazy powerful CPU’s you can imagine. Their new Threadripper line-up is amazing! And they’ve been good for some years now. 

 

The one thing Nvidia is doing is they are innovating though. The 5090FE is innovation. High quality GPU I thought when I took mine apart. Their factory Liquid metal setup is top notch, incredible cooler solution, we need this on every GPU, cooling 600 watts on a real 2 slot cooler, the 4090 Asus Matrix failed terribly with factory Liquid Metal. The GPU’s are getting faster and killing it at the forefront performance wise. Even last gen 4090 is still the king compared to other brands. 

 

Biggest problem is pricing and popularity. It makes it so tough to buy brand new released products when everyone else wants one. It’s a businesses best friend though. And they’ve now grown to #1 richest company in the world. No competition is also very unfortunate. 
 

I do not want to see prices rise again on GPU’s. I hope they don’t because no way I can afford something like a RTX PRO 6000, and I feel like we’re headed that pricing direction.

Pompous, over-confident and dismissive. Like the story of the tortoise and the hare. They felt they didn't need to try, and for a long time they didn't. I can see NVIDIA experiencing the same bump in the road. Their arrogance is truly stupefying, and matched only by their greed and lack of regard for the people that purchase their products. They are reaching a point of being so expensive that smart people won't be able find enough value in their products to justify the cost. I'm already leaning that way pretty hard. The family is taking a road over the next couple of weeks and my wife asked about something we could use to enjoy WoW to do collectors bounty and other relatively non-demanding things while driving.

 

So first we look at some windows handhelds that are on sale for under $1000. But then we remembered about her Zbook X2 G4 2-in-1 tablet which does have a low power Quadro M620 GPU. Got it up and going after clearing up some space:

 

 

Its pretty decent in the old raids at lowest settings (but view distance medium so flying around is not miserable). Unfortunately our config has the 7500U dual core, and while the memory is modular it only has 8GB in it right now which is pretty tight for just WoW. The SSD is also modular so I would want to put 1-2TB into it if I go through the process of removing the display and mobo to get access to everything.

 

Running around dornogal doing profession dailies smoothed out a bit after switching to dedicated only mode. It tanks battery life but the 90W power brick should be fine to use in our car. The next trick will be to get the ConsolePort addon installed and a controller setup without messing our regular keybinds.

Those judges were appointed by Bush and Trump and the republican members of the FTC voted against it. The 8th circuit is predominantly republican IIRC.

 

The rulings of those judges have notably been anti LGBT, anti union and on the whole conservative leaning.

So very strongly right leaning in this case.

You are mistaken or have been provided with wrong information. The vast majority of Federal Judges are extreme left and totally out of touch with mainstream Americans. Most are abject failures that legislate from the bench based on personal and political bias and breach their duty of upholding the law. You are probably confusing them with Supreme Court Justices. Neither group have the power or authority to create or modify codified law. Their sworn duty is to apply the law.

That's a slick idea. Kudos to both playing. My wife is going on 5 years strong soon playing WoW since Fall of 2020 during the pandemic.  Find something that can at least play it but draws low power to WoW it up while on the road!

 

My daughter uses an Acer Swift Edge 16 OLED 7840U w/ a 65w charger that can handle WoW and even Hogwarts on lower settings. I'll have to float that idea by her when we settle in for fall travel. It never even crossed my mind!

Also knowing some EVGA engineers went to Sparkle is good to know. I'll put them on my to watch list.

 

Nvidia is just a greedy tyrant now and the only reason they are allowed to run rampant is because they do have the superior product from the 5080 on up and mind share and good products from the 5070ti on down. They also dominate AI but AMD is steadily making gains and all it takes is a series of mistakes and Nvidia can be Intel'd very quickly.

 

Also nice to know that Intel is literally selling out consistently of every GPU they can get out the door. They are consistently sold out everywhere at MSRP.

 

I remember when some were saying Intel was shutting down their GPU division after arc..... tsk tsk tsk.

That was this FTC decision, all 3 are VERY conservative leaning judges.

 

It's a 50/50 distribution of judges at the moment between republican and democrats nation wide in the courts.
