It will remove memory sticks from the equation basically especially with that Apex and 285k and knowing how high @Talon was able to run it with his 9600 sticks in G2. Tuned 8600 is a massive uplift over 6400.

Yeah. I have been starting to read through the Arrow Lake thread over at OCN. Sounds like G4 is needed over 9000 and its not worth it unless you can really push NGU further. I do not recall what @Talon tested his NGU to clock at but I am guessing 36 should be obtainable. Hopefully all of this can run ok on air only.

A bios update came through on the Legion 9i G10 recently which fixed a few bugs with the shipping bios, but sadly SREP no longer works so tuning D2D is not possible (yet) on that version.

Is Zotac the new Gigabyte?

Desperate needs, Desperate solutions....

OpenAI is so desperate for RAM modules that it's sending employees to stores and retailers to get gaming kits.

We are witnessing an escalating situation in the DRAM memory market, reaching levels that are, to put it mildly, unsustainable for the end consumer.

Re: Crocs..... NO. 😆 (Mic Drop!)

The fact Micron is shelving an entire brand to focus on the AI market is frightening....the market is truly going to be horrific for consumers next year. AI everywhere is consuming everything at a voracious rate.

On the other hand, I can't wait to see it become sentient......again (We all know this has had to have happened before somewhere in the great cosmos)

I probably could but the xx.85 is more for benching. I'm not so much into gaming anymore. And I also love play with the older cards I have. Connect and then disconnect the tiny trash connector several times doesn't make it better for benching in between the older cards with the 5090. The fragile connector destroy the fun. Every time you swap cards the connector will wear out. Thanks good I have the "overpriced" pin monitoring😀

One thing I did with the 4090 and will do with the 5090 is just leave my pigtails attached at all times. Even when I moved the 4090 between systems for testing, I left it connected and just connected up the 4x PCIE cables. One of the benefits of the pigtails....I guess?

Good. That protects our poor "investment" in 50-series and makes our demonstrations of poor judgment seem somewhat less egregious. It also helps to lessen the impact of being willing victims of predatory business practices.

Yep, looks like 4090 cycle all over again but a 2.5yr+ life cycle is a long time. Imagine no new cards till Fall 2027 except for a Super refresh.....*yawn*

Be careful not to fall in the expensive binned ram rabbit hole. Most all rams can run 8600c36 or 9000c40 if IMC allows. If the motherboard will boot at high speeds in bios, this means your ram sticks and motherboard are capable of such a speed. So if it post in bios or windows but it’s not stable for daily, your IMC is the limit here. If it doesn’t load in to the bios, then it’s a memory/board issue and better memory/board/voltages/timings might help.

I’m on a 17Pro max 2TB.

I had a 13 pro max for over 4 years previously though, gave to my son. iPhones will survive the good fight lol. 😂

We will see, but I wanted to also have some G4 fun and see how far that will go. I basically wanted the best of both worlds to eventually push 9200+ G4 for funsies as I will end up binning some samples along the way over the next several months as time allows. I want to remove RAM as a potential bottleneck in that equation and also be settled in for Panther Lake potentially next year. I will eventually probably end up switching motherboards down the road too depending on how this all goes.

Those V-color 9600  sticks will effectively remove a bit of this noise for now and remove a variable right out of the gate letting me focus on motherboards and cpus.

I  also need those extra KingBank sticks for my daughter's AM5 system buildout in progress.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to hold onto the 16 Pro Max as long as possible till a member needs an upgrade. Sheesh, 2TB model? Really? That's crazy storage!

You should come back and run Ultra or AM5 bro! Something new and different. 🙂

Come down the rabbit hole with us! 🤑 With no new hardware on the horizon, it's time to play and tweak either AM5 or Ultra which will undoubtedly be faster than your current setup for gaming as a bonus and harness that 5090 even more.

Yep, G4 is just for bandwidth testing/funsies. The idea is to push 8600+ tuned to the bones in G2 and play with G4 at 9000+. With the 9600 sticks you have the potential ability to do both and remove any binning issues from the equation pushing lower spec'd DDR5 modules on the hopes they can push higher. It really lets you focus on the MB/CPU combo.

For your setup already having been pre-tested by @Talon, luckily you know exactly at a minimum what it can do no problem so you should be able to come right out of the gate initially tuned on the CPU and memory pushing 8600 tuned right out of the block and go from there. It really is coming to you ready to rock and roll in the best way. On my end, I get to FAFO with lower tier hardware (Z890 Strix-A + 265k) right out of the gate and a bunch of unknowns.

On my end atm, it is the KingBank sticks holding me back as they passed 8000 and 8200 no problem but borked out at 8400 in less than 3 minutes on TestMem5 at 1.5v. I pushed them to 1.55v as an IMC test and they lasted almost an hour in TM5 before borking instead. I put a fan on them to cool them down while running and they made it through the 90 min run at 1.55v. With or without the fan, 1.50v and they borked out in less than 5 minutes at 8400.

My TG 8200 sticks only require 1.45v so hopefully they have a little more room to play with and slightly better heatsinks (KingBank for the price then have exceptionally nice Heatsinks on them).

My hope is the 9600 sticks will remove a lot of this redlining potential or need of a fan or better heatsinks and simply run as is tuned at 8600+ G2 and get some benching fun in at G4 9000+ if not with the 265k now then some other chips to bin over the next few months.

More on this. Yup,  exactly as good old Gigabyte...

ZOTAC rejects RTX 5070 Ti fan-issue RMA over “limited tools” and PCB scratches, then offers to dispose of the card

Second e-mail. Zotac will be peased to help you to dispose the card. Better say, will you  buy another one?😀

Yup that also  works. But the HW reviewers at HardwareLux did the same. The card melted anyway😀

But I guess, the chances for wear out being better if you do it that way. Worse if you want put the card in the box while you use your other cards. The tiny connector is trash!

Pushing NGU and D2D have almost no affect on temps or power. Air cooler will be fine if you keep the power limits in check like always.

Unless they do something really dumb, like they did with Core Ultra (more silly focus E-cores and no hyper-threading) my next build will be Intel again.

More E-cores, much better iGPU and much better NPU. Intel will deliver in loads of what you want/hope for. But probably no HT for now. Happy ?😀

But, for a quick summary, you are looking at new P/E-core architectures, along with the advanced 'Celestial' Xe3 iGPU architecture, and a 5th-generation NPU onboard, which will take edge AI to a new level. However, Intel has been decent on the mobile front; however, its market share has declined on the desktop.

I would be happy to see them not release any new GPUs for another 2+ years. If we pay $2000+ for a halo product it needs to remain on top of everything else for at least 3 or 4 years to be worth it.

Done🙂 Ths is propaganda. The big fat lie.

Intel this week reiterated that it cannot meet demand for all of its client and data center processors due to insufficient supply, and specifically mentioned that it could use more Core Ultra 200-series Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake wafers to increase shipments of appropriate processors.

Not much better than... Consumers Should take a break spending their har d earned money on Mem/prebuilt computers. Buy only buy  what you really need. And if you can.... Spend less money. That will help on the greed.

And the worst part is... The citizens won't get any help from their own government adm to stop this. Because they are deaply involved into this corruption and messed up situation.

I know man a 2TB iPhone is pretty wild. People do not believe this, but Verizon had a promotion and the 2TB model was $599.99 over 3yr period. 🤯

Anyways, I don’t think I’m gonna change my rig yet. I play 4K, so I’m always GPU bottlenecked anyways.

But I’m gonna be watching the upcoming hardware. The 9950XD2, and 290K, and hopefully Intels new LGA1900 platform? I’m content for now at least.
