Bonus package ? Nvidia killed off SLI NVLink with Ada. HEDT lost even more now,  RTX3090TI FE x2 SLI will be much more than a single GPU RTX4090 for those SLI workloads that scale.. ML/AI and etc esp those which use 48GB of VRAM with SLI.

Yeah, another data point on Nvidia monopolistic abuse. The NVLink circuitry is there, they just removed the connector, so they can charge 2x per core for their professional 48GB cards.

Good news is that AMD is getting more into the game now, from what I can see. Better late than never.

Right, but 69C is pretty cool to begin with. Very curious to see a genuine OC FE vs OC AIB comparison.

If these cards operate at 90-95% performance with 60% power, logic would dictate there is not much more to be gained there. Competitive overclocking will sadly be about who gets that extra 1.5-1.75% performance.

Nvidia decided to kill off all that, along with those pesky AIBs, by locking out the voltage. Few people will risk shunt modding their $2k cards.

Makes sense, which is where the FE blower design comes in...

Everyone is buying the scalper GPU’s on eBay. I’m shocked we are even doing this again. If they’d just wait for the next inventory load they would get one.

I saw them in Newegg for $1,599 for several hours until they finally sold out.

Nvidia's kick in the ass for the AIB partners. Is +33% 600w what all partners is aloowed for 4090? And of course, Locked voltage for all 4090 cards.

BIOS Power Limit Manual Adjustment Range

Yep, Nvidia should have throw in the last nail in the AIB coffin and made better cooling for higher sustained boost clock. They had the potential to be the overall winner but cheaped out on the max cooling. Good binned chips (both for the cores and memory) is nice to have. But same is the cooling for the cards.

Thanks for this bro, confirmed the predictable. Wasn't far off: SuprimX is 2% faster than FE.... Not sure how AIBs plan on justifying charging extra for that.

Give it a couple of weeks. There will always be people with a few K to throw about, but probably not that many these days. Of course, Nvidia is ultimately to blame by keeping the inventories artificially tight.

Evga is out of the Game. Galaxy fast out for the bragging rights. I wonder how Asus and Msi will do it.

Yep, I wonder what brand will be the overclockers first choice now.

GALAX Brazil OC Team Pushes The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 To A Monster 3.45 GHz LN2 OC, Breaks Five World Records
https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-overclocked-to-3-45-ghz-on-ln2-by-galax-oc-team-shatters-five-world-records/

One crucial piece of information shared by Ronaldo about the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is that it is very sensitive to voltage and simply changing the voltage from "1.10V to 1.15V" can result in a huge difference in performance. With these higher voltages, TecLab / GALAX OC team was able to hit an overclocked frequency of up to 3.45 GHz however the clock frequency is the only feat achievable as the performance isn't that great with such high clocks and the card did lose out some performance in the process.

-----------------------------------------------------

RTX 4090 Phantom GS 24GB GDDR6X 529834 - with currency surcharge (NOK vs $) and 25% taxes on top - 1,996.67 United States Dollar

ZOTAC GEFORCE RTX 4090 AMP EXTREME AIRO 24 GB  -  with currency surcharge (NOK vs $) and 25% taxes on top - 2,605.32 United States Dollar

Still not many options here home. But I don't expect many cards will come below $1.996 usd here. This even for the cheapest cards from all manufacurers. Mostly all of the cards will be $2000 and above.

That needs a water block for a lot of reasons, many of them having little or nothing to do with the GPU. The most obvious is, you don't want that space heater with a cool core pumping a butt-load of hot air into your case if you care about something other than the GPU.

To some extent it will overclock itself. Doesn't matter for playing games. It does matter for competitive benching. For gaming having a consistent experience no matter the brand is a win. Everyone having a consistent experience is a massive loss for competitive overclocking. You don't care about the experience anyone else is having, you only care about how far you can push it past what they are experiencing. If you can't do that the product is worthless and a waste of money. You should buy something cheap for gaming.

After the 3090ti FTW3 space heater week before returning it, it just had me double down on Hybrid or potential block.

When I had my FE 3090, I ran it in a Corsair 540 with all the panels off for a framed look so I never really got to experience the heat dump into the case nor was it on the level of that FTW3 3090ti. It was already cold outside so I didn't realize the heat dump into the room too.

Regardless, if you're into competitive benching, a block is basically the entry point then you have your chiller to really kick it up a notch.

For gaming, it is what do you expect? If the game play is all that matters, get a 720p display, turn everything down to low and get a 1060 and run everything. But everyone has their own expectations and desired experience.

Back in the day when I was a competitive Quake player, we aimed (no pun intended) to turn everything down as much as possible not only for frame rates but it made everything stand out more starkly for targeting. Eye candy was a distraction.

Then turn around and Deus Ex comes out a few years later and I'm overclocking everything with the best video card I can find to pump up details as much as possible and get acceptable frame rates at 1080p and still wanted more.

This chasm of expectations still exists to this day for gamers....

.....this is the way. 🙂

Gosh this is getting sad. Nothing to brag about, is there? I mean it's clear NVIDIA wants to take over the physical card market too, at which point Mr J will be free to jack up the prices by the few hundred bucks AIBs have so far been able to pocket.

I’m so disappointed in our society. They are literally buying the scalpers 4090’s on eBay… Like rinse and repeat.

I saw this a bit ago and I agree. On the other hand, everyone of my local Microcenters have 4090's in stock but only the trash models (Zotac, MSI low end, etc...).

Best Buy and Newegg are sold out but the day is young and those who buy from eBay are going to be kicking themselves when a month from now everything is back in stock plus AMD on the horizon.

Sure, alas this is very subjective. Quite a few reviewers have noted that some (most?) of the AIB cards look like they are targeting 12 year olds. I would personally agree: the FE design looks far more refined and elegant compared to some of the grotesque air-cooled space heaters AIBs churned out. One exception would be the WC-ed models which tend to be slick and take just 2 slots. Wish I had space for another AIO radiator in my case. The trouble is that liquid cooling is not hugely needed for those cards, especially considering the FEs blower/rear-exhaust design.

Zotac GeForce RTX 4090 Amp Extreme Airo Review

REVIEW GRAPHICS CARDS

Zotac's GeForce RTX 4080 AMP Extreme Airo comes with a mesmerizing RGB implementation that simply looks stunning. As expected, a factory overclock is included on Zotac's new flagship, and the cooler runs very quietly once the dual BIOS is switched to "quiet mode".

With manual OC we were able to break the 3 GHz barrier, memory overclocked a bit worse though, possibly because of the higher memory temperatures. Zotac's vapor-chamber baseplate is a little bit too small for the memory arrangement, so the chips aren't fully covered. While memory temps aren't "high", they are still a few degrees warmer than on competing RTX 4090 cards, which seems reflected in the memory OC.

https://www.tech-critter.com/zotac-rtx-4090-amp-extreme-airo-review/

While on load, the highest temperature recorded on the GPU and GPU hotspot is 72.4ºC and 82.3ºC respectively. This is about 2ºC and 4ºC lower on the GPU and GPU hotspot as compared to the Founders Edition design, so that’s a good sign I’d say. In the past, we can see RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti with insanely high GPU hotspot temperatures that can go up to 100ºC but that’s not something you’ll see on the RTX 4090 this time, especially with the custom design from the partners.

Congrats bro John🙂 The boat design looks great. From 9:00

I agree. My favorite two models are the Suprim Hybrid and FE. The Gigabyte Hybrid doesn't look too bad either and it is the only Hybrid over here that actually cools the GPU and VRMs with the AIO and has zero fans on the card itself.

Be avere of this if you will keep the card... Probably the reason the vram clocked lower than some other 4090 cards.

I noticed that the cooler doesn't make ideal contact with the memory chips on two sides. It seems that the vapor-chamber base is a little bit too small to cover the memory chips completely. The fact that the thermal pads were positioned slightly away from the edge didn't help either. With 76°C (82°C in quiet mode) memory temperatures are still perfectly fine, even though they are 4-6°C higher than on other RTX 4090 cards. Still MUCH better than the 100+°C that we saw on some GeForce 30 cards.

Wow, congrats. One of the nicer looking cards too, IMHO. Do you mind running the AIDA GPGPU Benchmark?

Sure, i'll try to run it in a bit.

Congrats! Enjoy your "trash" Zotac. 🙂

I only called it that because you said Zotac was trash. lol

@Papusan

I have no intentions on keep this card. I went to Microcenter to pick up an order fo my client and asked if they had any cards left and they said they had 2. And 1 guy had one of them in his hand looking at it. I was like....Okay let me get the other one. This was at about 8:30AM and Microcenter opened at 6AM. 1 minute later 3 people came up asking about cards, but they were sold out.

PS: But I am keeping that PSU though. I haven't taken it out of the box yet, but at some point I will.
