Think there will be any chance of getting an XTX at msrp? Or is that wishful thinking? The XT should have been priced ~$200 less than the XTX. 4080's are going for ~$400 more.

I will do my due dilligence. But have you a few options that could be ok?

 

I know KFA2 4090 is made by Galax. But not if Galax will let it get the love. I think this models have an capped TDP. But previous models was ok.

 

I wonder what Hwbot will do with the cheater series cards scores. We have now 4080 and 4090. Sonn will Nvidia push out the other models. And what with AMDs new cards? I wonder what flaws they will provide for benchmarks. But it amusing that U/L Futuremark allow ECC for benches while the bot ban it. I would never think this could ever happen.

Where are you located? Local Microcenter is almost a guarantee tomorrow if you go early. Online? It could be a turd in a napkin...if it said Intel, Nvidia or AMD on the side it will sell out most likely day one.

Well you better get ta' steppin' as they open at 6am in the morning. LOL

So far though...the lines I saw for the 4090/4080 were dismal. everyone in line got a card. I expect the same for AMD.

It's hard to say. I was trying to get a Strix for like 5 days and just settled for this Suprim X after they said the cards were all DOA. Although you are on that side of the world I would really try to grab a HOF card! Even founders edition cards seem to be worthy this go round. And if not, then that KFA2 4090 sounds doable.

 

But also with this batch of cards it's a straight lottery, so make sure they have a decent return policy or get stuck with a turd....😢

It's hard to say. I was trying to get a Strix for like 5 days and just settled for this Suprim X after they said the cards were all DOA. Thanks bro John. Galax is excluded. We have never seen this brand here home. Even a big store as Caseking in Germany (de8auers shop) don't offer this card. The same can I say for the FE here home. Nothing there either. But lot Zotac (the boat) and gainward. As well Palit and Suprim X Liquid. The store I bought my MSI card had 60 of the X Liquid on Friday. + a few other models. All is sold out now. But you can stil grab loads of 4080, LOOL

 

Yep, when I finally get a new card (mamy years since I bought brand new)... And of course it had to be a mess with new tech as ECC and hwbot. Isn't it typical? I have a lot more fun benching the old. No fuss. And the mods can't remove legit scores.

Galax is sold as KFA2 in Europe, think they are the same boards.  KFA2 4090 starts at around 2099 euro in Germany, supply is there. Both mediamarkt and Saturn arw selling them.

Yes, the British media has a penchant for coming up with colourful names for weather conditions that slightly deviate from the expected mild state. Last winter (or two ago) it was "The Beast From The East"! -5C and a couple of inches of snow lol

 

As I recall, it's even funnier in Texas. - 1C and a bit of ice on the roads and everything grinds to a halt. I literally saw cars spinning around on crossroads - nobody uses winter tyres.

I am in the US....I remember getting the 1080TI FTW by constantly checking EVGA's site. They were releasing them as they made them. Ridiculous amount of time spent hitting f5. This was when cryptodicks bought everything up. I have checked all the sites that I visit for hardware, and best buy is the only place that even has them listed (sold out). I am assuming there is a specific time set to release them, as I checked just after midnight my local time, around 3am, and 6 am, with no listing up yet.

I know. But not the real deal from Galax. And I think the KFA2 come with castrated board power. Galax probably bin their chips pretty hard. The best chips will go to the "Galax" branding. Not that this is a bad card. Probably one of the better out there.

Have he been in the lab and checked? Or is it just the usual junk talk coming from the former Dell Alienware salesmans mouth? I can't see F. Azor have changed much since he left Dell and Alienware for AMD. Nothing have changed. Same old lies from the old horses mouth.. 

 

AMD has had a long history of drawing a lot of power in these power states, so I'm not 100% convinced this really is so easy to fix. I also find it hard to imagine that nobody at AMD tests multi-monitor power draw, so in some meeting somewhere, someone decided "we will release it like that." Techpowerup.com

As long Nvidia continue price their 4080 very high, the AMD cards will also have a bit of the cake. Those two follow each other. Prices will always be higher at launch. Maybe see what happens after New Year when people have spent all their money for Christmas.

Just wait till after the holidays. If you've gone this long without an upgrade what's a few more months? I won't be buying or doing anything till Feb or most likely March as I'll be on the road for most of Jan, back for a few weeks then right back out for another 2-3 weeks living off my laptop and ipad.

 

Things will settle down around March (in theory) and I'll see about picking up a new GPU.

 

6600xt should tide you over till late Q1 2023.

Best bet is to wait not only for all AIB models and to see who rises to the top since there is decent headroom but also to continue to work out the bugs and refine the performance. I think a few years from now we will see AMD will have the most driver performance improvements vs Nvidia.

 

My ETA for a potential new card is March 2023. Hopefully some price wars will have moved in by then.

 

Chiplet design is future thinking and this is literally version 1.0. For whatever reasons besides cost, AMD has decided monolithic has hit a dead end like with their CPUs. Time will tell.

Intel graphics won't be a option in the nearest future... Because they follow AMD... Focus is "lower power" and or performance-per-watt.. Not the highest possible performance. We can clearly see he comes from AMDs Radeon Technologies Group. Peformance will always come second or last.

Yep, AMD seems to struggle take out max performance in the beginning for their cards. Intel seems to run the same way.

 

And Nvidia can continue as they do. Deliver performance for premium. 

 

Intel’s Raja Koduri Says His Focus Is 225 Watt GPUs With One Power Connector

Did you check out our review of the new RDNA-3-based Radeons yet? Those GPUs are extremely high-powered in every sense, and that means that they're out of reach for the majority of the market. Intel's Raja Koduri apparently intends to target exactly that meaty middle, as he recently told a group of Indian tech....

 

Intel apparently won't be taking that track. Koduri says that his focus is "lower power" and complained that the high-end has "no limit right now." He has a point, and admits that halo SKUs are good for marketing, but then goes on to say that his priority is "getting that core audience, with one power connector. And that can get you up to 200-225W."

 

Edit. Whats wrong with Radeon 7000 series backplate? You can fry egg on it. And the cards don't evn come with the double-sided GDDR6X memory as etch for 3090. Cheapo thin metal or low quality pads?
