Click on the voltage control in MSI Afterburner and Nvidia inspector just put the voltage slider back to zero. They do nothing. Then I tried to reinstall latest stable MSI Afterburnerer, but nope, same shiiity. Nothing happen. The sliders crash back in Zero. On two of my other ssds I have Win 7 and Win 8.1... Have +87mv aviable on the slider. Have tested several vbios but this one works great. But the stupids at nvidia removed voltage adjustments in any type of OC software with latest drivers. Voltage tuning work well for all drivers up to I think 525.22 (Nvidia's release driver for ADA). I think max is 1.28 or 1.3V. And voltage monitoring isn't 100% reliable on Maxwell. 1.280v custom vbios is in fact 1.3V real voltage from my understanding. 

 

But why change this now? 6 years after the Maxwell cards got relased. Me think Nvidia screwed up. You also needed beta OC software to be able to adjust the small voltage headroom for 4090. I expect the same for 4080. 

 

It seems Nvidia treating desktop cards equal bad as Mobile graphics nowadays. Just look at what they tried do with the 12GB scam version of 4080 (brand it as a real 4080). New times and new screw ups. Just as expected.

Beta over clock software for the 4090? My sliders worked on all 3 of my cards, provided it was only 50mv. I'm not sure I understand my friend?

 

As to older cards you may be right. The oldest card I have at the moment is a 1070 in my server and it moves like only 43mv. Now that one is on a much older driver as well.

Me had latest stable Msi Afteburner installed. Fully working voltage control on all my cards. Swap out and in and no problem with any of my cards. Me put in the brand new 4090. Me see the voltage slider is greyed out (can't adjust voltage). Me downloaded and  installled beta version and the voltage slider come back in the light again. This for the 4090. Maybe new card, but i mean it should work for all cards. Even the newest.

On any driver that does not have voltage control:

Add this line at the bottom of the [startup] in the profile folder/profile for the card you are running. Make sure voltage has been unlocked using the msi settings page. restart msi afterburner and you should have voltage control

Thanks bro John. will test it out later. I will also check out at what drivers the changes was made. 

 

Seems hwbot have done some weird things for their ranking. Me had Nr1 in Norway + Season ranking and 2nd for Enthusiasts league. Now everything is colored in Gold. Probaly something very weird going on with their ranking system or servers. Or just screwed up.

Shouldn't drop that much if they go back to the normal. 2 or 3 places down if they don't screw up even more 🙂 Not all got same love. Only a few. Yep, very weird.

 

Edit. Can you see what scores that was kicked out? You talked about SLI. I think they talked about remove some SLI scores... At least for 3DM 2001. Some smartasss did some tricks so the scores went higher than they should for some of the sub tests. Only for SLI systems..

There is always a few that screw up for all others. Some's mentality is pretty broken. Or they are just stupid.

Yep, I see this on the ranking list for 3090 SLI... I can't see it other way than they screwed up. The scores are legit and should be put back.

Also why I called it the "Jufres" test, but no.

1: You are testing if you have good or bad memory and this is the fastest way to find out. Nothing about stability being tested in this part of testing.

2: Testing for max clocks. Core and memory. This is like you having an Asus board that can read the SP and MC SP rating.

3: Once that is established. Then you work your way up or back from the max or stock clocks with benching and gaming. Once found, then you can go back to doing things normal or at your best stable clocks knowing that you have a good product.

 

 

The reason for this as we have seen time and time again are early adopters get to super bragging about how great their part is only to find out that it was crap. And now they are mad because they did not know the true scale in which to work with. So you get said card and say it does what I need it to do and it's great with 1000+ vram over clock. Only to find out that it was not great and your card is actually a dud. How? because you try to do 1050 and your pc crashes, while others are doing 1500 to 2200+ with ease.

 

Now in the grand scheme of things if you are a gamer then this really doesn't amount to anything as all the cards will game on stock clocks, but for people wanting to get what they paid for. it's a big deal.

 

 

ha ok, so its just a time saver then, gotcha. i never really did that kinda clock testing, since im not getting anything out of it, id rather put some time into it and use it for something, i.e. benching or gaming 🙂

Also AMD tried do the same (price) trickery as nvidia. Offer a brand new graphics card that should never have seen the light. Nvidia had to remove the 12GB 4080 from their model line-up... AMD should have done the same. Or at least changed MSRP before release.

What we have learned:

In our opinion, there's no reason to buy the Radeon RX 7900 XT, you'd always just spend $100 extra to get the faster 7900 XTX. For the XT model to make sense it needs to cost $200 less than the XTX.

sigh...sucks big time. apparently, AMD's launch stock for 7000 series gpus is roughly 70% XT vs. 30% XTX. and, of course, NOBODY wants the XT. sooooo if all ure left with is a 7900XT or a 4080 then yeah....suddenly the frigging 4080 super crapfest card becomes the most sold gpu. gives me a headache to see such things happening... the more time passes, the happier i am i grabbed the 4090 Suprim X at MSRP, not looking back!

what gives me hope is that there might still be a lot of gas left in the tank via driver updates and overclocking (partner models and manual OC) to bring the 7900 XTX closer to where it SHOULD be, namely squarely between the 4080 and 4090, maybe even closer to the latter than the former.

And they are gone for ever. This without a notice. And thoose that doubled up $$$$ for points on the bot with the latest and greatest SLI will see their points vanish into thin air. They all will be gone. I hope people have more use for cards in SLI for own work than for benching. 

 

More people will see their ranking and points going down the drain. Never pay too much for benching. Only pay more for your needs. But I know, you know all this, bro John. 

 

Paying a lot for Hwbot, is only for the very few (Elite/in-house/have contacts benchers). But they pay nothing. Everything for free. Those get the very best bin quality possible, special firmware/software/unlock keeys and full custom support from the brand. Regardless if it's about Cpu, Gpu, MB, Mem or PSU. All is hand-picked and not for the mass. Only for the few.

I've decided to send the G.SKILL A-die back for a refund. The more I have played with it, I am discovering it is inferior to the generic green M-die sticks I already own. It's less stable, more prone to errors and runs hotter. Plus, the RGB rainbow puke keeps returning and my white color choice doesn't get saved. If I set the sticks to white and shut down the rainbox puke returns unless I boot into the same OS and allow RGB control software to override the default puke. If I boot into any other OS, the rainbow puke is what I get to look at.

 

I've tested it on the Strix and the Dark motherboards and it's buggy on both platforms. On the Dark with the latest 2.05 BIOS I can run the G.SKILL XMP 7200 profile on my M-die without complications. The read/write/copy and latency are all better using the M-die at the same clock speed. Without lowering clock speed, I can run tighter timings that are stable on the M-die, but they're not even bootable with the A-die. 

 

The G.SKILL A-die appears to be a low quality silicon variant like the Corsair Vengeance A-die that I returned. The JEDEC default speed is 4800 on both of them, rather than 5600, and they both seem like compromised garbage products. 

I have ordered a pair of generic green Hynix A-die with a default 5600 clock from China on Aliexpress for $100 less than the defective RGB puke options. This appears to be exactly the same product Splave sells on HWBOT.

And the 3090 is still damn expensive and probably more fun (works on Win 7). And I use this OS a lot. Maybe I’ll sit on the fence now see how the prices will be for newer cards. But one thing for sure. It won’t be AMD.
