All I can hope for, is that this is the straw the breaks the camels back. Asus needs to be cut down and lose their ROG brand's premium status in the eyes of the public. Whether that really happens or not, is to be determined. I, personally, don't think this is going to happen but I won't be buying any Asus products for awhile.

It is very similar to Alienware. Once a great company that produced good products and focused on quality and customer experience. Now just selling lies and pawning their trash to anyone willing to buy it based on a reputation that was actually deserved once upon a time. It's a lot like having someone tell you about their big apple tree and bragging about the beautiful, sweet, juicy apples it produces. Then you get one of them that looks really fantastic on the outside, but when you bite into it you find that the inside is full of worms and skanky, rotting apple pulp. You start looking closer and discover it's not just that one that sucked, but the entire tree is full of wormy, rotting apples.

Moving is never fun until all of the work is over and you are able to enjoy the new home. Besides the packing and unpacking, there always seems to be a long list of honey-do items that need to be addressed before you can enjoy living in a new (hopefully better) place.

Sounds like the custom loop was a wise upgrade in terms of thermal benefit, but that should come as no surprise. Did they take care of your RGB controller problem yet?

Actually they have not. I emailed them a week ago, and still have not received a response. Granted, I am using the newegg "contact seller" email, but I would assume that they would want to keep customers happy through them. I just fired off an email at their main web site to see if I could get a response. Their policy is to have newegg handle all RMA's, but I do not want to return the entire kit. I just want to have the defective parts replaced. Im not holding my breath, however.

It's never ideal when your find yourself dealing with a NewEgg or Amazon marketplace seller, but with certain brands that is the only option because there is no in-house "sold and shipped by" option to purchase the product. If that is what they require, ask for a special exception. Have them send you a new kit, take the good piece from the new kit, put the bad piece in the box and return it with everything new and untouched except for the bad RGB controller. If they don't get it back from you with 20 days, then they charge you full-bore for the second kit. They actually agreed to that when I purchased a CPU+mobo combo from them last year and the CPU was a trashy silicon sample. Because it was sold as a bundle they could not exchange the CPU for an acceptable silicon sample, but they let me do what I described above. It required approval from a manager. The CPU that came with the second bundle was acceptable (average or better).

I really hope this won't happen...... Blockchain companies want to recoup GPU investment with AI and HPC. I would rather they sell the GPUs in the used market and hope it hit Nvidia and AMD where it hurts most.

And the 273K views the last 6 hours ago doesn't exactly help Asus sell more of their hardware. Then add the 514K views from Gamers Nexus Scumbag ASUS video and you get a clearer picture. Yep, Asus is on fire....

While Jay and Steve are big youtubers, if Linus joins the fray against Asus, then they may feel the heat. He ended his video "and you don't care". Jay is right, Asus won't care about losing Jay or Steve.

I do think Jay's video feels personal. He went into a bit of detail over their sponsorship and the pessimist in me believes he is using this saga as public leverage in those negotiations.

What's nice, is they didn't ask for any of the defective stuff first. Just straight up making it right. They may ask for it after I receive the replacements, but that's okay. Not sure why the Newegg email inbox went unmonitored, or ignored, but I'm impressed with the final result.

They will continue. Nothing will change!

All companies will try maxing out profits from their cheapo made (often defective) products. It's in their nature/blood. They all will try to screw you one or another way. Here is Lian Li that went the cheapo route... They have no problem with selling you defective products. And they know 100% for sure that their defective products will make problems for the buyers within a couple of years (see bolded text below).

The AIO dying continues merrily: Lian Li Galahad 360 (1st version) with complete constipation (purchase warning) igorslab.com

In the case of the Lian Li Galahad 360 of the 1st version (and also the identically constructed Galahad 240), I have to issue an explicit purchase warning, because such a product should be completely taken off the market. Since there is now a version 2 (certainly for a good reason), it is completely incomprehensible to me that Lian Li simply leaves the defective product on the market. Here the total failure is already included in the purchase.

What I don't get is the equal tiers. A 4050 should technically be faster than a 3090ti if they are honest. Why release a gpu that's not better then the last generation. Every year we have 3 cards 2 nvidia sometimes 3 and 1 amd offering a new card with last gen performance. You need to stop and think. Why on earth are they milking it so much and why isn't anyone mentioning this

I fix it for you 🙂 You need compare the correct SKU. And you can't say a 13600K is faster than a 12900K. They don't have same amount cores so can't be compared. Same apply also for graphics cards.

Man, I have been sick as a dog forever now. I had like COVID or the flu 🤷‍♂️. Funny because I took vacation from work, and been sick all this time, perfect timing I guess 😂. I have lost 16lbs in a week by just laying around in bed being sick!! That is insane.

Damn sorry to hear but luckily you're on the mend and crawling back to the forums. 🙂

Either one can knock you for a loop. Covid had me down for 5 weeks struggling to breathe and 2-3 months to fully recover early on (April 2020). Second time about two weeks. Last time I barely noticed it and if I didn't have a stack of tests at home I would have never known.

Caught the flu a few months back. Went from,  "I feel odd" telling the wife to within 24hrs the highest temp I've ever had in life (103.4) and feeling like I was burning up from the inside. I was down for a week and it took me a few weeks to fully recover. I lost 10lbs just being sick too. For me it was variant B.

Return of the luggables! 🙂

Many (MANY) moons ago, I had a Compaq portable that was pretty chunky and hefty. It was meant for site to site work like the one you linked.

I like the fact this one has a 24" display and basically an empty case to hold components and it is open air so they can just breathe.

You really would be able to modernize it however you see fit within its constraints.

It's a biggun though but I do like the idea....

Man, I have been sick as a dog forever now. I had like COVID or the flu 🤷‍♂️. Funny because I took vacation from work, and been sick all this time, perfect timing I guess 😂. I have lost 16lbs in a week by just laying around in bed being sick!! That is insane.

Hope you get back to normal soon, bro.

Hey everyone! What do you guys think of using this case as a base for a proper laptop?

It's extremely expensive for a case, but you'd have a forever upgradeable laptop. 🤪

A desktop in a Pelican case.

1080P in 24" should be swapped to 1440P and this will increase costs further. And not sure how you can take with you this on a flight.

Is this below a joke or a sad story about greed? Gamers will now get the choice between plague and cholera if they have a fixed amount money to spend (see bolded text). Or loan up more with your credit card to pay more for the more expensive graphics card with vram in no-mans land (4070@12GB). New 8 and 12GB mid-range nvidia card should never have seen the light in 2023 but nvidia want you to upgrade within two years to be able to play next gen games. This is greed. Not a Joke. Or it could be both? Enjoy your weekend

If the two variants are close in terms of price, then gamers will have to make their choice based on whether their favorite games need 16GB of memory, or a higher-performing GPU with 4352 CUDA cores. Or perhaps go with more expensive GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB or even GeForce RTX 4070 with 12GB.

Nvidia Reportedly Prepping RTX 4060 with 16GB of VRAM

Nvidia expected to offer fourth GeForce RTX 4060 model.

So, I just bought a decent SP-rating 13900KS from a person on OC.net. Thanks @tps3443for calling my attention to it.

I will be selling the Strix Z690-E and 13900KF and 32GB of Hynix M-die DDR5. If anyone is interested and wants first crack at the parts, drop me a PM. I will put them in the Marketplace unless someone snags it via PM.

Congrats!

How far were you able to push A-die's on the Strix Z690-E? (2x16GB,SR)

I just finished testing 2 more sets of M-dies and they were worse than my current set so it will be A-die from here on out (or B-die's which are up next).
