A couple of test results from the GTX 970. It seems I need another vbios. I need to see what to get. What I have I think is too new. But okish results. Around 1600 on the cores.

Disable Hpet in the tools box in the Gpupi software. Should reboot automatically afterwards. And don’t use the legacy version with newer HW. The scores will be lower😉

@Papusancan you beat my 3060 with your 970? I'm thinking you could come close Im getting 9200 in timespy. also I thought you had a 980 laptop for a while? did you sell it?

WOW...who knew Acer was going to come out and challenge everyone. The heatsinks are a bit large but it does come with a fan for the RAM. Thinking of picking up a Z790 Dark for the refresh CPUs even though I still have my Z690 Dark.

I figured "shots fired" from Acer when they offered that Intel Arc A770 Bifrost which is a slick and different design. Now they're bringing this? Hopefully the Predator line continues to grow and become something serious and powerful.

imagine sli 4090s that would be something else. I wish they would just bring back SLI but I guess the market was to small for any real traction, NBR probably had like half the SLI customers posting in the forums. I also miss the days of bios modding ala Prema mods. the old school gpus were much simpler to overclock and I remember huge gains sometimes 50percent gains were possible. now its 10-20 percent due to thermal constraints. Everyone seems to have the same heat limitations.

funny thing is if I remember correctly it had dual 1080s. and that would make it 50-80 percent faster than my 3060. thats 6 years time and still a beast.

That looks pretty awesome. I sure hope they join the ranks with overclocker-focused components.

I came very close to buying one of those Bifrost A770s that @electrosoftmentioned. I still want one, but don't need it. Had I not gotten the 6900 XT from you, that Bifrost A770 is what I would have purchased.

I had two 2080Ti’s in NVLink in 2020-2021. The 2080Ti was a bit of an odd GPU. So it had the full bandwidth SLI link some Quadro cards had at 100Gbps, but all of the Nvidia GeForce NVLink adapters were limited to 50Gbps which was what a normal RTX2080 could do. So, I ran (2) 2080Ti’s with unlimited power bios, and a Quadro 100Gbps NVLink bridge so I could get their full potential. I really tried to make it as good as it could be. And it just really sucked.

The first issue was the power consumption. Each card could easily draw 450 watts. Then my 7980XE was capable of like 1,000 watts in R23 benchmark alone. So feeding this gaming beast with even a 1,200 watt platinum PSU resulted in constant power shutdowns.

The 2nd issue was making SLI work and scale. And even when it did perform and scale 100% with games like RDR2 that use Vulkan API, the 1% lows and latency was the absolute worst. Like 30-70ms frame times. Super high max and average frame rates with minimums in the teens.

It was really a difficult experience, every now and then it was fun, but that was too rare an occurrence. My 3090 Kingpin rolled in and dogged those 2080Ti’s in everything. 🤣 while being so easy, and so much smoother. And, no messing around in the Nvidia profile inspector for hours and hours just to make something work.

The dual GPU idea was amazing! And it can absolutely work. I would love to run (2) 3090 Kingpins and just go smash on 4090’s lol. But that idea is just not very likely. Maybe in synthetic benchmarks, but not games.

Really depended on the game, and if the Dev wanted to support it or not.

I typically ran SLI as a default mode of operation, still would if I could.

Yep, and it was a very expensive failure. 9000$ here and and all HW was welded on the MB. No wonder it was in limited edition. Too expensive and E-waste.

True, doesnt follow my checklist either from a foundational standpoint. That being said, its a halo product, never meant to be a mass production option. That being said I would be interested to see if its possible to solder on a different CPU much in the same vein as the Prema/Dsanke mods for Clevo's

I loved them! I wanted one back in the day. I thought they were cool. Massive and huge gaming laptop. Today a MSI GT77 Titan is a far better option though for half the price and Mini LED display.

Why does the new 4060 even need to exist? I really hope Nvidia will be screwed on this one.

Good news for the leather-jacket man. People just love their new overpriced scam. 4060 is in reality a 4050 card. But one stupid is one too much. He should rather stay in the bed.

Bro @Mr. Fox. Maybe you want 3090 ti HOF OC Lab Limited Edition? Yep not the newest cards from current gen but come with a nice Asus Strix  OC 4090 price tag. The elite or chosen one want some cash back after the promotion and points.

Remember this is the Limited Edition Card where only 100 were made. This one is number 4. so close to nr 1. Maybe youfinally have the chance to feel how the elite have it. Nice to have the chance to feel being privileged. Only $2185USD. Hope you don't need to pay for the shipping. and you ebven get a nice suitcase. You may have to pay for everything. Maybe send the bill to your employer 🙂

One thing for sure.... If you are the elite or the chosen one. You don't pay a dime. Smell on it... Only for yooo. I feel I have a better chance in a normal ordinary lottery.

Also, did you purchase those crucial gen 5 ssd's from the egg? Sorry if you mentioned it, I was so far behind in the forums, I kind of skimmed through.

While every brand has been susceptible, the most common combo is Asus + CableMod.

I haven't had even a lick of problems with my MSI Suprim Liquid X using the stock cable.

All it took was that initial CM cable to start shutting off on its own >300w to sour me on them. I don't need aesthetics that badly. They sent me a brand new 4 position EVGA -> 12vhpwr cable and it is sitting in the drawer brand new. I'm loathe to even take a chance because I know statistically speaking I will never land another 4090 like this one again just on the new 1.07v nerf alone to all models shipping now never mind 2820-2835 OOB boosting and 3120-3160 OC boosting on stock BIOS and stock AIO cooling and near zero coil whine along with >=+1600 on the memory. It literally checked all my "pretty please" boxes right out of the box. Just imagine this on the HOF BIOS and chilled water.

So you won't be happy with a rand0m refurbished 4090 with a 90 day warrenty(if you are lucky and Asus feel for it)? Yep, you get a refurbished card but your orginal Asus warranty is lost forever. Aka you are doomed to use the CM adaper forever. But here's the other side of the coin.... Will CableMod offer help when you run into other problems (no smoke and fire) as etc a dead ADA chips or dead mem chips? Or even a failed power delivery. What with blackscreens that isn't from their adapters?  Do You Feel Lucky if you go the angled CM route? Maybe this can answer it 🙂

My ASUS 4090 port melted and I feel cornered.

And what if he sell his 4090 for another card? The new owner if his Asus card won't get any warranty. Thats the other side of the coin with the adapter. Here home we have 5 years warranty and the new owner get the same rights. Nice. I hate being screwed. And I always do my due diligence

So, I turn my rig on for the first time in 2 weeks, and I am presented with the Gui OS boot menu?? @Mr. Foxdoes windoze revert back after setting the bootloader to legacy?

Also, did you purchase those crucial gen 5 ssd's from the egg? Sorry if you mentioned it, I was so far behind in the forums, I kind of skimmed through.

Windows Update most likely. That's usually when I get the gay blue tiled crap resurfacing. It's easy to fix the boot manager menu at a cmd prompt with admin rights. I'd be more worried about what you can't see that probably got effed up.

The SSDs are review units from Crucial. Thus, I will be posting a formal review on them soon.
