papusan, I like benching older hardware same as you, but for gaming what do you figure? I saw a 3060ti desktop for 1100 and with the ability to upgrade it might be just perfect for my needs, do you think a 3060ti is a nice bump from 3060 laptop? and should i just buy that desktop and then in a months time buy a 3080.??

I don't have the 3060Ti so can't say yes or no. But be sure you get the value from that 1100 spending. I expect you talk about CAD and not U$D. So $830 USD for the whole PC. One thing for sure.... You can't upgrade any laptops. You are stuck with what you have. And you can't put in different graphics card for a bench session. But you can offset some of the cost for a newer graphics card if you find out you want to sell that 3060Ti.

As Brother @Papusanpointed out, upgrade is easy and less expensive on a desktop versus not happening on a modern laptop. What are the rest of the specs? Whether or not that's a good deal would depend on a whole lot more than what GPU that has in it. The one thing that laptops and desktops have in common is horrible value. You get screwed real bad when you buy it new and then anytime you want to sell it you're going to get screwed real bad again because the shafting goes the opposite direction as well. People buying on the used market expect to get things for unreasonably cheap prices... pennies on the dollar.

3060 Ti was a decent GPU. I really liked the one I had. It was respectable at gaming. Best thing to do is get it if it's a good buy on the whole system and upgrade the GPU later. You'll be able to play plenty of games on it without upgrading.

As for what to do with the used GPU, be careful. Don't cave in on used prices and let yourself get screwed. You're better off just having the spare parts collecting dust on the shelf than bending over and taking it in the backside by cheapskates that don't want to pay fair prices for used parts. I had some dipstick on eBay offer me $250 last week for the bundle I have listed in the marketplace. My response was "LoL" but I wanted to respond by telling him of a destination that is hotter than the place I live and that suggestion sort of rhymes with LOL.

Yep, if the rest of the system is good enough then I think @ryaneasly can have a good gaming experience with 3060Ti. Not even sure he need spend more money to buy that 3080. Only if he really see the need or want more benching gears. Sub 900$ is a great price for a gaming rig if the parts match what you get for the price.

https://www.pcworld.com/article/1947085/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-ti-vs-rtx-3060-ti-and-radeon-rx-6700-xt-fight.html

In conclusion for performance: The RTX 4060 Ti is not a worthwhile upgrade over either the RTX 3060 Ti or the AMD 6700 XT. While DLSS 3 and ray tracing performance is better, the lower-resolution entry point limits the appeal. And DLSS 3 is not available on many games, so.......

As you can see... Newer doesn't always mean much better🙂

That is very clean-looking, bro.

As far as selling it, hard to say for sure. White for computers is either loved or hated. The demand for white is very low compared to normal (black) but the passion for it is pretty intense among those who are captivated by it. If a member of the minority that is obsessed with white computer parts sees it they might pay more than you're asking. They're kind of weird that way and they pay extra for white parts when they buy new as well. I think it looks pretty good on someone else's system. I don't mind it and that build looks very good, but I think I would not like it much after a few days after the new wears off. The primary attraction, I think, is that it is different and far from ordinary.

Kind of like having pets. The best pets are those that belong to someone else. You can enjoy them when you visit, but you don't have to incur any costs, worry about taking care of them or cleaning up their messes.

I have built many all white PCs for clients, but never for myself. The main reason is how the color ages on different materials. A couple of years of use and most white components become dull and discolored. Keeping the build clean is much harder, as it will showcase dust far more than darker colors.

I agree with you, you have to really want an all white build. Perhaps why the ASUS Strix 3090 OC White card is still in demand...it goes for 1k whereas most 3090's are around 750 to 900.

This card have been in use near 8 years. I can't see the white color have changed vs cards I have seen in reviews. All cleaning I did after I got it was with the AC blower and a water dampened cloth. And the cleaning took less than 1min. But I expect there is a difference between products and brands. Not all offer the quality you should expect. Reducing cost to maximize profit is the main driver.

its always suprises me when you mention your native language isn't english, yet you type and probably speak it better than me. but yeah it adds up to an okish deal, I wish I had the marbles to just build it myself, but I don't trust myself I always seem to mess up.

I have my laptop undervolted, and scores seem ok with nice temps 70c-80c on gpu and cpu locked lol at 85c...I think its better to have good performance and good temps than excellent performance and terrible temps, at least if you do a little gaming. as for benchmarking my cpu downclocks to 3200 on cinebench r23 not sure why as I have it set to 4.2ghz and the temps are alot better now 63c at 3.2ghz and 80s with 4.2ghz vs 98c at 4ghz(before).

well I tweaked my good laptop beyond belief. 0 gains, osrry its not exciting. but on my ultrabook i did a test of cloudgate with the 16gb newly installed ram 8gb vs 16gb and 3200 vs 2333 i was getting 14000 in cloudgate graphics, then i did the same tweaks on this joke of a laptop and bam after two reboots i went from 30fps in some games to 110fps and my cloudgate score rocketed to 24000 and up. very good. heres a pic and I dont think you can do much more than tweak and add ram to increase performance, but im pretty sure this is close to being a i5 11th gen 1135g4 record 🙂

proof

Screenshot-53.png

just the basic tweaks, chris titus tweaks and maddogs tweaks, can probably bump it higher with eso and shutup

Though it's been a little hot lately (isn't it everywhere?), could use some sort of cooling for benching. That run above was during a "cold" 20c night... 😅

Don't give me too much credit and downplay yourself. I'm sure you have the cojones to do whatever you wish or want. And never ever downplay yourself. That what I have learned in my somewhat long life.

Even JonnyGuru and Corsair have the cojones to try go in the minefield... 12VHPWR angled adapters. Hope they can do it better than CableMod. At least they was smart enough to start in the small. Not offer adapters to everyones custom cards @Rage Set

But I have been in talk with Jonny and he as well see the CM angled adapter have some quality issues. Hope he and his engineers have learned from CableMod/custom brands failures.

I'm the link king and try be spot on...  @electrosoft🙂 But whay are som people (fanboys?) down voting my honest view of some of todays  tech? Is honesty bad nowadays. Too new and modern?

Your laptop 4090 graphics score is on par with desktop 6900/6950 XT scores.

This is not my best score, but I ran it for comparison when I finished work today. This is my work computer. But, for the record, the GPU score is higher, and higher than my highest graphics score with the 6900 XT on chilled water.

This Prema-tized laptop 4090 GPU is going to make some desktop jockeys that haven't upgraded their desktop GPU from RDNA2 not very happy.

There are plenty of good reasons for all of us to be angry at EVERYONE that is in charge of technology right now. The leaders and influencers are all idiots and losers that produce overpriced, broken garbage. Their ability to produce trash, and replicate it, is unmatched by any other industry and it is historically unprecedented.

did u build it for urself or to sell it? not clear on that...in any case, super clean!

Thanks. It is for sale locally. I had to really tame my desire to go full custom loop on this build, otherwise I would be keeping it. Saving bit by bit to get me a set of Vespid Prime lenses.

That made me curious and I had to Google search it because I wasn't sure what it was you were saving for.
