And the card have still the void sticker on one of the screws so it probably need a re-paste. The nice part, this card come with a backplate opposite to the more vanilla (MSI) GTX 960 cards. Fantastic that MSI could afford that. Here's the thing... I always try go the cheapo route if I can. No in Hell I would pay $150 USD as this stupid want for his 8 years old green goblin Edition on ebay. So no difference than with newer cards. No in hell I would paid I cent above $700 for Nvidia's $1199 4080 Scam. Edit. Yup, never re-pasted. Same old dryed out stamp as most of the OEM prefer to use. And no thermal pads for the vram. Can't be cheaper doing it this way.... Finally had the time to take a look on the MSI GeForce GTX 960 GAMING 100ME (Limited Edition). Not a bad sample. Asic 80.8% and +295 on the cores in GPUPI without touching the voltage. And Samsung vram. Yup, not bad. ryan
where is the picture jockey anyways? I just reset my tv as it looked bland, I thought it was just my settings but after doing a full factory reset and setting a few changes, holy smokes does this tv look good at 4k I can't imagine 8k with quantum dot oled. My next TV will be a hisense u88km, or a refurbished q95a samsung. they are both great I was going to buy a OLED tv on janaurary 2nd-9th but I changed my mind I prefer a brighter image vs deeper blacks. @tps3443 talk me out of this one bro, how do you possibly pick a tv or monitor, so many good options. More serious note, I just ordered the tubing for my calculator project, hopefully I will be able to game at 1 frame per 3 seconds in doom on it, not expecting crazy performance like that but yeah back to my orignal argument games have not developed much in 20 years. look at tetris vs crysis, they both trade blows visually and are both mind numbingly complex, then take it further to last of us and you get my point. thing is although games have not advanced much since tetris and minesweeper in their complexities. one tech has advanced beyond comprehension. toasters. nuff said, you want the best buy a toaster NASA did a beam of info in LAZER format, and they are missing the one hallmark of human accomplishment. if the aliens need one fact about us, its that some genius I think it was issac newton. he made the most complex form of tech we know today and its been nearly a century and still nothing has been able to top the toaster. anyone else interested in toasters feel free to post below 3 1 ZEUS-COMING SOON Omen 16 2021 Zenbook 14 oled Vivobook 15x oled

But if I add voltage first with the Asus tool, then I can see the voltage slider in Msi Afterburner being maxed out. Nice. Mr. Fox
Well, I still have to strip the memory heating blankets off once the water cooling jackets arrive. But, it is done otherwise. Seems really solid in terms of performance. Easily running 8000 with zero effort so I anticipate another 8600 daily stable ride here. My IMC SP rating is higher on this one even though the E-core and overall SP rating is lower. Ran a couple of quick benchmarks with cores synched at P-60x, E-47x, 50x cache and no issues. Should be a good daily profile for the CPU, too. I always forget how cheap and flimsy these Apex boards feel compared to the Dark. I think it weighs literally half as much, and both the white one and the black one are not even flat. They have a big bow in the PCB until you bolt it to the chassis. ASUS is just so dad gum chintzy on build quality. I did not realize I was going to lose 4 SATA ports. I had 8 on the Dark. So, now I am short four 1TB drives, so that kind of sucks. I don't know why this has only four SATA ports. I'm glad I have six NVMe drives installed or the missing SATA ports would be an issue. It still kind of is, but I'll get over it in a day or two, LOL. ryan
A few people have disappeared. hopefully like you say all is ok. I wont be getting my van fixed its a total loss to the insurance company so on the upside ill get money but not much as they give the lowest amount possible. van could be worth 8000 but in the kelley blue book its worth 2000.. I can't wait to get a desktop in a few weeks looking forward to it, should be fun and satisfying at the same time. I will either get a A770 if I dont get much, if I get like say 10 000 im going all out much the same way @jaybee83 did but ill skimp on a few things but def a 4090 for gaming and then ill buy a miniled or oled tv as a monitor. very exciting for me. or I could just save my money not sure what will happen but all in good time. Your Z790 chipset is the proper rating whatever it spit back. In my case it has remained the same on Z690 Apex, first Z790 Apex and the Apex Encore. The MC SP varies a few points depending on what time of day it is. I have had the SP rating randomly go bonkers a few times in the past to an insanely high or low number and had to re-flash the BIOS to correct it. @tps3443has experienced the same issue. Sometimes even reflashing doesn't fix it unless you flash down a version then back up. This is my first 13900KS. The second is the same except for a MUCH higher E-core SP rating. For some reason AIDA64 does not "see" the memory temperature sensors on the Encore. They are missing in the list of sensors. 1 hour ago, electrosoft said: and well over on the OCN forums. 🙂 How strange. He and I text all of the time, sometime for hours, and he just went dark. That's the only reason I purchased this to replace the Z690 Dark. Now I am struggling with the idea of selling it. I don't want to, but I know it is going to just sit on the shelf collecting dust. I love that motherboard and the BIOS, but there is no more support for the firmware, so it will never be able to run a 14900K. 🥹 I don't think I will ever stop being sad. I wouldn't be so bad if ASUS didn't suck as much as they do. This second G.SKILL 8000 kit seems every bit as good as the first one in the other Apex. It worked great in the Z690 Dark as well. It is a shame so many of the DDR5 kits being sold are garbage. 1 hour ago, Papusan said: The stupids at Asus engineering team thought it was much better with an 8-pin instead for the 6-pin power connector for the board. My real life usage experience so far is that the Optane SSD has done the following for me over a standard SSD: Much faster hibernation Much faster wake from hibernation Much faster loading times in open world games (Borderlands 3 loads 3X faster off the Optane 905P vs my Samsung 970 Evo Plus) Faster copying of large batches of small files Faster load times for Unity projects Faster webpage loading times Faster code compilation Faster game builds Slightly faster boot times Slightly more responsive OS Optane SSDs greatly benefit games that do a lot of asset streaming because of the mad fast random read speeds. Now that's not the reason I got it, but I might as well put some games on my Optane SSD since I use my computers for both work and play. My workflow has also had some of it's bottlenecks alleviated so I can now spend more time programming rather than waiting. I do use 2 computers while working, but that incurs it's own latency penalty when I need to sync the code I wrote between both computers I use. In short, Optane is definitely worth it for a work computer or if you play a lot of open world games. I strongly recommend an Optane SSD to anyone who does software development like me, works with databases, or mainly plays open world games. I never want to go back to a standard SSD for work. It looks like it will be quite a long while before Optane SSDs will be beat in random reads, and these things are built to last! They can last a lifetime! 2 1 1 2 AlienyHackbook: Alienware M17X R5 | i7-4930MX | GTX 1060 | 32GB DDR3L Kingston HyperX @ 2133 MHz CL 12 | MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 | Windows 10 LTSC | Hackintoshes Rule! It randomly being disabled. The menus are different and the F-key boot options at POST are also different on the Encore versus the original Apex. Not sure what is up with that. If you are wanting CSM for Windows 7, I will send you a link a utility that will allow you to run in pure UEFI with Adjustable Bar working. I installed Windows 7 using it no problem. Now I just need to buy an older GPU that has driver support. (I mentioned this in reply to Suzuki in the Apex thread at HWBOT. Worked perfectly.) Edit: check your email. I just sent it. The Gestapo is trying very hard to cram the new filth up our butts instead of letting us make our own decisions. ASUS is drinking their urine-flavored Kool-Aid. I was able to partially mitigate the loss of SATA ports by installing a second PCIe 4x dual NVMe in the slot above the A770. It did not decrease the 16x slot to 8x. So, I have a dual NVMe PCIe 4x card in both 4x slots now. So, now I am only short two 1TB SSDs from where I was before and I have a place to install Linux without having to sacrifice any storage capacity. I am having a hard time with the idea of turning loose of the Z690 Dark K|NGP|N. It's just too good to let go. I should sell it. That would be the most intelligent thing to do, but sometimes what I want gets in the way of what makes sense. I was thinking of selling the Praxis Wetbench also. Maybe I will keep both, leave it in my closet and break it out when I need a test bench. I have a spare 13900K, my generic A-die, lots of spare NVMe and SATA SSDs, a spare EK 360 AIO that is new (used only for a review) and a 1200W PSU so I could have a complete third setup if I grab a used GPU for cheap. Yeah... I need that like a need a hole in the head. I could use it for old GPU benching like you do. Somebody needs to stop me, LOL. According to the review, the listing is slightly misleading as you actually will only receive one heatsink in total with each side representing one of the pieces (hence, 2 pieces). They do look very much like the Byski ram jackets on the DDR4 I picked up from you a few years ago (which are still powering the Mrs. rig at 1:1 4133 on that 12900k). On 12/29/2023 at 12:43 PM, Mr. Fox said: Oh no. I did not. Thank you. I ordered a second kit so now it will be Sunday instead of tomorrow. He was right. One per package. Not unusual for these. I have needed to purchase them individually from Bykski in the past. The issue is misleading photographs and product description of "2 pieces" not the cost per module. Anyhoo... I got them installed and the RAM on water. With air cooling the RAM overclocked to 8200 was hitting 65°C and erring out on TM5. Temps reduced about 24°C and zero errors now. Things are as they should be again. A couple of observations. This G.SKILL kit was white. The white color is low quality paint. The lacquer thinner used to dissolve the adhesives started stripping the paint. This has never happened with black so they must have used a very poor quality paint. Acrylic and Polyurethane enamels are not harmed by lacquer thinner. Second observation... appears they are binning these modules. There are handwritten markings on an IC on each module similar to what I saw on the 3090 KPE, which EVGA confirmed are from binning. 1 1 1 Wraith // Z790 Apex | 14900KS | 4090 Suprim X+Byksi Block | 48GB DDR5-8600 | Toughpower GF3 1650W | MO-RA3 360 | Hailea HC-500A || O11D XL EVO Banshee // X870E Carbon | 9950X | 4090 Gaming OC+Alphacool Block | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1200x SHIFT | XT45 1080 Nova || Antec C8 Spectre // Z790i Edge | 13900KS | 3090 Ti FTW3 | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1000e | EK Nucleus CR360 Direct Die || Prime A21 Half-Breed // Dell Precision 7720 | BGA CPU Filth+MXM Quadro P5000 | 4K Display | Sub-$500 Grade A Refurb | Nothing to Write Home About Mr. Fox YouTube Channel | Mr. Fox @ HWBOT The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes. Mr. Fox
Happy New Year, my friends. May the coming year be emotionally, spiritually and financially prosperous for you and your loved ones. May your lives be filled with love, health and happiness. May the peace of God that passes all understanding be upon you. May our enemies, foreign and domestic, be scattered as dust in the wind. May those who have sought to destroy us, including the wicked ones working from within our borders, meet with death, destruction and pestilence as their evils deeds come undone. 4 Wraith // Z790 Apex | 14900KS | 4090 Suprim X+Byksi Block | 48GB DDR5-8600 | Toughpower GF3 1650W | MO-RA3 360 | Hailea HC-500A || O11D XL EVO Banshee // X870E Carbon | 9950X | 4090 Gaming OC+Alphacool Block | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1200x SHIFT | XT45 1080 Nova || Antec C8 Spectre // Z790i Edge | 13900KS | 3090 Ti FTW3 | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1000e | EK Nucleus CR360 Direct Die || Prime A21 Half-Breed // Dell Precision 7720 | BGA CPU Filth+MXM Quadro P5000 | 4K Display | Sub-$500 Grade A Refurb | Nothing to Write Home About Mr. Fox YouTube Channel | Mr. Fox @ HWBOT The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes.
