I know it's weird, but I plan on getting a 2tb drive soon. I'm weird about my storage and like having my OS and files I hoard on one drive, and then all of my games, DAWs, and larger programs on the other. In my P870, the split is 500gb OS drive and then a 1tb game/program drive, so for this build I'm doubling that. I was planning this build in early December and regret not buying the SSDs then. I heard that China was buying up a lot of the SSDs, but I thought I still had time...

Yeah, I plan on checking the heatsink out once I install my GPU. Too lazy to tear it apart lol

I believe the X3D chips are more power limited due to the worsened heat transfer from having the stacked cache (hence having lower boost clocks compared to their non X3D counterparts). It could also just be that I got a really bad 7600x. I hope it's not that!

Nope, your temps are just about right where they need to be with CB23 and especially with Prime95. I think you got a very decent 7600x with temps capping at ~80c on CB23.

Wow! That’s a really good buy! I don’t think my Apex has a U.2 though. Maybe there is an adapter. I really want one of those. I’ve consolidated down to a single Gen4 2TB M.2, and I find my self clearing clutter to add more clutter sometimes. 8TB for $400 is amazing.

Yes!!! YES!!! YES!!! That is a good one for sure! I tested one similar to that, and it was a mean chip!

Here is my 14900KF R-batch chip I got from Germany; this is actually the very first time pressing the gas on it. Chip is 100% stock and not delidded at all. I love it so much. This is also the first time buying a binned CPU and actually being 100% pleased with it, even after paying through my teeth. I have hundreds of hours on it already in my daily work rig, and I just love it lol.

I might take you up on that. Turning loose of hardware that I am not using is painful and I have kind of a stupid fear of not having spare parts available as backups. But, I need to learn to let things go.

I sure do like how this 2080 Ti Waterforce GPU looks. It has a chunky and menacing look to it that makes me feel like smiling. I know it doesn't mean something works well just because it looks nice. In fact, we see too many examples of things that look very nice and do not work very well. But it's extra good when you can enjoy both.

Hmmmm. RTX 4070 SUPER BAD Sales Leak... THIS is why the 4070 SUPER is selling badly…

This fits very well from the video above. 4070 Super should have had 16GB vram. If Nvidia is smart they should limit the launch of 4070 TI Super cards so people are forced to buy cards they don't want. And a limited run of 4070 Ti Super cards will help Nvidia to get rid of all coming 4080 Super cards as well the +$1199 EOL 4080s flooding the Stores.

NEWS

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER already spotted below MSRP in Europe

Yup, no problem get loads of 4070 Super cards here home. And we have a flood of the 4070 as well.

You and @Tenoroon will also have the chance to to see if Galax also this time offer an better vbios than what you find with the average or the so called OC SKUs of nvidia graphis cards. So "flashing" has to be todays word🙂

GALAX will offer many HOF SUPER versions

Edit. Forgot... Congrats with the new card you as well 🙂 The new all black FE color theme/design is beautiful.

4070 Super delivered today! Beautiful card, honestly awesome looking little card.

+2000Mhz to the memory looks to be a go lol! I got the new MSI Afterburner, card locks out at 1115mV on voltage which is nice to see I can push it up a bit. Will test stock vBIOS and then flash unlimited powwah.

So interesting discovery, these cards appear to have some SUPER GDDR6X. I am running this card with the '21gbps memory' at 26... at 26.5 it finally crashes. That is just ridiculous. My best guess is that this is a 23gbps chip put on the 4070 Super because it's what they had on hand.

MSI Afterburner 2000Mhz limit was no challenge at all. I had to download Asus Tweak III to set the slider to 26500. Insane.

Stupidity knows no shame. NUC had a place. Perfect for basic web browsing and light productivity at $200 or less. A "gaming NUC" is an idiotic concept and destined for failure like the nitwits and losers that embrace the idea. Asus will always find a way to package grossly overpriced trash under a "gaming" label and use it to screw stupid adults and gullible children. That is who they are and how they roll. There is no bottom to their trash barrel, other than the bottom that deposits digital excrement like this. Some people would buy a bucket filled with dung if it had RGB.

The world should always expect "great" things from the people who gave us COVID. A "gaming NUC" is a digital example of what can be accomplished through gain of function technology. Maybe Dr. Faucci was part of their development team.

Wow! I’m impressed 15K in PR out of a 4070 Super for $599.99?. What a value!

I might grab one of the 4070Ti Supers since they are 16GB. Or just the 4080 Super.

Either one is a great value for $799 and $999 though.

I just want less power consumption, for less burden on my chiller. My 3090kp is fast but it’s a total power hog.

Finally qualified, requalified and then moved my X670E Carbon from the test bench back into the big rig and pulled the MSI Z790i Edge. Unlike with the 7800X3D, I'm running the 7950X3D with the offset AC LF II 420mm mounting vs the EVGA CLC 360mm.

As for my 7800X3D, I had enough components to put together a very nice 7800X3D rig that someone snagged on eBay.

I've been doing more testing between the 13900ks and 7950X3D (I had amassed a lot of data the last few weeks on the MSI Z790i + 13900KS setup w/ tuned 8000 memory) and the AM5 rig consistently and brutally beats it in Fallout 76 both avg and 1% avg. In the most problematic spots in Fallout 76 for testing we are talking 89fps vs 115fps because Fallout 76 loves that 3D V-cache.

On the other hand, 13900KS rules the roost in WoW......

Having run the MSI Z790i + SP115 13900KS + G.Skill 8000 (@8000) for a few months now as my daily driver on desktop while I sorted out my AM5 motherboard issues, I have to say I was equally pleased with it too.

Since I'm over the sff phase (a couple of trips with it let me know a laptop is there for a reason but that's a tale for another post), I'll  be listing my MSI Z790i Edge + SP115 13900KS + 8000 32GB soon on OCN and eBay for $1000 for the combo  I also listed my AM5 setup as one of them has to go (but I prefer AM5 this time around overall so I'd rather see the Intel items sell first 🙂 ).

AM5 back in action!

@electrosoft My first AMD system ever. Got it for free. Can it match your more modern AMD Ryzen setup?😁 And this means none can call me Intel fanboy, HaHa

A free Bulldozer setup, eh. I did not know you were in the e-waste disposal business.

So, you will be clicking the "start" button in Cinebench R23 before you go to bed and hope it is done in time for breakfast?

Edit: here goes Mr. Pottymouth on an AMD rant, LOL. Such a dufus.

I could have used that MSI Z790i Edge + 13900KS combo a couple weeks ago, but alas I picked up the mobo on Amazon. I also decided to use my 12900KS in my "project".

So crazy to think about. For the first time ever, I am down to one Nvidia GPU. I have two AMD GPUs and one Intel. Even my "stock" of CPUs is low. I do want a 13900KS or 14900K for my personal rig, but I waiting for a bargain.

It's all good brother. 🙂 I have it listed over on OCN and on fleabay. I'm kinda tempted to swap the 12900k in the wife's system with the 13900KS and sell that and the MSI and memory or pull her Z690 Strix D4 w/ 32GB B-die and 12900k and sell that and swap in the MSI setup just to keep it in the family for future considerations.

All clear on mine. What is this supposed to show? Is it an issue with the card if it had logged errors?

Here we go.... Having the flag "remapping failure occured : yes" which is enough to qualify for RMA..

Should have listed it here. I very likely would have bought it from you since it would have been ready to go, priced reasonably (I hope LOL), and with no fleBay tax, you certainly would have had more cash in your pocket. Oh well.

As neat as my cheap RTX 4060 is, it's also struggling mightily in some of the more intensive games I have in my back catalog, at least when running at anything resembling quality visual settings. I found an open box RX 7800 XT at the local MC for $450 that I'm planning to grab today. While it won't give double the performance given it's almost twice as much as what I paid for the 4060, the boost will be enough to provide a more playable experience at non-potato settings. It should also make the entire setup more sellable down the road.

True, but I always find listing on forums nets me less as the buyer pool is smaller and they are much more, um, frugal with their funds expecting some hefty discounts so it comes down to listing on eBay or listing on both.

This is the 7800X3D setup I sold here for 789.99 + S&H no GPU.

I listed both my motherboard setups on eBay for $100 more than the forums to offset the ebay fees and buyers will also have to pay tax on top of that.

The more I'm thinking about it, I'm really tempted to swap in the MSI 13900ks setup for the Asus Z690 D4 12900k setup on the wife's desktop. I'm going to mull that over the next several days.

4060 is just not a good card if you're trying to push anything modern with decent settings these days. Sometimes it is worth it to pay a little bit more and get a much better card which the 7800XT is both in horsepower and Vram.

Edit:

I'll also use this post to ask you about POST times. Even with the latest BIOS, it takes about 20-30 seconds for it to just POST which is a tad annoying. Are the POST times for your Carbon similar?

So I went and checked with my dialed in A-die Hynix sticks (2x32GB 6000) and to boot with the newest BIOS it takes 63 seconds from power on to post MSI logo.

I wonder if MSI BIOS has a similar BIOS option as ASUS where you can tell it to not retrain memory every startup and do a check which is what AM5 does by default on start up. The more you deviate from JEDEC (fastest 4800)  or EXPO timings the longer it can take to post as it checks everything.

The downside is if there is a problem or error it won't find it on post check but in your OS but if you know your memory settings are locked in, tested and sound an option to skip memory retraining every power on would be nice.
