And for MSI.... The new Lightning cards can only be different in design and function (5 fans) but nothing more. Just a better cooling to squize out 1 or 2 bin higher boost clocks than all of the pack so called high end flagship cards. 

 

Edit. And who knows... Maybe Nvidia once again start offer the Ti variant or a Titan for 3000$ a few months after the release of 5090.

Enthusiast Gamer PC = Console = everyone gets a trophy for participation = every enthusiast gamer experience is the same ...but PC costs more. Because they can, and PC enthusiasts gamers continue saying yes to getting screwed.

Props for him basically telling Asus to kick rocks though.....

 

He liked PNY but time and priorities makes total sense and I would love to see him create an AMD Kingpin card. Total shock to the system.

At the start, Nvidia was fully an enthusiast company but over each generation Jensen has gone full Steve Jobs and continues to try and take control of everything. Seriously, if they had the production capacity of Apple, I think they would even stop selling to AIBs.

 

But in Nvidia's defense, it isn't like AMD doesn't compete with their own board partners too with their in house reference designs.

 

Definitely a Titan this time around if it appears at all. A 5090ti makes zero sense when a $3k+ Titan makes all the sense in the world on many levels.

Yep, I think they want the creators money so a Titan class is in the cards. As well a xx80 Ti for the gamers at $1500.

It’s kind of random which models have DP 2.1a or DP2.1b. Like the Zotac AMP Extreme even has 2.1b lol, but the Suprim doesn’t. This is pretty silly.

I am excited to get one though. I will probably try to snag a Founder Edition model first, and if I can’t, I will get an Astral.
 

Being completely honest, there’s not a huge selection of models. Would love to see some more options from Gigabyte/Aorus maybe even PNY as well. 

 

 

dont worry about DP 2.1a vs. 2.1b. ALL RTX 5000 series sport DP 2.1b. the standards are interchangeable, 2.1b is basically just a functionality update with regards to active cables. thus, 2.1b = 2.1a with active cables, thats it.

 

look again at the specs page @Papusan just posted for the Suprim:

 

since 2.1b was only just announced at CES, im guessing not all vendors have updated their GPU specs yet, thats it 🙂 

 

btw, interesting to see that the Astral weighs about 200g more or roughly +7% vs. the Suprim. I wonder if this is due to extra heatpipes, larger VC or if thats just due to the extra fan....hmmm

That astral is a CHONKER! Part of me wants to try for an FE model just to see how I like it. It’s probably going to be $400-$500 dollars cheaper as well. It has Liquid Metal so I imagine the cooling will still be very good compared to the larger 3 slot cards. 
 

Are you avoiding the FE model? I’m mainly interested due to price. If I can save $300-$500 dollars then heck yes! 
 

But yeah the Astral looks great! I am probably going to put either one on water. So the more I save the better. I am considering the Asus TUF as well. I guess the 4090 Strix/TUF were always identical in the past, I’m not sure if the same thing will happen this gen though.
