That gives me the greatest amount of pause because I do like RT a lot. Even though I do not play games that often, when I do I gravitate towards FPS titles that have ray tracing and/or path tracing. It makes things look so much better and when the GPU does not support it I noticed immediately. Things look so much more cartoonish without it.

I absolutely agree. When RT is an option, I always enable it. Once you see it in action you can immediately tell when you disable it.

 

I've lost count how many times I've argued with WoW players trying to defend AMD and when they see their 7900xtx start performing like a 3080 w/ RT on their immediate response is, "it's a waste of time anyhow lulz. Turn it off!"

So I take it MSI is off the table for all of us in the US till  06-02-2025 for 5090/5080? They aren't launching theirs till next week. Even B&H says preorders start on the 6th vs tomorrow.

Hmmm. El Chapuzas 5080 review sample did 500 on  the core and got 3.165MHz while Frame chasers sample did 475 on the core and +3.232MHz overclock. Hmm. Nice.

 

And I'm quite sure many samples offer ghost clocks (clock stretching). That's because the voltage is most likely too low for the showed overclock. But people think it's correct what their eyes see, so.... 

 

Lower boost clock but still beat Frame Shasers TIME SPY oc results. Anyone that can see the ghost here?

Almost no 5090 SKU's for sale. Only two different SKUs readyfor sale. But customers can pick up 5 of the cards if they are lucky. Nice. Why not 10 or 15 for each customers?

 

Nice. Faulthy PCIe finger design? And the 5090 cooler struggle more with the much smaller die.

Newegg pulled all of their 5080/5090 URL's so bots cannot snag them! This was a very smart move. Bots can only buy something if the link is copied and pasted and setup with the bot for the product pages of each item the person is trying to buy, and it refreshes and adds to the cart and automatically buys it. Without any URL's, bots are useless if I am understanding this correctly. 

If you search for 5090 on Newegg nothing comes up at all.

They had a few 5090's listed (if you know the URL or save it, you can get to it for now), but now it's just the FE and Gigabyte AORUS Master 5090 listed.

 

FYI, the AORUS Master 5090 is $2529 at BB.

 

Apparently Best Buy continues to refine their system to prevent bots and snipers. I know with the FE it is one per customer and that is for the life of the account for that card.

 

When I bought a FE 4090 last year, I tried to purchase another one when it became available just to see if it was true and it is. Even months later, it wouldn't let me buy it saying I had already purchased one.

 

I hope this extends to all their high demand GPUs now but we will see tomorrow.

afaik this only referred to their official MSI store on their website. they confirmed that other retailers "could" actually have 5090 skus on launch day:

Apparently those prices and those benchmarks and all the naysayers mean nothing as i just rolled through Microcenter parking lot and people have been camped out there for almost a week with their pop tents. The whole parking lot is full of cars. Like full as if they were open in the middle of Christmas season! and those tents are going around the store and down the street. 😂

Here at home. There should be 7 available when the stores open the sales (only Gigabyte). And Norway's largest online price guide has one SKU listed. High end 4000 series is almost empty. And Nvidia have problem push out 5000 series cards? All is about AI. But as we can see... Nvidia shares have dropped the last days 🙂

If i don't get one this week i'll try to get one next week or the following week after that. 5090 of course, but it it's not all cracked up to what it should be, then i'll just put around with a 5080 till the 5090 ti comes out.

Just seen a video of Mr Moore state as fact that they have 67/199 cards total.

 

Now watching some of those videos so i can scope out a decent tent to go grab. I already have powered frige-freezer/microwave/2 solar powered generator/small space heater/twin air mattress/ heater/laptop/tablet/phones/thick blanket/pillow/music.... 😂

I'm definitely not planning on buying a 5090. There is just no value whatsoever in it at the current pricing. I think this is also going to keep the used resale prices of desirable 30- and 40-series GPUs at or above their original new price as they currently are. Very bad days to be a PC enthusiast of any kind. 

 

If I had to buy a new GPU the only one that makes a lick of sense based on price is 5080. That is more or less the functional equivalent of buying a rebranded 4090 with less VRAM for $1000-$1250 (excluding the A$$zeus priced-for-idiots options). Paying roughly double for 5090 while getting a 20-25% performance gain, at best, just isn't worth considering. I'm glad I have two 4090s and aa 3090 Ti. No need to do anything.

 

This industry needs a hard reset on everything. The entire PC overclocking enthusiast/PC gamer realm has pretty much just turned into a gigantic clown show with grossly overvalued parts that are mostly sucky trash when you pull back the curtain. Looking at stock photos of 50-series GPUs online, a whole lot of ithem even look pretty chintzy. The joke is on consumer more than ever before.
