The 5090 scalper prices on eBay have reached an all time low. So that’s definitely GOOD!!

Based on previous purchasing trends, Late April/Early May is my "secure by" month that would match 4090 Liquid and 3090 KPE at MSRP.

The fact I dropped $2k on a 3090 KPE in 2020 which is $2428 in today dollars and balking at the same cost range (for the most part) for a 5090 is telling.....

$2499.99 for a KPE 3090ti in 2022 = 2681 in today dollars.

Hmmm, maybe my apathy lies elsehwere?

This weekend's joke. If people buy a mid range card as Radeon card for $2000 they need seek help. Same also for scalpers that think this is an good idea.

AMD's just-launched RDNA4 GPUs are now hitting marketplaces at over three times the MSRP.

Unlike Nvidia, this will quickly run its course. Much greater supply and less demand overall.

The OG 3090KP was really a great value for the $1,949 MSRP. Being that It was actually cheaper than the 3090 Strix air cooled model and slightly faster right out of the box than future released 3090Ti FE.

If there was a Kingpin now, it would be crazy expensive probably. If the Astral is still $4,000-$4,500. I’d say at least that much.

Original KPE 3090 was $1999.99 on launch

Price wise, it was $500 more than the 3090 MSRP ($1500), but it was still a fantastic card overall.

MSRP for Astral is $3079.99 which is just bonkers though which is $3284 after tax for me.

The hope for value is still to land an FE for $1999.99.....

If there was a KPE 5090, I could easily see it being ~$3199

You need to compare  KP with the Astral LC version that is $3408.99

You wouldn't see 5090 KP at $3199. Nope. $3500 + tax.

Some of the 9070xt's are already closer to $1k at MSRP right out of the gate unfortunately....

Gotta hope to snipe a $600 model during these early days but as I said, the AMD scalping will be nothing like Nvidia scalping simply due to supply and demand. Watch how fast prices fall on eBay over the next few weeks.

I have zero problems NOT buying a 9070xt same as the 5090.

---

"easily" = that's just a conservative estimate and price would most likely be higher. 🙂

This 5080 FE really is holding it down. Aesthetically, I'd like a 4090 FE as that massive slab would look even better in my rig with it's industrial black and grey tones everywhere but performance wise, I'm good to go. A 5090 would be a pure, unneeded luxury buy at this point simply because I can afford it no problem. Smart buy? Nope. Fun buy? Yep.

I may keep an eye out for a well priced used 4090 FE just for the build look.

Amazon and eBay are like the new gangster's paradise. It's not a new problem, but it is always sad and painful to see such idiotic prices, and even more painful to know there are imbeciles that actually pony up for absurd prices. Just look at this ridiculous poop-for-brains nonsense.

It’s really a great platform! It has been crazy reliable. I wasn’t expecting to like it this much. But it’s a great platform.

I really like it. Very awesome, unlike anything current. It was made during a time before gamers and overclockers started being viewed  (and treated) as though  all of us are trash-gobbling idiots that are too stupid to know when we are getting screwed over by the component manufacturers. I think we could bet our paychecks that it would be a half-assed piece of garbage if it was a newly released product.

I have torn down my entire test bench in a matter of minutes. I plan to hook the laptop up to the chiller now 😂 I’m joking. But I do have the pumpas ready to go in new rig. Going to tear them down for inspection. But chilled water doesn’t grow anything so it’s amazing how all of the parts are just pure spotless inside.

If they do not fall then 5070 Ti will be the better option. It's a better product by most measurements at the same price. The 9070 XT is only the better option when it is available for at least $100+ cheaper. In terms of performance it falls short of being equal and it cannot compete based on features.

I wonder how long it takes before Nvidia will answer AMD for mid end. Maybe they don't bother because they produce so few cards. But losing market shares will hurt their self respect.

With such small dies they use for mid end geforce graphics chips  I can't imagine they lose much silicon wafers they instead could use for AI chips/workstation cards.

It's hard to say. It seems like having our respect does not matter to them. Maybe they care about self-respect. I think that the only thing they give a damn about is money. They obviously didn't care enough about anything  else seeing how they released 50 series video cards with manufacturing defects. It is so special when you get raped financially and get a broken piece of crap in return for that. Jensen would probably kill his own mama for a few bucks.

The New Normal......

More pc gamers will see the same. As I have posted several times... More and more PSUs come with almost no 8 pins connectors anymore  beacuse all the focus is on 12V-2x6 connectors. Some come even with two of them for 1000W SKUs and measly 3x 8 pins connectors on the PSU panel.

You can see the stupid engineering choices here... and here

image.png

The golden fix for modern pc users... Steal one of the two 8pin connectors for the CPU. Why not take both if you need it bro @Mr. Fox🤪

And with a proper pc chassis you can put in a second PSU without problems if needed...

Looks like the scam I thought I was seeing is actually what is happening. If this is not illegal it sure as heck should be. Companies that do this need to be bankrupted. They don't deserve to survive.

That is very similar to 3090 Ti in that benchmark.

The air cooled stock 9070XT is still faster than the worlds fastest watercooled tapped out XOC’d 3090Ti. I think that’s pretty good. Shame these AIB’s and Retailers are a whole bunch of scammers/scalpers. And now the 9070XT price is just too high to make sense.

$600 is good. But I think everyone as a whole needs to stop buying graphics cards. I cannot support this horrible market we’re in.

I am still trying to buy one, but not for more than $600. The ASUS Prime 9070 XT OC is in stock at both Chicago area Microcenters for $599.99 and I have messaged a couple of friends in that area to see if they can grab one for me. If I cannot buy one for about $600 then I won't own one.

I totally agree. The only way this is going to get fixed is for PC components to be very seldom ever purchased for more than MSRP and products start rotting on store shelves and warehouse pallets and only being sold at a loss  as EOL products that fewer people want. This is worse with GPUs than anything else, but it happens with quite a few other things to a slightly less egregious degree.

You can see the stupid engineering choices here... and here

The golden fix for modern pc users... Steal one of the two 8pin connectors for the CPU. Why not take both if you need it bro @Mr. Fox🤪

And with a proper pc chassis you can put in a second PSU without problems if needed...

when at first i got my TX1600 ATX2.4 version I was wondering to myself if i should later upgrade to the ATX3.1 version. i am sooo glad that i didnt.  all 8pin goodness on the PSU side, enough wattage for two 12v2x6 connectors, super quiet and efficient and 12 years (or rather 10 left) of warranty. will not need another psu for a long time!

i have a wattmeter permanently hooked up to my rig and the highest ive seen thus far was 1125W or 70% of stock psu capacity. i think ill be good even with a 5090 and a 9950X3D in there 🙂
