I received these and got them set up on my work rig. Just... wow... much better display quality than my older ASUS 4K 120Hz display, and these actually even look nicer when turned off. The ASUS screen has a wide bezel and ugly chassis with absurd RGB garbage on the back and a chintzy snap on plastic panel that makes accessing the connections inconvenient. I have never been overly thrilled with how it looks sitting on my desk. (Typical tacky-looking ASUS aesthetics.) And, I don't like that is uses a power brick like a turdbook. That is the only monitor I have owned that is made that way and it sucks.

nice loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong desktop 😄 yeah the image quality is something u may read a lot about in reviews but i find it something different still to actually experience it in person 🙂 enjoy those new displays!

7900xtx is still a beast, period.

Still trading blows with the 4080 and 5080 in raster and the 9070xt at best can match it but usually loses in raster plus you get 24GB.

Blocking and pushing 600w? Definitely let's see those results. 🙂

ikr, lets see what an AMD RTX-4090 equivalent would look like on equal power footing!

welp....this just goes to show how dire the situation must be at Intel that they go the bean counter route now....ugh

I definitely see why you got the 18” Raider now for sure though. 4090 Mobile is on point for the next few years. Your battery life and temps must be pretty good with the AMD chip. I’d love to have a AMD X3D laptop chip with RTX4090 Max Q! 🤤

LOL i had to laugh hard at this, so basically owning a 4090 absolutely MAXIMIZES your chances of "winning" that 5090 purchase lottery... thats crazy.

322 out of total 820 4090 owners got an email, thats 39.3%

37 out of 1847 non-4090 owners got en email, thats 2.0%

thus, owning a 4090 increases your chances by 20-fold(!!!), insane 😄

So I think being an enthusiast increases your chances. Many of the people selected owned a RTX 4090, 4090 laptop, previously owned a 3090, 2080, 1080. Nvidia can see all of our hardware history and gaming activity.

So, I truly believe Nvidia is selecting real hardware enthusiast lol.

They're catching a lot of flack and ridicule from every direction, as they should. They've had plenty of recent missteps and failures. So, I suspect they want 4090 owners buying the 5090 for publicity, maybe hoping for demonstration what they believe will be a massive upgrade (extra fake frames and software wizardry give that appearance) so that owners of 4090 will post about publicly. I suspect this is an entirely self-serving marketing strategy for them to whatever extent it is relevant. I think it would be naive for any of us to believe for a minute it has something to do with caring about what PC enthusiasts want, or believing that there is any degree of merit or value they place on us. Some of them might care a little bit, but their primary focus is generating revenue from business-facing clientele. We are kind of like a side job for them to tinker with to avoid boredom.

Probably the primary thing they value from PC enthusiasts is positive publicity. They do not get any free advertisements from their business clientele.

And yeah, this cycle is going to be another "meh" for gains on laptops for GPU until Nvidia has another proper node shrink or unclenches their cheeks and allows AIBs to have custom power profiles beyond 175w which would be ideal. Something built like a P870TM that could sustain a 300w GPU and 200w+ CPU along with dual PSUs if needed...kind of like an X170KM/SM on steroids.

As for that poll, lol high end 4090 enthusiasts continuing to be enthusiasts for the 5090.

In real market share, the 4090/5090 is a halo/unicorn product even when readily available and percentage wise sells to a very small demographic. Most gamers are not dropping anywhere near $1500 for a GPU let alone $2k+. They are buying right around $600 or below.

Just about everyone in this thread is an outlier in regards to PC hardware we own.

The bulk of sales end up being 3060/7600 type class cards and below when market cycles are finished. You might even be able to factor in 5070 ($550) when all is said and done but it is more the former than the latter.

This data doesn't reflect 5060/5050 or 9060 or below cards which aren't introduced yet.

Not so sure gamers will throw their money out the door on so called cheaper "new" 8GB cards anymore. They will spend more money than what they want forwards. The ASP will increase. Not due scalpers/greedy AIB partners but the cheaper options won't be a good choice.  Gone is the days you would be happy with  $500 purchase. And $500 cards will be seen as low end today.

Steam hardware survey begs to differ:

https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

Budgets never change. Real life never changes. Those on controlled budgets can only spend so much and they will continue to find the best solution that fits within their budget.

This is why even generations ago, mid tier and below class cards dominate and will continue to dominate.

We live in a bubble in this thread not realizing how good we have it overall. Go to just about any Joe Gamer and talk about dropping $1k+ on a gaming GPU let alone $2k+ for a gaming GPU and they look at you like you're nuts.

Most gamers just want to load up games and play and have no problems adjusting settings (or letting the game adjust to their hardware) and playing. They don't measure fps or benchmark or tune systems. They slap in a card (or have a place slap it in for them or buy a pre-built) and just use their computers as is.

I do agree with you the ASP will continue to increase simply because inflation and costs continue to increase and companies will not give up their profits in any way, shape or form unless demand sharply decreases.

I would argue though most gamers are more than happy with their mid tier purchases.

And the last three cycles have shown us, and will again when all is said and done, that the 060/070 cards will dominate in market share.

There has been a rumor floating around that 5090m will be back to 200W power limit. Something about it being said on a Lenovo livestream. It may make sense if 24GB GDDR7 draws more power than 16GB and eats into that 175W budget. This also corresponds with other things I have observed like the 5090m having more power phases compared to 4090m.

There are lots and lots of casual gamers. A lot more than those that refer to themselves as "hardcore gamer" (LOL). They use cheap parts and turn down settings, and they are pleased to no end to get 60 FPS at 1080p. Probably the majority. They have RGB so they pretend it is awesome even when it is not.

No idea if it is accurate, but what I have heard is they overclock pretty well, but performance does not scale and actually might see some regression in performance without a lack of stability.

Those on low budget buy cheaper cards as 200-300$ and play older/cheaper games.... But new times means mid range cards is now above $600. And newer AAA games demand better than low tier 200-300$ cards.

It's for a reason we got Gaming In the Cloud. HW has become more expensive and lower end graphics cards struggle to give you an good experience with newer games people want to play.

I think there could be a significant number that say no to the cheapest cards because the cost is still more than their budget. Kind of like how some of us say "hell no" to 5090 scalper prices. The MSRP of the cheapest GPUs will be more than some are able or willing to spend. Potentially quite a few. This may also keep demand and prices of used obsolete GPUs higher than they would have otherwise been. These are the people that love their $150 RX 580 are GTX 1550 GPUs. Will they pay $300 for the same tier of performance? Not sure, but I would take a guess the answer is no.

I think there could be a significant number that say no to the cheapest cards because the cost is still more than their budget. Kind of like how some of us say "hell no" to 5090 scalper prices. The MSRP of the cheapest GPUs will be more than some are able or willing to spend. Potentially quite a few.

Hence they are forced into Gaming In the Cloud. Sad reality if you want to game the newest game titles. And games has become more taxing on the graphics cards.
