damn thats crazy, right smack between the 3090 Ti and 4090, talk about bang per buck!

Yes. Pretty respectable at 4K and with RT on as well. Something AMD has always struggled with. This GPU was less than half the price of my "inexpensive" Gigabyte 4090. Although 4090 is clearly better, it is not scaling with price and is not giving double the performance. It's roughly one-third the price of what I paid for the 4090 Suprim. It's nice you can finally run ray tracing on a red card without it collapsing into a nasty-looking slide show.

dude, congratz! im jealous, although the stream of 5090s available for purchase has been quite constant recently, MSI cards are few and far between. most of them are basic zotac / gainward / palit cards, which i have zero interest in. and the few MSIs are either ventus / gaming trio or the liquid SOC. the only place im seeing the air cooled SOC is on ebay, ugh...

im like you in this regard, when spending such a huge amount of money i damn well sure get the card i actually want!

Exactly.

I have no desire for any other cards except the FE, Suprim or Astral aka small, medium and large in pricing choices.

AMD did say they made gains in RT with RDNA4 and they weren't lying. It flat out beats the 7900xtx while also being within respectable distance of it with raster.

Bring on the 9070xtx w/ 24GB for "$749.99"

----------------------------

Oh, and MSI 18" Raider is now $5099.99 for the 9950HX3D w/ 5090....

Looks like they did away with the Steelseries KB too so might have to run their Mystic Light software.....eww.

anyways, my 9950X3D will be arriving tomorrow, so thats nice at least 🙂

Thanks 🙂

Hmmm. From what I have seen... +95% of all 5090's sold here home have been Asus. The shop offer 31 different SKUs and probably divided into 12-15 different brands of 5090's.

I would never ever buy a SKU or brand I don't like. And every single custom 5090 is heavly overpriced so it really doesn't matter if I pay slight more for what I want. If I can't find what I want then I wait. And you can't buy the FE or MSRP cards at MSRP. Then you have the used market here home. The Asus cards (Strix or flagship) offer good used value and the loss will be less when you sell it later.

Fun facts.... A flood of 5070's is listed for sale and almost empty for any AMD 9700(XT) cards. Nvidia need to rebate the xx70 cards or they will lose the mid end market to AMD. Or maybe they hope the xx60(Ti) will save the day? Cheaper to produce (defective silicon) so Nvidia can recup some of the loss in mid end.

And whats weird... I mean there is minimale differences between 5070Ti and the 5080's components. And Nvidia should have made more 5080's from the silicon (Both use GB203). But thats not what I see here. Maybe because of AMD put all the money on mid tier cards?

Diverse threads grants more exposure for the forum, and allows for threads to retain their topics. Only posting them to 2-3 threads reduces visibility and muddies the waters for parent threads.

You clearly put in a lot of effort in posting news, All that I ask is that you make the attempt to put it where it can go.

I look at it this way, if the current stuff is boring then it gives you a chance to go back and experiment with the older stuff, maybe pick up a tip or trick here and there which might serve you well in future XOC experiments.

I have mostly been tied up with homelab related stuff but I still keep looking for stuff from 10-15 years ago to pick up. Hard to believe a 4870 x2 is around 200+ right now lol, but it ebbs and flows I suppose.

I might pick up a single 5870 just for some tri-fire. Common knowledge of the era is Crossfire will be stronger than a 5970, perhaps the arctic cooler can allow me to OC it to make it a better pair with an HD 5870 at least until I can source another Arctic Cooling heatsink for another 5970.

You mean I should create new threads for different news or a news thread for tech news? Then link back and or forwards?

Intel lists Panther Lake listed as Q1 2026 launch, but early enablement will start this year

During a special event in China, Intel presented its latest Core Ultra products as well as the current roadmap. The company claims to be launching the Core Ultra series, codenamed “Panther Lake,” in Q1 2026.

Edit. Please delete. Thanks.

Hmmm. Maybe the reason is this easy ? The chinese people/Asia elite have never forgotten where they come from... I can see the same here... Everyhing is wrong with Norway and all love goes back to where they come from (better say escaped from). Hmmm. Food for thoughts.

Well, this certainly wasn't expected, but here we are. Firms like Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, and Broadcom have dominated the global tech market in the past few years, and the one common thing about these firms is that their CEOs have their family heritage linked with China

Similarly, NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang and AMD's CEO Lisa Su are both of Chinese descent but spend most of their time in the US, pursuing the American dream.

Major US Tech Firms Now Have “Chinese-Descent” Individuals As Their CEOs, Shows How Valuable China’s Talent Is For The Tech Industry

See also....The core AMD partners include Sapphire, Shakesun, Hankai, XFX, ASUS, PowerColor, and Vastarmor. These names are quite popular globally, but they have a far greater presence in Chinese markets, which is one of the reasons why they received greater importance from Team Red.

Middle is basic tune for gaming, benching stable doesnt mean gaming stable sadly.

Middle score: 2900c/2650 mem regular timing @ 1070mv

7900 XTX is really held back pretty hard on the power. 600w would've been great but AMD likely made the right choice as people complaining about performance sadly is safer than people complaining about needing more power.

I'll do a stock run in a moment, also ReBAR is disabled again somehow :/ I'll need to check my sBIOS again. Oddly enough the Network Stack needs to be enabled for Rebar to work on this Aorus ITX x570 board...

Right?

I love LOVE the look and feel of the 5090/5080 FE (They're identical externally FYI). Personally, aesthetically speaking, it works better in an all black case with minimal RGB (let's the Logo stand out). With just the GPU and ROG lit up in my system, it gives it such an industrial Blade Runner look.

Your blacked out MB complements it very well, but that white gpu power cable is nails on a chalkboard to me lol.

I think I’ll swap to the black MSI GPU cable. The white cable doesn’t quite fit looks wise. I agree.

I love the build though! I have to agree with you with Founder Edition cards. I absolutely LOVE IT. I appreciate Nvidia hooking me up with this.

Need to know what size, but you can get them on Amazon. Probably M2 or M2.5 but you need to measure the diameter and length to be certain. There is a wild variance in screw length that varies with PCB thickness and air space between the PCB and back plate. I also HIGHLY recommend going with stainless steel. I won't use anything else for this. Stainless is harder metal and won't strip out as easily. If you go with Allen or Torx head that will be even better to avoid stripping, and they look nice.  That is where I generally purchase mine. The soft black steel screws used to assemble most GPUs are just trash. I have stripped the heads out many times before with the perfect screwdriver size. The metal is just too soft to not be damaged. If the screws are super tight the screw metal is too soft to loosen them. It is extremely annoying because there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

Stainless screws are best for everything unless you need to reach a tight spot with a long magnetized screwdriver. They are not very magnetic and won't stay attached. Otherwise, use nothing else IMHO. I also used to replace all of my laptop screws with stainless for the same reason.

Yeah, I am probably still going with that one. Best bang for the buck, I think. Hopefully I will get one without the mesh grill bent. For some reason that seems like a common issue. Cooler Master HAF 500 is comparable but flimsy in comparison according to reviews. I think I will go with MONTECH Metal Pro fans to replace those on my EK 360 AIO. I don't care about LED colors, but I want white light from the fans. They have very high static pressure. Not quite as high as P12 Max that I bought, but much better than most and very close to the static pressure at lower RPM. (The lower RPM is probably what accounts for the modest difference. The P12 Max spins faster and consequently louder.)

Your blacked out MB complements it very well, but that white gpu power cable is nails on a chalkboard to me lol.

Hi just need to wrap in his 5090 FE😀 No need to change out that tiny 12V-2x6 power cable. Or just send over the card to  @Maxware79 for some color change.

I’m good lol. Haha. White case, white rads, white fans, white PSU. That’s it.. No more. Everything else can be black! I do love the look of the 4090 FE though. (Without the white) lol.

@electrosoft

I have not ran a case in YEARS anyways. The rear exhaust fan which is a Lian Li P28 blows out all of the 5090 FE’s hot air right out the case. It is very impressive. The case is massive so it doesn’t heat soak. Everything is working so well. It’s so quiet! 🥳I have all pumps on lowest RPM, all fans on 40% rpm.

Well it looks like Safedisk got handed another extraordinary silicon sample, as usual. I wonder how many ASUS had to bin and cull to find this one. Unless you have one this good I don't think it's possible to find much benefit in owning an X870E Apex if you have an average 9950X/X3D sample. $800 is too costly to justify with an average CPU. The Gene gave me no real benefit over the Cabron other than the crappy gamerboy MSI firmware that is missing important settings.

Speaking of bin quality, I need to do more testing to confirm it, but I think my second 9950X might be a lot better than the first one installed in the Gene.

I think I’m all but done with Extreme overclocking and the whole XOC business. My next motherboard would be any (4) Dimm motherboard I do not mind if it’s 2 or 4 dimm slots. If I ever get the itch again, I have a chiller and a test bench. But I’m enjoying no noise inside a case for the first time in years. 🤯And It is really amazing. 🤩

I’m always still going to run custom cooling of course. Probably even sticking to hardline tubing as well. It’s pretty nice when setup correctly with easy maintenance in mind.

My job has become really demanding. And in my free time I just like to game or spend time with my family. I popped in the 5090fe bone stock and went right at playing KDC II, I haven’t ran a single benchmark on it yet 😂

yup i feel ya. with the little princess around and job starting back up in april (end of my parental leave), the little freetime i have is mostly spend with a bit of quality alone time with my lady, as well as playing games. but i recently started compiling a new benchmark suite to get some base numbers on my current setup before new CPU / GPU arrive 😛

Sheesh, looks like a nice one!

I love it when I spin the wheel on another sample and it's markedly better than the first (I'm looking at you 9800X3D, 11900k, 8086k). It was the string of subpar 12900k's and the "return shuffle" that moved me into picking up binned only samples for 13th and 14th.

I had to play the shuffle again with the 9800X3D and I did not enjoy that at all.....

Let's see the BIOS screenies for both!

I've backed off my OC'ing a lot compared to years ago but now it's all about dialing in the CPU for best ppw (where does the chip fall of the cliff power wise and backing off of that a touch and really dialing it in) along with really getting into memory tuning which can really effect game performance sometimes more than frequency overclocking. Quiet computing is very important to me but I do give a large bit of leeway to laptops when under load.

But I will still push my hardware to test it and get some benchmarks because yeah! Then I return it to its D2D config.

I'm probably one of the few, but I actually prefer the "borg like" look of soft tubing lol. Don't get me wrong, I like the look of hardline tubing, but something about the naturally generated curves and bends of soft tubing do it for me.

The coolers on these 5090FE’s are very very good engineering, a complete marvel to me, I don’t know what all the fuss is about, I think my case is possibly amplifying its natural air flow. Running my 5090FE all stock and I’m at 67c right now 425 watts power draw. They also have some extremely good silicon on them. I’m Running something like +375 in raster games. This equates to an insane undervolt that provides sub 300 watt 4K gaming in KDC2. 🤯

time to update bios, chipset & igpu drivers, set up process lasso (not taking any chances) and then see what this chip can do 🙂

also got myself a V2 AM5 thermal grizzly high performance heatspreader. u might remember that they changed the manufacturing on these, with the new version performing 5C lower than the initial release.
