Yep, and former AMD engineer who jumped on Intel to be their GPU boss have failed total. And he is the specialist engineer on software for graphics cards. Can see this on how the drivers works 🙂 Can't see this mess is anything better than their old fashion iGPU's. I just can't understand why Intel want drag their reputation down the drain. This gen new graphics cards should have never ever been released this year (probably never). But I expect greed and looking for more profits is their main motivator for pushing out this Junk....

Intel Arc A380 discrete GPU reviews: “it’s like living in the middle of a minefield” videcardz.com

Igor's lab hit the nail on the head. Why can't reviewers give a product zero stars in reviews? But sadly, people will still buy it. And Intel is still a well known brand name, so..... There you have it.

Ditto. This is their first, real, foray into desktop level graphics. I fully expect a lot of growing pains and curves. The volume sales are always in the low to low-med end anyhow. Now by next gen if they're still lagging? Well......

Here's more news/info about the new beauty from Intel. Steve Burke explains that the big mistake lies in Intel trying to meet AMD and Nvidia on all fronts and filling the driver package with functionality that doesn't work at all. He believes that the company should back off, apologize and explain that initially they only offer the simplest, i.e. the functions that are not a "buggy mess".

Anyone who says a desktop CPU can't be as efficient as a laptop CPU obviously doesn't know how to do proper tuning.

I tune all my systems for power efficiency when I need it and performance when I need it.

Here is the 10900K in my newly built workstation at idle:

image.thumb.png.97108b3b9adfecf793224a5dc2d53d41.png

The CPU only consumes 1 watt while idle. Obviously this is a desktop, so absolute performance matters more, which is what I'm going to tune for next, but this is proof desktops can compete with laptops in power efficiency when tuned correctly.

I dont think I will get another laptop after my X170SM-G given the current idiotic state of the laptop market. I'm also tired of getting screwed over on upgrades. I'll be going for a dual desktop setup; one uber powerful one that stays at home, and one portable one that can fit into a laptop bag.

Time to see what this super 10900K is capable of with the MasterLiquid M360 Sub-Zero.

You won't regret it. For true, unbridled performance nothing beats a good desktop. Laptops on the go obviously or when I want to relax in the recliner but outside of that? Desktop all the way.

There really isn't anything out there that tickles my fancy except maybe the NH55 which is as close as it has come outside of that BGA GPU. Hopefully an aftermarket HS will pop up on Aliexpress. X170SM-G is running calm, cool and collected. Low to no noise and no thermal throttling anywhere. I do hope Clevo will right the ship even more back to the P870TM'esque days with 13th gen but I'm not holding my breath.

Brother @Reciever I know you like using air cooling. Are you familiar with the IceGiant ProSiphon Elite CPU cooler? I stumbled onto that product by accident the other day and it seemed like an interesting concept that would likely work better than most other air cooling options, and maybe even better than some common AIO water cooling units.

I have read about this air cooler long time ago. Bad for Intel chips. Good for the bigger TR chips. Stay away if you have an Intel chips.

Edit. Enjoy and forget to use LM. Alu bottom on this cooler. What a failure. And Der8auer wasn't very happy with the cooling on Intel chips.

Too bad it is not engineered correctly. It could have been a good option for the people that like air cooling, have a lot of available space in their case and short memory modules. I have not watched the video yet. Did Roman figure out why it does not work correctly for Intel CPUs?  That seems like a strange condition. (I will watch the video later to see what he revealed.)

Long time since I saw this video. I think the design is for TR chips and not so very efficient for smaller die as Intel chips.

See above. I still think this isn’t a great cooler for Intel chips. The design of the cold plate isn’t optimized for small chips.

Not that the reviews are totally reliable, but probably no less reliable than YouTube reviewers. Those who purchased it and used it on smaller CPUs seem to be very satisfied with it and some even said it worked better than an AIO cooler it replaced.

It doesn't matter that much to me since I have no interest in air cooling whatsoever, but I thought the concept was quite interesting, and it seemed like something that could be more effective than the typical tower air cooler.

ha. im actually excited to get my first desktop. i want a 13th gen i7 and 4090ti. i say now i wont upgrade for a while but knowing myself i want the latest generation. only reason i dont have a 3080ti laptop is i have no use for it. 3060 is mid range and i prefer pushing mid range to its limits vs getting the best and having no room for improvement. but when i get my desktop im getting a 55in tcl 120hz 4k qled tv and using it as a monitor. not sure about keyboards but it has to be per key rgb(because its cool) if my apartment is anything to go by u would know why i think i have like 14 rgb led lights for my apartment. yes apartment i live modestly but a part of me is thinking i should just bite the bullet and get a condominium. not interested in a house. also I quit that janitor job I just thought it would be good for my mind. yuck pee everywhere. people prefer the ground over a toliet. never doing that again. I think im just going to focus on trading stocks and my albums(nature music ect)

Yep. A huge cold plate intended for big Threadripper chips isn't a good choice for the small and wimpy mainstream chips. The hot spot area on intel chips is different. The die is barely 200 mm2 for the new gen hybrid chips with all those baby cores. And the power hungry P-cores don't take much space on the silicon. This type cooler are mainly designed around bigger chips with Amd's multi chiplet (glued on die's) design.

There is only one solution for Intel chips... Custom water cooling, a good AIO or a Water chiller in combination with already mentioned liquid cooling setup... And the average Joe wanting an air cooler they won't go for such a big box cooler design. The design simply won't match what they want. They want Slim, and sleek sexy designed air cooler and with a lots of bling bling around the cooler fans (so called Argb/RGB garbage). So what you have left for this type cooler is TR chips or a possilbe new work station chips from Intel (HEDT is dead so scrap that cooler choice for consumers as performance enhusiasts or the average Joe).

LOL... the label on that box to avoid VAT and duties. Prison anyone? 😄 Not sure if that is a felony in the countries that have those Nazi tax schemes or not.

Taste on this one bro Fox. Ebay added full tax on my older GPU I bought. +25% to please the Norwegian government. When I got the package here home the post office wanted money for the tax handling (20$) and then added a new 25% tax on everything. Even on top of shipping. I is now forced to talk with Ebay to get back the tax money I paid them beforehand for the purchase. The Norwegian government washing their hands and push me to write a email to Ebay support to get my tax money back. They won't help even if they did it wrong. The package was even market with already paid TAX. They did it this way to be sure I paid the tax handling before I could have the package. They wanted all tax on top of all costs. Tax on everything a second time is their way to do it.

Yep, Norway is a nice country to stay/live in if you want buy something (new or used) they can't offer here in the stores. NAZI tax schemes +++++

That is just messed up. I am sorry that is happening. There is no good excuse for it.

It is equally wrong to charge sales tax or income tax on the sale of used items where sales tax was already paid when the item was originally purchased and the item is sold for less than the original purchase price. That is double-taxation and being taxed on your loss, not your income. That kind of behavior is a dead giveaway that the government-sponsored organized crime ring that enjoys molesting their citizens is being run by corrupt, unscrupulous and hopelessly evil bastards.

But, the label on the outside of the box still cracks me up. How blatantly and deliberately misrepresented... 16 copies of "The Adventure Challenge Couples Book" LOL. And, the customs people are too stupid to use an x-ray machine or shake the box to hear how it sounds? (Maybe a safe assumption there.) I'm pretty sure it wouldn't sound like a box of books if you jiggled it.
