HA! sure sure, mining only had a minor impact in your revenues, uh huh! 33 - 44% DOWN. get outta here Nvidiots.... im super happy and annoyed while reading this, at the same time 😛

I have a hunch they are selling in large measure based on impulsive spending, and that is also by design.

If I am going to be honest, I have to admit that I have needed to deliberately close my browser window and walk away from my computer because some of the excellent prices for GPUs that I have ZERO need for are very compelling. The prices are so low compared to the ludicrous prices we became numb to that my dumber self is becoming more difficult to control.

Another reason I stick with EVGA when able....

The whole KPE 3090ti launch and markdown ($2499 -> $1999) less than a month in just didn't sit well with me. I get that tech as an enthusiast pursuit will always result in a net loss Y2Y but the timing and everything just rubbed me the wrong way on a personal level.

I was mulling it over for a week or so and finally reached out to EVGA with the timing and mark down being so soon after launch and basically $500 is nothing to scoff at.

Being in the tail end of the second wave also put my purchase date ~10+ days after the official launch and firmly within a month of the mark down.

They got back to me earlier and after a little back and forth credited me back the difference of the old vs new price. They didn't have to but they did and without all the pomp and circumstance you sometimes get ("We're giving you this one time courtesy" , "We normally don't do this", "Feel lucky peon!")  and that goes a long way with myself and how companies treat their customers on a micro level.

Yeah the prices even had me looking around for a reason to pick up another high end card. I sold my 3070 when I moved the wife to my Strix 3080 so any purchase is going to be 3080ti/6900 levels or higher.

We're really seeing the end of a cycle decline in prices that is super heightened because they were so grossly overpriced for so long. I try to view the markdowns compared to original intended MSRP and the newest round of markdowns have them at or below their original MSRP especially the 3090ti/3080ti.

3090ti FE original MSRP...........$1999.99 (giggle)

3090 FE original MSRP..............$1499.99**

3080ti FE original MSRP............$1199.99

3080 FE original MSRP..............$  699.99**

3070ti FE original MSRP.............$ 599.99

3070 FE original MSRP...............$ 499.99

** Original Ampere launch day prices.

Tack on $100-300 for original AIB pricing for better tiered models. The biggest savings are clearly at the top.

The idea of paying extra for an excellent GPU that offers zero hope of ever having something other than its stock hybrid cooler and not even one proprietary water block was such a massive turnoff for me that it didn't even cause me to have modest interest in the 3090 Ti KPE. The options are already so limited with the 3090 KPE (and prior generations KPE cards) that I have lost interest in them due to the lack of good alternative options for cooling. One option (effectively zero options) is not good enough, even though the GPU is arguably the best money can buy and worth the extra cost. The lack of alternatives cancels out the benefits of owning it in my mind.

As someone who blocks everything, a card with zero wb options is an instant no for you regardless of every other variable so it makes sense.

I bought this weird HM65 board off of Ebay for 8 dollars a few days ago. I have no clue if it works, but if it doesn't it was only 8 bucks lol.

It's really odd though. It has no PCI-E x16 slot, and no 24 pin PSU header. It can either use a 12v DC power supply that are commonly found with cheap electronics, or it can use a 4 pin 12v DC connector which I believe is the same connector that you would use for your CPU (ATX 12v if I'm not mistaken.)

I haven't been able to test it as you would need a special power supply to utilize the 4 pin connector, and I can't find any 12v DC power supply laying around that would work. I'll probably go out and buy one here soon as this thing seems to have a decent VRM, and if the BIOS isn't total garbage, I might be able to use it for some overclocking 😉

I'm still waiting for all XX80 cards and below to go under MSRP to snag one up for my new workstation. I'm seeing good deals on AMD's GPUs as well, but have never owned one, so I'm hesitant to get one, even though a significant portion of the games I play have a performance advantage on AMD's GPUs vs their Nvidia counterparts.

I have no idea what kind of drawbacks may ensue for other applications I use for work. I could say "screw it I'll get both!", but that's kinda stupid.

Not bad. 1706 on the cores in GPUI 3.2 - 1B. Or near 500MHz overclock above a stock Nvidia 980 Ti Founders edition🙂 And this with an air cooler.

Mostly LN2 and a few chilled cards above. So ok'is for an GPU with an stock air cooler. I know I can get the 16th place in GPUI 3.2 - 1B with this Zotac card. I lost that score/place when the last benchmark run was ready to be finalized. I guess even 15th place is possible 🙂

looks and sounds to me like a redesigned laptop motherboard, i.e. repurposing leftover laptop parts for desktop usage. hope u can get it to work! keep us updated 🙂

Newegg Shuffle has started! (LOL!)

I'm sure many who enter will "win!"

Basically if you win you get a code that gives you a bigger discount than listed.... (!)

I'm sure Newegg is feeling the backlash after the crapton of combo deals they forced down buyers throats via the Shuffle for well over a year. Now given a choice people are looking elsewhere or sitting tight:

The only "decent" price in there is the Asus TUF 3080ti for $833.00 as it is well below MSRP ($1299 and even below $1199 FE pricing)....

....but seriously I saw it pop up in my email and I looked down at my date/time to make sure I hadn't time jumped to last year

I'm sure Newegg is feeling the backlash after the crapton of combo deals they forced down buyers throats via the Shuffle for well over a year. Now given a choice people are looking elsewhere or sitting tight:

As a test, I queued up for what I deemed the worst card and the best card (6600 and 3080ti) just to see what would happen with no intentions of purchasing either. I predicted the 6600 was a shoo in but the 3080ti was the real test to see if they would move at that price. I figured they would sell out quickly.

As predicted, I was "selected" for the 6600 but not the 3080ti which means they had more queue ups than cards for however many 3080ti's they were trying to move at $833 after shuffle "rebate."

I did the exact same as you did. I entered into the shuffle just to see if I would win, and surprisingly I did!

I got the 3080 ti coupon that was supposed to go to you. 🤣

I'm still not buying it even at this discounted price. It's still way too much for me.

LOL! There was no chance of me wanting to buy any of that stuff. I just wanted to see if the would sell out their allotted stock and they did so cards are moving. All that showed up was B-tier (or worse) cards for the shuffle no A-tier stuff (Strix, Master, FTW3, etc...).

Look on the bright side. When your time window expired, they sent the offer to the next open slot on the list. 🙂

I know I can get the 16th place in GPUI 3.2 - 1B with this Zotac card. I lost that score/place when the last benchmark run was ready to be finalized. I guess even 15th place is possible 🙂

Grabbed 16th place and was rewarded with 1 extra boint for 980Ti in GPUi 3.2 - 1B 🙂 Running 1708 on the Gpu cores. When I have the time I will try out a few other drivers to see how far this will go.

As we have seen more than we would like, on an order of magnitude that is stupefying, there will always be a demand for garbage tier electronics. Turdbook trash has been so wildly popular with the stupid sheeple for so long that now nothing else is left. We can choose whatever we want as long as it is OK for it to be garbage.

I've learned over the past few months that AMD has been fixing their driver issues. Apparently their DX11 and OpenGL performance deficit vs Nvidia has been addressed, and they're now on par or nearly on par with Nvidia in most cases.

This is what was holding me back from getting an AMD GPU, but now I see no reason not to as there are no longer any downsides for me. I did more reseach on whether getting an AMD card over a Nvidia one would affect any productivity software I use, and it won't, so 6900 XT here I come!

Now to wait for the prices to drop further. I like making hackintoshes, so the 6900 XT will be a very good fit for my desktop.

I've set my price at $600 for a 6900xt (or a touch more for a top end specialized model).

I'll slowly amass the pieces I want for my son in law's build. In the meantime he is renting a system from rent a center which I didn't even know rented PCs? I'll have to get over to their place and check it out and see exactly what they're offering up as a, "gaming" PC.

Great news for those who wait for 4000 series graphics cards or want to buy the older 3000 series. Maybe they also have to adjust price expectations for the higher end 4000 cards? There is no miners this time that can help them keep prices well above MSRP. And too high MSRP prices over normal on next gen high end will only lower the sales of those type cards.

And the bird who told Jay that the prices won't go down any further knew all this would happen. I hope we finally will see loads of used 3000 cards flooding the web coming weeks. This will certainly help Nvidia to see the light 🙂

NVIDIA announces weaker Q2 gaming GPU sales, now working with channel partners to adjust prices

Weaker sales are likely the results of cryptocurrency crash and post-COVID market with lower demand of PC hardware. Nice, and Nvidia said the miners was in minority buying their ampere graphics cards.

GPU Shipments May Drop by 50%, Nvidia Braces for Long Winter Tomshardware.com | Yesterday

Nvidia also expects to take a big hit, thanks to both the post-pandemic drop in demand and the major cryptocurrency crash earlier this year. Taiwanese graphics card suppliers estimate their 2022 shipments will fall by between 40 - 50%, and sources cited by Digitimes say this will cause Nvidia's revenue to fall "at a pace beyond imagination."

AMD will steal more sales from Intel and Nvidia... They ride two horses (Cpu's/Gpu's). Hence they won't race down the drain in a pace as Nvidia and Intel. Welcome to reality.
