R&J has dropped the x170-km from its lineup.  No more place for barebones chassis in the US I think.

I just double checked all the reseller links in the main page and RJTech has indeed dropped it. All other links still work though. You will just have to pick one up in a min config (CPU/Mem).

That one looks pretty much beaten up and it has two different power supplies and a Prema bios - WTF!

Must be an SM-G and bottom or not so much damage to surfaces has to be taken into account, I would not be comfortable with it as the X170 has a rather flimsy rear end and bottom cover and will feel rather cheap even when not broken.

I just flipped through the pics and yeah it clearly was dropped at some point or another with that corner  damage and that crack across the back.

Seeing the BIOS screen it is clearly a SM and Prema enabled. He sells a lot of Clevo systems so I'm not sure why he has it listed as a KM.

lol, two different PSUs. I've never even seen the other model before.

As always, you never know the age/use of components inside. I state this as I'm finally shipping off my X170SM-G tomorrow for a long overdue repair on the GPU.

Yep, this one looks a bit fishy  and when that GPU goes belly up and you have no warranty things will get expensive.  Especially with potentially compatible GPUs not being such a great choice after all as you also need to source a different heatsink for them which will usually cost you a lot.

At this point I am not sure if it will not be more fun to just keep a P775 or P870 chassis to tinker with as they offer many more choices than the X170 both with regard to portabiliy (no need for two power supplies and all that crap) and available parts. I still did not get around to put the new bios on my KM-G so I should do that first and maybe invest some time to find an alternative solution to always needing two power supplies short of buying one of those Eurocom monsters.

Hello everyone. A team of independent developers from Russia has started developing a bios for the clevo x170km. This is a new life for a laptop. Microcodes for PCH have been updated, the reaction speed of the laptop has been increased, and in the future new functions will be added and mistakes made by vendors will be corrected.image.png.c3b4375e67788fba423e2052a683581a.pngimage.thumb.png.d441215dc3d6943c3c8c3178ff7f2abf.png

Will this be downloadable freely or will it be payware with remote flashing? as i am digging the look of the bios screen already! Have they also fixed RAM compatibly issues or will be looking into it ?

Do you know the current state of this bios modification right now ?
I am not surprised that Clevo is denying access to the source code though.

Which is a shame.

at the moment, microcodes have been updated, initialization has been accelerated, full unlocking has been done, xmp profiles are open, now you need to find the firmware sources to fix the fans

Ah right does using XMP cause any issues? I've bricks etc. As there must be a reason it was closed in first place.

Thank you .

I have some problem and I need assistance if it is possible .

My laptop is XMG Ultra x170 km-g with 10900k .

So today I try the received Samsung 990 Pro as a system drive . It works fine . However it does not want to work together with the rest of the drives . Only alone . Once another drive is installed , it goes to the XMG screen and then it starts an endless cycle of Windows automatic repair , then goes to XMG screen , then back automatic repair , .... I can not figure out why . Meanwhile I have already PCI 4 drive in use ( but not as a system one ) and it works fine .

I tested it on all three slots and in any combination with the other two ( Firecuda 530 and Corsair MP400 ) . Same result every time .

Did anyone have an idea why ?

This morning was a development . As per advise from a friend , I goes to BIOS and change Intel RST to AHCI mode . At first finally it broke the endless attempting repair cycle and goes to repair mode . Then I gave it " Check and repair " , it gives that attempt was unsuccessful . Then I gave Windows to shut down . Wait about 15 minutes and when I start the laptop again , all goes to normal .

I never use Intel RST as i have no need for it and i have all 4 slots in use with PCI-E 4.0/3.0 devices without issue.
